100th meeting. Wooster v. Orrville

  • riders1
Doesn't anyone count the ticket stubs? 6000 looks like a guess!
  • OQB
Well that 6000 number did come from the daily record....so it could be a mistake! Haha but who knows where they got that number. You would think the athletic dept would count each ticket stub, but that would just be too much work now wouldn't it :)

    Lol!

I will try to pop in to the AD's office tomorrow and see what their count was. We seem to be able to keep a good handle on that from our end. BTW, I give a big tip of the hat to Deb Goudy and Bob Shonk for all the work they did this past week. Above and beyond! Just throwing out 6000 doesn't really cut it for me.

    What a great weekend;

    Orrville won in a blowout
Ohio State won in a blowout
    Browns didn't lose...... :D
  • Old Rider
I was told that WQKT estimated around 7,500 while airing the game. I think there were more than 6000 there IMO. The radio's estimate sounds closer to me.
  • CCRolly
I'm estimating 7,500 for the fire McCreary pep rally at Follis Field, and yes, I will be pitching in for the fireworks.

Isn't this the same coach who reeled off 4-5 in a row prior to this streak?
  • OQB
When your line averages 6'3" and 275, and have two exceptional running backs, you will win a lot of games....regular season that is, cause he can't win a "big" game.

How many playoff wins does he have? Oh that's right none, get him out of there!
  • 5knots
Well, to be a DI or DII winner you pretty much need some big boys like that. I just don't see it over there....he didn't either, so he began going spread to try and compete. I don't want this to seem mean, but some folks say they have all this talent. I just have not seen it. And don't bring up that junior high and JV stuff because that is not true indicator.....and if you think it is then you should be expecting to lose recently because our graduating class of 2010 and the class of 2012 torched the generals in those grades.....torched 'em. The talent pool is low. It has happened to us before and will again. JMO
  • OQB
They have "athletes" that have potential....that's about all you can say about them at this point. I don't see an offensive line like the 2003, 2004 and 2005 teams had coming up through. When you have a line like that especially at the high school level, you can win a lot of games...and they did those 3 years, but since then has been down hill!
  • OQB
My class lost to Wooster 7th, 8th, and freshman year, soundly blew us out......then we go 3-0 on varsity against them!

What teams do before they hit varsity means nothing, kids grow up, get faster, and become stronger....

Yes, Wooster won 2000-2004 with 2 one and done playoff appearances in 2003 and 2004. The only other playoffs appearance Wooster had was the 1986 team who lost in the State Semi-Final game.
  • THE4RINGZ
Let me repeat. I don't think it is a lack of talent in Wooster. I think the program is currently in a bad place. Talented kids are not going out for the team. Why bother? New blood is needed. A true program needs to be built. Someone who understands that needs to be in charge of that.
  • OQB
A change in leadership will bring excitement and interest from all of Wooster..
  • cf33
I was at the game last night Orrville looked alot better then they did the week befor. #25 from Orrville was by far the best player on the field. Why dont they give him the ball more he runs hard.
  • OQB
lol your preaching to the choir cf33....we have been saying it all year!
  • OQB
We have 3 capable backs that could take the lead role on any given night, but we choose to limit them....

I agree with this statement. Same old same old does not put butts in the seats. Nor does it build any loyalty to the program. Wooster fans have an all time low interest level in the program, and when you hype a game like last night and the team lays a turd like they did, the cycle continues. (BRF if that wad a run on sentence, I apologize).

Someone or something needs to light a fire under someone's butt.
  • THE4RINGZ
    Let me again reiterate

I am not blaming the kids on the field. They want to win.

And for those of you who really know me, please vote for me for Polite Poster of the Year for not really swearing in my previous post. It ain't easy being me on the HS threads
  • OQB
Yes the kids want to win (atleast I would hope so) lol, but If their are kids that want to play football but don't come out because of the coach.....that has to tell you something!
  • cf33
I have see all 3 of your backs play for years i have boys that play in both of there classes and #25 has allways ben the best of the 3

Scroll back through this thread. I mentioned this early on here, and you wanted to disagree about the role of the coach in all this drama. Don't be flipping.back and forth on me.

I talked to Mike Plant at game and he said Wooster AD had people counting every ticket stub and adding in a few others who may have still used passes gave Daily Record that total of 6,000. Now how about another count - number of complaints Hamsher has on voicemail about coaching staff. My over / under is 15

15? You under estimate the Wooster faithful. I will set my number at 35.
