DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPIONS Hilliard Davidson def. Cleveland Glenville 16-15

First of all let me say Brian White has the biggest stones of any head coach I've ever seen. 2 State Championship games, 2 2 point conversions, 2 1 point wins.

I was in attendance last night as well and this was one of the greatest games I've ever seen. I also agree with the Glenville discipline statement, they were not in some key phases of the game, penalties(including a cheap shot 75 yards behind the play that cost them a 99 yd TD pass in the first half) and a couple of other things I noticed ,a kid running out of the tunnel before the game ripping his helmet off running over to the sidelines and beating his chest... was that really needed?

Davidson played a great game and I was rooting for them the whole way. Winning this championship makes all of Hilliard better; it makes it a place that people want to be and it makes those other two schools want to work even harder to get a taste of what they have.

Can't wait to see what those rings end up looking like in a couple of months.

    Congrats to Davidson

Excitement..adrenaline..it's the State Championship man..come on..that's a little nit picky isn't it? Every player has a different method to get himself pumped up..maybe that's just what he does.

I too understand keeping fans off of the field.BUT why did they let Glenville fans on the fiels but not the winning team.We stood there watching them come down the stairs onto the field with a police k-9 barking at us.I wonder why that was.

Congrats Davidson! Way to represent Central Ohio. I was rooting for you guys last night like it was my team. I was so ticked off after the mistake on the punt... then jumping and screaming as Trubiano broke free on the long run.

    Congrats again!

    FanOfCats,

Congrats on your teams 2nd State title. Davidson played with alot of heart & soul and deserves all the accolades they will no doubt receive.

However, I think calling Glenville "undisciplined" is pure bush league and uncalled for. Nobody, I mean nobody makes it to the OHSAA D1 state title game without being highly disciplined.

Also, the event staff has a job to do & an insurance policy to adhere too, so lawsuits can be avoided. Imagine what could have happened if the adult with the toddler on his/her shoulders would have run onto the field and mingled with a bunch of celebrating teenagers in full pads.
I've seen first hand how many fans come up with broken noses, missing teeth, twisted knees and many other ailments after being allowed too rush the field or the sideline. Then afterward they decide the venue owes them money for their own stupidity.
I understand the elation and excitement factor after a big victory, but it's not a free pass to access the sidelines and field.

I have been to a bunch of championship games since 1991 at both stadiums and I would like to thank the people at both Paul Brown Tiger & Canton Fawcett for the fine job they do every year.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience and once again, Congrats to the Cats.
Bush league? Really? By saying a team doesn't maintain their assignments? Have we grown that sensitive that we can't state that a team isn't as disciplined in their assignments as they need to be? Are you serious?

I should clarify my story about the parent with child on shoulders. First, I said I AGREED and UNDERSTOOD OHSAA's position. I really do. Where I wasn't clear is that the incident I refer to happened WELL after the initial celebration. This was a good 15/20 minutes after the trophy presentation, Glenville was already off the field and there were just a few fans mingling around. This wasn't a part of a bull rush, this was well after everything had settled down. I support the decision to keep fans off the field. The incidents of which I speak happened well after and were not a safety issue in the least. Coach's wive's (with field pass) couldn't go outand celebrate with their husbands.... Even while the boys were getting pictures and thigs had settled.

Not a bad experience at all. Just a couple of "Barney's" took their plasitc shield a bit far. That's all

My beef was the fact that the Glenville parents and students were allowed onto the field after the game and Davidson was not (unless of course that 4 year old in a pink jacket was a back up RB on Glenville)

As I mentioned earlier...a desciplined team will win. Go Cats! Hey, where's 1desciple? Where's Sage? His exacts words were..."Glenville will thrash Hilliard." ...and September63 where are you at? AAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'll say it...a smarter coach (Brian White) with a better game plan and a more desciplined team won this game. And that's the facts, Jack!

Congrats to The Hilliard Davidson Wildcats!!!! Your 2009 DI Ohio HS Football Champions!!!! You guys play with such heart, and faith, you make all of us that have worn the Blue and White very proud, and envious. We thank you for letting us come along for the ride, and for the memories. This not only goes out to the current team, but to all the guys, that have played as a Wildcat. Each of you were building blocks to where the program is today. From way back in the 80's when things were really down. To the rebirth of a respectfull, tough, winning program in the 90's, with Coach Sines. To the State Power House you have become today, Under Coach "ICE" White. We in Wildcat Nation thank you and Congratulate you on an AWESOME season. Haha! Walt I was the same way with Pickerington last year and Coffman the year before in those semi games against region 4. I always pull for the central ohio team that makes it out of region 3.

Yeah... I always pull for the Region 3 winner like it was my team.

Glenville's problem is they get out coached regularly.
