I have seen both teams play, including Orrville twice and Genoa against Clear Fork. I posted my comments very early in this thread. I think Genoa is the better team and will be tough to stop/slow down. Orrville has the speed and playmakers to stay in this game; and if they can be within a score or 2 late, they could make a few plays to get the victory. But I personally see Genoa winning. (That was my very brief rundown of this match-up. Read my earlier posts for an extended rundown.)
I found it for you:
thePITman;555863 wrote:I've seen Orrville twice this year, and I saw Genoa tonight against Clear Fork in person. My early prediction goes to Genoa by 14. However, it was tough to gauge, really, because defending Orrville is a whole different ballgame than defending Clear Fork. Orrville is not only athletic and tough at the RB position but also on the edge where they can stretch the field just as well or better than anyone Genoa has faced this year. If they can make Genoa honest in the defensive backfield, it might just open things up some.
However, on the other side of the ball, Orrville still has to stop Genoa. If they got controlled by Clear Fork's offense, it makes me think they would get controlled by Genoa's, which is just as, if not more, efficient and effective. I understand, though, that teams change as well as game plans. It will be interesting to see how the two teams match up individually. Maybe those key 3rd down conversion passes that Genoa had won't be nearly as open against Orrville... but Genoa was still good at the pass.
Either way, I think this will be a great game. Out of the 4 choices of 1) Orrville wins in a close one, 2) Genoa wins in a close one, 3) Orrville wins in a blow-out, and 4) Genoa wins in a blow-out, the one that will definitely not happen, IMO, is #3. Orrville will not win this going away. So obviously I'm impying that I wouldn't be surprised if Genoa won this going away late. That being said, I really think it'll be a 14-point or less game when all is said and done. Orrville has too much quick-strike ability to ever be counted out, and they may be able to match up well across the field. But again, can they stop Genoa's run game? #34 Nutter, their stud running back (a Sophomore) is FAST and POWERFUL. A great combination with great effort, and very fun to watch.
Good luck to both teams, but I'm rooting for Orrville! Go Red Riders! -
Red Rider DadOrrville finds ways to win BIG games. Just like tonight, it sometimes isn't pretty but its a WIN. Love my riders.
red Rider Dad -
oberhausWhat kind of a kicker does Orrville have? Genoa's is very good. But how is his ankle?

buhrdogThanks Pitt
RR Dad I hope your son does well...I think when you make it this far all teams find a way to win big games. Genoa has proved it the last few weeks. Every game in the playoffs is a big game. -
Red Rider DadHey Rage,
It took you how many years to BEAT Orrville?????? I think it was NINE. Congrats on beating us once. It will be a long while before CF can hang their hat on 21 play-off appearances, 8 regional titles, and 1 Stae Title. With all of this tradition, comes respect. I saw the CF - ORR game and you took it to us. Nice job. But beating us 1 times proves what???????
Red Rider Dad -
Red Rider DadGo Orrville. I am a noobie and proud of it. The RIDERS are on a mission this year. They take it one game at a time. Tonite we will say good bye to the Comets!
Red Rider Dad -
Nutty1Genoa kicker didn't practice this week (among 2 others), all supposed to be ready Today, we'll see at kickoff. They might just save him for any FG and Pats, We definitely need him on D and O though.

It proves that we beat you this year, and nothing more. Didn't think that needed an explanation. Who is trying to prove something? Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself of something. You need to focus on tonight, you have plenty of things to prove there. -
zeez sportGood luck to both teams tonight. Let's not forget the non-starters and underclassmen that have been battered and bruised in the practices that have helped both teams achieve so much this year!
GO RIDERS! -

That might be a game changer...We need him -

Orrville's kicker is pretty good. First year of being the fulltime kicker, but has made some big kicks.
I believe he has made 3 FG's on the year, with his longest a 35+ yarder. He's making about 95% of his extra points too. -
RedRider1This could come down to a game of bounces, tipped passes, jump balls, missed tackles. You hear the term a lot in basketball...those "50/50" balls. I think that plays to football as well. Who lands on the fumbles, who has passes deflected, who misses/breaks tackles.

Game Day fellas. I'm thinking like 28 -14 Riders sounds about right. Good luck to Genoa tonight and lets hope for a injury free game.

RedRider1I cant see either team being held below 20.
Clear Fork ran for a bunch on Genoa, and from hearing Genoa's own fans, they're not exactly sold on their DB's ability to cover 1-on-1.
I think we score in the neighborhood of 30. Will be interesting to see how our D stacks up against the wing-t. -
NWIndianNation01Although I want to see Orrville win this one...I think they will get rolled! Good luck!
-
OQBWe just have to play smart defense
Read YOUR keys, and play assignment football. -
oberhausI can't seem either team getting rolled.

buhrdogQB you are right...Defene will be the key. Genoa's DBs have not been tested all year and I think your athletes on the ends will be able to get separation. The key is if Genoa can get pressure to the QB.

I totally agree with this Orrville fan who said that a few bounces, tipped passes, jump balls, or missed tackles on a few plays here or there can completely change the complexion and direction of a game. It's funny that I was saying the same thing 2-3 weeks ago but got bashed by Orrville fans. Oh well. Good luck Riders!
