Mark Porter from scouting ohio Likes campbell in this game.. He thinks the defense can stop the Manchester offense. He said Ja'les has the ability to chew up the clock. That weakens out a defense by the middle of the 3rd qt. We will see Friday night.

4RINGZ, I've been hanging out at another site (not the puddle), realized that all the Campbell guys were here and only Pitman was speaking up for my Panthers. Ya gotta love Pit, but the only problem he has is that, this week, he can't say "Manchester is tough to beat at home"! Can you believe we won last week without any homer calls!?!?

Hope all is well in Titan land. Is Carmichael getting any looks for next year?

It's good to see posts from some Manchester fans. We are looking forward to this matchup. I've heard that Manchester is small up front on defense but quick. Campbell is pretty big up front on the offensive line. Any additional info on the Panthers will be appreciated. Of course, we only should expect so much:rolleyes:

Not much talking on this matchup. I can't wait. Two evenly matched teams, great stadium. Should be a good one.

    Go Red Devils!
  • soupcitysoldier
i think both teams are cautiously optimistic...
  • THE4RINGZ
Manchester stops the run very well. They are quick on the outside (CB'S) and cover well. They stack a linebacker or two inside and if they blitz, they are dangerous. If they don't blitz they play good gap defense.

I don't know what offense Campbell runs, but points will be hard to come by.
  • soupcitysoldier
the4ringz question then? not being a jerk at all...but how did perry put up 45 on manchester then? just wondering. what makes perry so much more able to score than campbell?
  • THE4RINGZ
Yeah I don't know the answer to that one. I was reporting what I saw when I watched them play another D4 play off team in the regular season

They are pretty solid on D.

    Bad night perhaps?

o i got ya...i thought you were a manchester fan and saw all their games.

Campbell does not need to score alot of points.. they are methodical with the run. they chew up the clock. but then again zetts went wild on struthers and so did Ja'les. The thing was Matins Ferry got lucky and had the right game plan in place for campbell. It has only happen with Salem and Martins Ferry. Campbell can score in a hurry and like lightning. It will be on the defense again to make big stops and determine who goes to week 13. I have a feeling that Lester will play a big part in this game when all is said and done.. Wishes to both teams a safe and hard fought game.
  • THE4RINGZ
No we are in the same league as them, and I only saw them play once.

They do have a nice team. Should be a fun game to watch

reddevil90, I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding your statement that Martins Ferry got lucky and had the right game plan for Campbell. They were a well coached, quick and disciplined team. They studied the films and did a very good job of keeping Campbell away from making the big play on offense, except for the one TD run. Campbell did just miss a couple of probable TD passes in the game along with a sure pick 6 by one of our linebackers. That happens. But it's best if it does not happen in postseason. It was the Campbell defense that rose to the challenge vs. Ferry. If Campbell continues to play defense like they did last Friday, we will be moving on. I feel that
Manchester will be a bigger challenge because their QB, despite being just a sophomore is much better than the QB for Ferry. Regardless of that, I feel that we need to stop the run first. We need to execute.

Gotta go with the team that has one loss. Staying undefeated and winning it all is just to hard to do.

So ya wanna know about the Manchester defense? It’ll cost ya, maybe a slice of Guido’s best!

Look at Manchester’s better opponents to get a feel for their defense.

Girard – 14 points, 7 on a bomb to Smith, 7 on a 10 yard “drive” after an interception return. You guys are familiar with Girard.
Coshocton – 15 points, 6 on a game opening 80 yard drive, 6 on a 30 yard drive after a fumble, one FG. Coshocton had a huge O line, let their big FB (U of Indiana recruit as a LB) run behind it with a very average passing game.
Triway – 22 points, all in the air, had an all-state caliber QB and WR. May have gained 40 yards on the ground, about 20 carries. Would have scored more if the WR had not been injured.
CVCA – 14 points, all on the ground, a 1900 yard runner behind a big line. Poor passing game, their guy caught one, our guys caught two!
Perry – 45 points, all in the air, 450 yards passing with 55 on the ground (22 carries). All-state QB (hear some MAC schools are recruiting him), U of Cincy TE/WR, and another U of Cincy recruit at OT/DT. Lots of speed in the skill positions, the QB made that team go.

Manchester plays run defense first, pass defense second.

The next question is if you can stop their balanced offense.

Two very good teams, good coaches, great facilities, good weather, and rabid fans = A GREAT FOOTBALL GAME.

should be a great game friday night and I am hearing we should have solid weather. Very important game for the Campbell program and community, I think the kids will come to play. Coach Sikora has done an incredible job all year long with the kids the one question I have is: Is this the game Lester finally brings it all together and puts his stamp on this season? I think he hasnt played bad I think he is doing a good job of leading the team and all those things. I just feel like something is missing when I watch, like maybe i feel he hasnt put it all together yet in a game. I am hoping Lester can really get into a nice rhythm friday night...from the looks of it they have a problem defending the pass and our great asset is that we have a major weapon in our backfield...But back to lester, if he can find a rhythm early i think we win this ballgame...spread the ball around to back and recievers and even take off a few times...get rushton and lebron involved early with bledsoe, and use j'ales as our workhorse later on...got to make good decisions....

I cant agree with you more.. Like i said before Lester has yet to have the type of game he has put together all last year. If Lester gets into rhythm the defense will follow suit... Lester is very capable of making drives last! And his brother small but hard to take down drains the clock in the later quarter's. We get a early lead and stick with it till the later quarter's will work in campbell's favor. mistake free football wins this game.

Manchester runs a 5-3 defense and switches to the 4-3 against teams better at passing.

Last weeks game wasn't typical of this years defense. Perry had an explosive offense and 2-3 very good receivers. But the defense came up big in a few instances, including the game clinching interception.

This will be the most balanced offense Manchester has had in years. The QB has grown tremendously since the Girard game, and I don't think that can be used as a good measure for the Panthers. The backfield was different then and they used 2 quarter backs that game.

The team is really clicking right now. I look forward to a great game Friday.

    Good luck red devils!
