Week 7: Orrville (5-1,3-0) at Ashland (5-1,3-0)

Thanks CC we really kind of relish those opportunities where no one gives us much of a chance....so thanks for the vote of no confidence..haha.

We have a really great deal with the OHSAA, they let us pick our own officials..... On a more serious note, the Orrville defense is playing great ball, while our D is soft IMO. I do think Fuller and Co. will find the holes in the Rider D. I am not worried about the Rider passing game, but our D needs to step it up against the run. Our ability to outscore the opponent has saved us so far, not defense. Given the play of the Rider D, I'm not sure I would consider them an underdog in this game. CC, to cover the predictions, you have to play offense up to your potential. The Wooster line is small, and I'm sure they were manhandled by the Colts. The three teams at the top are not there by accident or luck. All three are playing great football. Looking forward to a great game next week.

Agree, the key for us will be to try and limit Fuller and Co. We are not going to shut Ashland O down. We will try to play tough and have a shot at this one. I love the OCC. W have playoff atmosphere the next four weeks....we meaning 4 teams including Woo, not just Orrville. From a kids perspective this is fun. I tell mt kids all the time you are so lucky to have the opportunity to play in sooo many big games. It challenges a kid and he has no choice but to face that challenge and do his best. Aint life grand!

Ashland won't have much of a problem in this one.

I don't see the Ashland defense as soft, but a bend and don't break kind of defense. They are able to step up and make the plays when they count the most.

Ok the average score of an Orrville game, with the first team Defense in (and only points the defense has given up) is 31-11.
The average score of an Ashland game is 41-21, with that Ashland defense giving up 37 on two different occasions.

Orrville's Defense will keep us in this game, but it will be the offense that wins the game for us. If we can get confidence early on and maybe score on one of our first 2 possesions, this could go down to the wire....

Too many "Ifs" in that statement. It will be very tough for Orrville to cover the 5 wide outs for Ashland, as it will be just as tough for Ashland to cover the running attack of Orrville. This game will simply come down to whoever makes the least mistakes and executes well. Go Ashland!! Beat Orrville!!

Thought of that one on my own! Ha ha!!
  • Go Riders
This game will put all the talent to the test. If the Riders play the game like the first half of West Holmes we lose real ugly. If we play like the 3rd quarter of the West Holmes game it will be real hard to beat us. We are a Jeckle and Hide type of team right now. The Qb play of The Riders will set the tone of the game. The defense will be there and ready.

I think our defense keeps it close. We've seen spread offenses 3 times this year and played well in each outing.

Think it comes down to our offense being able to move the ball....especially in the passing game.

Ashland D is always well prepared for Orrville. We have to play our most complete game of the year.

Big, big, big batch of computer points for the winner. Riders may just lockup a top 8 spot with a win.

I think this game will come down to who can control the time of possession...

If Orrville can run the ball with success and keep Ashlands offense off the field as much as possible.. we will have a chance. Our defense will be ready to go, but I believe Ashland's offense is the best we will have faced up until now.

Our offense has to get going early!

Ashland is due for an Orrville Beat Down... haha!

Haven't given up a big play on defense in quite a while. (Maybe week 3 at Copley?). That needs to continue for this game to be competitive.

Can't give Ashland easy TD's. They'll score...but make it tough on them. Each additional play could be a turnover or a fumble or whatever.

Hope we can duplicate the performance the last time we played on the Ashland turf!
  • SinisterMinister
The last time Orrville played Ashland on our turf the offense was the Kipp show. Marcus Fuller was the qb but handed off to Kipp unless it was 3rd and long. This year it is Fuller and Company. I won't predict who will win this game but I will predict that it won't be the same offense as 2008. As a former qb you should enjoy watching our college-bound qb do his stuff.

We should just forfeit and start preparing for Madison.

Here we go. I forgot that I cannot post about Ashland or Orrville without condescending comments from Orrville fans. What can you argue with what I said? I really don't like you on either forum you big bully. OOOOOOO I am intimidated. I bet YOU don't prepare for anyone do YOU? You are right, just come on over to Ashland. We don't have any athletes or college bound players. We are more worried about our homecoming dates and who gets queen. Just plan for Madison or your lovers at Clearfork. Its a toss up who is a bigger queen you or them. BRF BULLIES ARE FUN
