if it's ok for massillon to do, it should be ok for everyone else to do also.

You complain about private schools recruiting, but you are ok with massillon bringing in underclassmen for a workout. We all know that if Iggy or St. Ed brought in massillon kids for a tryout, you would be the first complaining about it.

    I give up.

On the other hand, you have encouraged me to donate a large chunk of money to ANY KIND of mental retardation charity. I'm leaving now to donate. Thank you.

Skank...you should probably brush up on your reading of the OHSAA handbook. Let's start out by taking a look at the commercial that you are complaining about...
I assume this is the commercial. If it's not, I'm sure it's something similar.

Yes, that commercial does show some athletic aspects of the school. But does it violate any rules? Let's check..

4-9-3 “Mass Marketing,” though a form of recruiting students, may be permitted under this Bylaw by
any and all member high schools provided that the mass marketing involves the marketing of the
entire high school program and all its elements and not solely or primarily the school’s athletic
    program/programs.

Looks like the the commercial is fine. So you can quit bitching about it. Massillon can do the exact same thing. And since they are statewide open enrollment, could broadcast the commercial in Cincinnati and it would be perfectly legal.

Now how about those "combines" that you like to point to. Those are illegal and the private schools are cheating...right? Let's see what the books have to say about that. This is a continuation of the same bylaw...

    • Providing athletic camp brochures that advertise athletic camps that are available to a general population are permitted.
So it looks like as long as the camp is available to a general population, they are legal and the school is even allowed to send out flyers and brochures to students regarding the camps.

You HAVE to be getting tired of being wrong. Why don't you just admit that you suffer from sour grapes, and we can end this thread once and for all?

There you go again with logic and reason. Skank wouldn't know either of them if they bit him in the ass.

You can send your donation to:

    1 Paul Brown Dr Southeast
    Massillon, Ohio 44646

I'm sure that there are plenty of "under-performers" there that can put your donation to good use

    You're a peach

I never said it was illegal, it was in response to your supposed story about your niece. Again, we can dance all night long, but you know of the illegal recruiting that takes place and you know that's what I'm talking about.

That is not an attempt at humor. I'm sure people laugh at you all of the time but I really mean that you couldn't comprehend logic at all. If you find that comical then you are in worse shape than I first believed.

If it is ok to recruit using these tools why would a school do something illegal? You see things that just aren't there Skanky. Maybe because your beloved Tigers recruit you have a guilty conscience.

You mean like St. Ed illegally contacting kids? Well, I guess they did pay a hefty price.

Yeah, we get it. If someone doesn't agree with YOU, they certainly can't comprehend the concept of logic or reasoning. Because you're always right aren't you? I'll tell ya what, that OHSAA sure has spoiled you guys haven't they?

You implied that the commercial was illegal. You have said outright that the camps that the Cleveland area parochial schools hold are illegal. I showed you that neither was true.

You are the poster child for confirmation bias...

My mentioning the commercial was in response to your tired diatribe. I do realize that if it is on TV, and the OHSAA hasn't done anything to them, it's legal....Then again, it IS a parochial school.

My tired diatribe? You mean...me saying that all schools, both public and private, recruit (and most of it is perfectly legal) and that YOUR tired diatribe keeps harping that what the parochials do is illegal and what the publics do is perfectly fine.

Like I said, confirmation bias at it's finest.

sherm03 I think skanks problem is a case of "stupid is as stupid does". We all know that Massillon is sitting at 639 out of 804 schools so there isn't many bright ones graduating.

Again, this is a football forum, I believe you're looking for the academic forum. Not out, "mentoring" today, or do you get wednesdays off too?

Furthermore, we just had a kid graduate from Duke, Kempt is being recruited by Stanford, and Gareon Conley is being recruited by Northwestern. Not too shabby.

    Right on the money son.

Just like a parochial schooler, you sound like Klonne now, "I GENERALLY followed the rules" when I was at Moeller.

Why would I say that everyone follows the rules all of the time? I know St. Ed was just busted. But I'm also not naive enough to say that it JUST happens at private schools. Most public schools legally recruit students. Some break the rules.

And if a school breaks the rules, they deserve to be punished...like St. Ed was. I have never denied that sometimes rules are broken. But I also have never said one side breaks the rules more than the other either. I think there are groups of people at both private and public schools that will break rules to win. I also think there is a large number of schools...my alma mater included...that plays by the rules and doesn't need to break rules to be successful.

You just equate parochial success with rules violations everytime. And refuse to agree that there are parochial schools out there that are just good programs and do not need to cheat to win.

Finally an intelligent post from you. Congratulations to these young men. They have obviously worked hard.
