lol...By the way, have you ever heard of Warthers? ;)
  • sherm03
    I did not.

However a quick Google search helped me understand.

The problem with your analogy, though, is that an open enrollment public school would have the same access to the weapons that the parochial had. But nobody ever complains about them.

That is a valid point in a metropolitan area such as Cincinnati, but not in the rural areas of Ohio, which is what I was referring to.

If Dover wins the state tournament, I will send you a set of Warthers knives.

What will be next,Teams with more than 50% black kids can only play teams made up of 50% or more black players and then we could have a white team playoff and a black team playoff and at the end of the playoffs we could have the Black and White Bowl Championship Game.

Keep things the way they are and life goes on as it always has.

If the Catholic schools change to what they really are......" Baptist schools" ..atleast in the Youngstown area ...LOL..then no problem ...

I don't even get what you are implying there. That makes no sense whatsoever.

    Wow!

I thought that is what you were implying. But I was praying you weren't that ignorant. I was wrong.

So now, you're not only a whiner...but you're ALSO pretty racist.

Steubenville people...you seriously wanna claim this guy as one of your own?!

Side note, I was beginning to think I was on your ignore list. But now I can see that I'm not. So why are you completely avoiding the bet I offered on the Dover thread?

So is that what this whole thing boils down to for you? You're just think that "them there Darkies ain't playin' by the rules" and should be put in their own playoffs?

Its hilarious watching Massillon and Steubenville fans complain about recruiting.

I also didnt agree with dropping Private schools from our schedule either.

I will say this, i think that the only thing that needs done, is Division one needs realigned. It is the ONLY Division that has schools on the lower end, with 525 boys, up to over 1000 boys. There is NO OTHER Division with that big of a swing. Im not complaining about anything, just saying its harder come playoff time, to complete with a school that dresses 100 more boys than you. It makes a difference in the depth chart. I say that to say this, Massillon still competes to their best in Division One, and that is all I can ask of the 16, 17, and 18 year old kids that play, for us fans.

And as someone else said, making separate playoffs, hurts the KIDS, because some ADULTS, cry its unfair. Some times you just have to give more than 100% to beat some teams, not saying these kids dont!!!! But, life aint always fair either. We cant just change things, because it might not SEEM fair. That is not what football is suppose to teach about life lessons.

Now, all the public school people can rip me a new one, I dont care,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it all JMHO.
The enrollment disparity in D1 isn't as much of an issue as it's made out to be. Three of the 10 biggest schools (all over 1000 boys) have played for a title this decade. The remaining 7 won't even sniff the title game in our lifetime. Only 5 of the top 30 biggest schools have even won a regional title in the past several years.

What you're really talking about is creating a separate division for X and Iggy...the only two "super bigs" that have been consistent contenders for the past 10 years.

I agree. Both Massillon and Steubenville have brought in kids from other states, and they complain that other schools draw from a larger geographic region?
  • oh yeah!!
i have witnessed the ursuline boys upclose first hand and i would just like to say they are extremly talented, but i sure hope they went to confession for some of the comments and things why were saying during pregame..... ursuline is a great team one that has no business being in d5 but there is ntohing you can do so it is what it is.....best of luck to the remaining teams in the playoffs

The quandary with your faulty apples to oranges comparison that very very very very few if any rural D5 public schools get any open enrollment students. For example Smithville has open enrollment but there is noway in hell a Dalton Bulldog or a Waynedale Bear or a Norwayne Bobcat would open enroll to Smithville or vice versa. Then there is the population factor. A rural D5 school, even including bordering districts which they won't get kids from anyway, may have a population pool of 6,000 people. Smithville's population is actually about 1250. Ursuline draws from a pool of what a quarter million? On top of that if a handicap kid with straight D- grades and on welfare shows up at Norwayne they can't be turned away. Even though it would benefit Norwayne not to have that student both academically and athletically. Plus open enrollment in Ohio is only for kids that live in a district that physically adjoins the district they reside in. Saw a SVSM student sign in Marshallville (about 30 miles and half a dozen districts away).

For the record I voted not to separate the playoffs. I only debate that they should be played by the same guidelines. Using district guidelines, open enrollment guidelines, attendance guidelines (nobody can be turned away), etc.

Do you really believe parents want to send their kids to a school in Youngstown that has to use metal detectors and law enforcement at the doors rather than send them to Ursuline? They do it because they can't get into Ursuline! Whether it's a financial restriction or an academic restriction. If Ursuline were truly open to all, no matter their financial or academic status, their enrollment would explode to the size of most large city schools.

Nice feeble attempt at a strawman argument with pro sports. It has nothing to do with which team is more talented. It has only to do with the guidelines set forth to control how that talent is acquired. If New England and Pittsburgh used different guidelines that gave them a distinct advantage at acquiring talent and Buffalo was only getting talent from Buffalo then you would have case. Nice try though.

All you public school guys that rip us ...You are only weakening your own stance..."cut your own nose to spite your face"
