DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPIONS Hilliard Davidson def. Cleveland Glenville 16-15
-
LeonardoSaturday night at 7 PM
I'll take Glenville, 35-20. -
darbypitcher22should be a good game
-
GoChiefsWill be a good one! Would like to see the Wildcats get it..but after seeing Glenville against the Tigers and St. Iggy..I think Glenville is going to be just too much. Glenville by 2 scores. Prove me wrong Wildcats!
-
84_TIGERI am sure most will favor Glenville in this one, but it will be allot closer than many think...............Davidson will control the ball and execute their running game keeping the Glenville offense off the field. This type of running attack is very frustrating to face and takes a very disciplined defense to stop it. I will go with the upset in this one Davidson 27-24.
-
ajwahoo2k2Davidson by 7. Glenville has holes. The Tigers could have beat them but did not have the best rb in. He will be back next year.
-
Be NiceDavidson by 10. Glenville will not stop the "grind it out" Davidson running game.
-
darbypitcher22Davidson can control this game by controlling the clock.
Control the clock > Glenville Speed
Davidson has just to make sure they play sound defense(which they normally do) and tackle in space. If they do those things, they stand a good chance. -
GoChiefsDavidson is going to have to prevent Glenville from getting the big plays too. One of the things Massillon failed to do tonight IMO.
-
newarkcatholicfanSpecial teams play will be the reason Davidson wins this one.
-
hoops23Glenville wins.
Picked them at the beginning of the year to win it. They have the most talent in the entire state. -
JoeA1010Davidson knows how to play these big games, I'll go with Davidson 20-14.

They do that indeed. I don't think they are very disciplined. Davidson doesn't make many mistakes. By the time the fourth quarter rolls around they will be gashing Glenville for big gains on the ground. Davidsons' title win over Mentor was the best HS game I've seen, they still play the same way. I have no idea who to pick in this one yet.LTrain23 wrote: Glenville wins.

darbypitcher22Like I said, if Davidson tackles in space they will control the big play
-
FanOfCatsI feel it.... state championship #2!!
-
darbypitcher22And that would be a huge step for Central Ohio and validating to Cleveland/Cincinnati area that we play pretty good football down here too. Some people still contend that because Davidson played Mentor and not a traditional power like X (who they beat to get to the title game that year) or an Iggy or a St. Ed's or a Glenville that the '06 title didn't mean a whole lot
-
coyotes22Good luck Davidson.
-
skankGood luck to both teams, I gotta hope for Glenville though. Keep it in the north.
-
coyotes22Screw that. Go Davidson!!!

I disagree. I've spoken to a lot of people down south that said the 2006 Davidson o-line was the best they have ever seen in high school and gave due respect.darbypitcher22 wrote: And that would be a huge step for Central Ohio and validating to Cleveland/Cincinnati area that we play pretty good football down here too. Hilliard Davidson has now played St. Xavier, Cincinnati Colerain and Cincinnati Elder all tough (two of them obviously).
I think more of what the perception for the rest of Ohio is, is that a team like that (2006) comes once in a blue moon from central Ohio - 2 state champions in 30 years. A win by Davidson would bring a D1 title to central Ohio twice in four years...more than any other part of the state. It would also mark Davidson as one of the premier teams of the decade. Both HUGE accomplishments. To say Davidson is playing just for Hilliard is an understatement...R3 and central Ohio by and large needs a Davidson victory. -
GoChiefs
Wouldn't it be better to say you lost to the State Champs instead of you lost to the State Runner Ups? :huh:coyotes22 wrote: Screw that. Go Davidson!!! -

coyotes22Just because I am from the northern part of the state, or because we lost to them, does not mean I have to cheer for them. Oh btw,,,,,

Don't forget Upper Arlington in 2000. This could be three D1 titles in a decade.DrinknByTheBay wrote:
