Steubenville question
-
ManO'WarWell, Wheeling Park is the latest team to be added to the list of teams that have dropped us.

I didn't include them on any list. And I never said we dropped them; we'll have other games with them. My remarks were my observations about their great facility; not our administration's. And that would not enter into it when scheduling a series.fish82;538285 wrote:Ouch. You people always find a way to stay classy, dont'cha?
And even assuming your version of the series ending is true...you still include them on the "They Dropped Us" list. Tsk, Tsk.
I'll tell you what would be classy: if people like yourself could respond to an actual post and not what you think it reads. -
ThinthickbigredWheeling Park dropped us? How did you find that out? Id like to get Liverpool and Martins Ferry back on schedule.
-
ThinthickbigredWatterson has got a great shot this year . so they will be running of the sewers or theyre friends will be speaking out of turn . go away
-
ManO'WarWe are not on their schedule next year.

With this:We were told that our facilities were not sufficient for you fans.
Now call me silly, but I took the original post to reference the seating capacity, considering the whining you people did prior to the game about there not being enough seats for the millions of fans you would bring. Remember that?As far as your facilities go, ask the dozens of ladies and gents who stood outside those crummy porta-johns that had no toilet paper, about those great facilities the last time we played there. We had to supply them with rolls of toilet paper and hand soap from our booster buses. Your rented field looked like they had R.O.T.C. foxhole training before the season started. As we left the game, the police took several drunken female Watterson students away in patrol cars. We knew they were from Watterson because several of your teachers were helping out the police with identification. I'm surprised the Canadians did not have to have shots to cross back into their own country after playing there. But, I guess to you, those are great facilities.
$13,000 plus a year tuition and you can't afford your own stadium? Tsk, Tsk.
You respond with....well....your response speaks for itself. Ciao. -
ManO'WarThe fans have nothing to do with making the scheduling decisions. So while we may complain about seating issues, it doesn't mean that it makes or breaks a deal.
We played AT Buckeye Local for cripes sake! -

I also heard the series is over with Wheeling Park. Now that the 4 game series is over with Cardinal O'hara, I wonder if that one will be renewed?ManO'War;538453 wrote:The fans have nothing to do with making the scheduling decisions. ManO'WarI'd keep them....it is very difficult to find a week 10 opponent, since most have rivalry/league games in that week.

Why? Cardinal O'Hara is a Div.6 school by Ohio standards. -
ManO'WarSo what? They win a lot of games (this is actually a down season for them), and they can fill our 10th game.
Who else are we going to play in that spot??
Brooke would be good there, but don't know if they have that open or not. Maybe Liverpool if we can get them back. But normally pickens are slim. Look at a lot of our week 10 opponents since Central decided they didn't want to play us in week 10 anymore (1990). -

You ever see them play? They usually got a very nice squad. First time we played them they had a 22 game winning streak and they took us to the limit and we won the state that year . Please if your going to come at us then be informed . Dont just fly off the cuff . Alot of points for us . You guys all act like we are some kind of pretenders . WT# -
imneverwrongI am pretty sure most teams are probably scared to play them, they won't admit it, but they are scared.
I am a Dover fan. I would love to see us play Steubenville every year but I know that may mean we get our teeth kicked in for a few years every once in a while. It almost happened because Steubenville joined or was pretty much going to join the ECOL but then it fell through. Would have been nice but they would have not gotten much competition in the conference right now.
People probably look at Steubenville and realize they are loaded and if you play them you have to go to Death Valley and you are probably going to lose. Most schools don't want to schedule games they know they are going to lose. I imagine Steubenville isn't scared to play anybody, but they also don't want to just schedule teams that will play them and not give them any competition. -
imneverwrongAlso, I live in Cincinnati now and you see the GCL Schools play a lot of out of state opponents each year. Elder and St. X both only played 9 games this year.
-
FairwoodKingBig Red's AD called more than 100 schools to get this year's schedule. I'm sure many of them were in Ohio. No team in our region played as tough a schedule as we did. We beat McKeesport and Morgantown who are otherwise undefeated. Our only losses were to Massillon and Ursuline, two of the best teams in the state.
-
ferflogUrsuline yes. Did you see the Massillon score yesterday?

Perhaps they should opt for the points from 9 weeks and make week 10 a exhibition game where the "homegrown" dress in the black jerseys and the "transplants" dress in the white ones. -
DoverFound a more appropriate thread for my question.
