lets_go_devilsThings could always be worse...we could have been Chaney.
Seniors are leaving a legacy...let's just hope the ones being passed the torch actually hold on to it. -
oldschoolreddevThis thread is getting out of hand. Campbell lost. So what! It's over now. No need to take shots at champ anymore. He is a Campbell football alum.
Sooner1 is a Campbell man. No need to take the shot at him like he isn't part of Campbell football's history. As a football alum, he has more right to say what he wants than any of you guys that didn't. -

I agree. The season is over. Campbell had a fine season. There is a good core of players returning next season. Champ is a good guy.oldschoolreddev;559842 wrote:This thread is getting out of hand. reddevil90Dang i came here after a few days and wow this went over board. Champ did make a bad call. But oh well. We will be back next year and the year ofter. We are in good hands and our players know it. There is no need to take off and play for anyone but campbell. We should be better prepared next season! alot of the soph and juniors had some nice skills we seen. I'm excided to see what #7 does next year. I been waiting for him to get his chance. And Ja'les will be one more year older and experienced. But what do we do with him??? Set him up a running QB or do we find someone to just do enough in the air and bulk the backfield like the old days?? Cant wait to see this. We have to remember Rome was not built in a day. And to be honest i didn't think we would get this far without skevo. And I'm telling you if there was one player that could have changed any game and strike fear into any team and coaches it would have been skevo and Ja'les in the back field or skevo in the slot. wow that first game was the only chance we had to see what could have been.. Just remember this we have some real good talent coming up the pike. Just stay home Kids and i promise you we will get that state trophy!!
Also when was the last time you seen fans scream Caaaampbelllllll??? Years. Name the last time you seen a community have The Devil's back in Masses??? Its was the most fun i have had in seasons... Last years team was not to shabby either.. -
soupcitysoldierword is that mooney and ursuline are recruiting two of our 8th graders hard...ursuline is after phillips and mooney is after o'dea...someone needs to make sure sikora is aware and keeps these kids in campbell. o'deas grandfather the former city finance director is pushing for him to go to mooney. we need to keep these kids, they are very important to our future.
-
GoPens^^^ Hope you keep those 2 Campbell. Hearing that stuff pisses me off.

cmhs_prideFor the record, John Champ Wolfe was a fine Football player for Campbell. Again, he made a bad call....that does not make him any less of a Campbell guy. If we would have rose to the occasion the score would have been 14-0 anyway. Lets move on folks...lets move on.
As far as the recruiting......I say this all the time....if the kid does not want to be here...or if the parent does not want them here.....then get the hell out. How simple is that. -
soupcitysoldieri watched the 88 memorial mooney playoff game today...boy was sean smith an absolute beast. like a torpedo all over the field.

omemorialhighi was a campbell football player...so ill feel free to comment on champ. as a ref he sux, he screwed us bad. i love campbell with all my heart, i see the people in this city struggling day after day. this team gave them something to believe in again. no they couldnt hold a candle to any of the great teams...but so what?! they were trying to make their own path, they had kids on that team that were recruited by ursuline and they said screw off im a red devil. lester specifically. he absolutely hates ursuline. and for that i respect him greatly. hes a red devil to me. campbells a different town than it was in the 80s n 90s...were smaller and competing with two huge catholic schools for our kids. i commend this team for what they accomplished, they started something good that can be carried on by the younger kids. and i think sikora will do that. as for champ i dont know how any true red devil can ever make that call against his home school. i dont consider him a red devil and never will. hes a chump to me, not champ. they should call him chump wolfe from now on. if he does a varsity basketball game again that crowd better boo him mercilessly when they announce his name, especially the students. he should never forget that he screwed all those people that followed this team and saw them as a bright spot in their otherwise down trodden lives. yes the kids made mistakes, but 14-0 is a completely different ball game. i knew chump growing up and he was always a sissy to me. by the way i played on a damn good campbell team. and speaking of sean smith, he was always trying to fill his shoes and never could come close. and now hes just an ex red devil chump to me and alot of past and current campbell players.

cmhs_prideWait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. I don't care if you played, sat the bench, sat in the stands, or you may even be one of the best to put on the uniform. Regardless, how in the world can you say that he was not a very good football player? I watched him arguably deliver some of the hardest hits I have ever seen as a DB. I don't remember him trying to be Sean Smith, besides wearing the same number. He ran the offense the same way because he had the same coach.
Again, he made a bad call...Ok...I agree. He should not have been refing that game...I agree. But once again i am going to say this because we can't let it go on here. On the very next play one of our seniors needed to step up and make a wide open TD catch that would have given us that 14-0 lead once again only seconds after the call. But as usual this season, he dropped the ball. He also let every punt go by him instead of fair catching it giving Manchester another 20 to 25 yards on their net punt avg. Let alone the fumble and his counterparts unbelievable and blatant inability to turn the hell around and block on kickoff returns. Then there was shooting the football around on the sidelines like a basketball during the game...and the obvious uncarrying attitude to the huddle and from the huddle the whole game. So please.....save me the blame Champ for everything already. We quit. Campbell Ohio...deal with it and get ready for next season. -
cmhs_prideHe was a beast Soldier. He had Sunday football potential. He really did.

sooner1Whats Chaney got to do with Campbell having a great season but falling short. Chaney is cleaning up the mess that a former Campbell coach caused. Actually, he actually help destroy a great football tradition, 3 times worse that he did at Campbell!!

sooner1, some people have no idea what it takes to rebuild a program from the ground up. I do. I have seen many ups and downs within the Campbell program, having watched Memorial play football since the early 1970s. Chaney is enduring some tough times, just as Campbell did in recent years. Chaney's rebuilding efforts have been complicated even more by a brutal schedule for the last several years. I feel changing up that schedule some will certainly help. The kids need to just win some games and start believing in themselves again. There is a good staff in place at Chaney. I think it can be done. It would also be helpful if Chaney had a stadium to call its own. Best of luck to the Cowboys. -
soupcity99Campbell didnt lose that game becuase of Champ. I dont think Champ should have have been allowed to work it but to blame it on one guy is a complete joke. We made to many mistakes all nite which killed them in the end. I am very happy with alot of guys on that team who busted thier butt last friday and the last couple of years. Sikora, benedis, guidos, lester, jales, little, burnett, and many others played thier hearts out. Unfortunately what will stand out is the reaction of a couple to campbell players. This program has come to far with people who care to much for that to happen. Thier were actually fans in the stands where I was sitting yelling at those kids sitting on the bench for the way they were acting.
We dont know what will happen next year and we certainly loose alot of talent and leardership but I am excited for one. I think #77 Sean Burnett in that second half played the best I have seen all year until he got hurt and if he can turn that into a conistent play he could dominate next year. One thing I hope they take away from this is you have to improve on your oppurtunities early on. We struggled with ball security as far back as week 1 and it reared its ugly head last friday. I think if thier is any loss that can fuel a fire I hope it is this one for sure.
