Steubenville question

ManO'WarYou're complaining that any team in Ohio just can't schedule 8 home games because they are in a conference....well, be an independent then!
No school is forced to being in a conference, but by joining one they give up their options of scheduling.
We are not in a conference, so we can schedule zero home games, or ten. -
ManO'Waricskins;536534 wrote:Maybe I am speaking out of turn here, but I remember someone saying that your booster meetings are tiny compared to what they used to be. Maybe this could be one of the reasons why.
I think our Booster membership is still pretty large, but the actual people that attend meetings has shrunk, but that is a factor of many things.
I bet we still get more than the vast majority of schools our size. -

That's what I meant, the attendance at the meetings. You probably do have still have a larger attendance than most of the schools around there. I just know that I wouldn't go to get yelled at. -

You must be confusing me with someone else. Never once did I complain about conferences. I was merely responding to someone saying that EVERY school can schedule 8 home games. -

EVERY school CAN schedule as many home games as they like, and if it is that important to them, then they could leave their league to do so.
It's all a matter of priorities. -
icskinsOk, fine. I will play along. You are technically correct that if every school did away with conferences that they could schedule all the home games they want. You got me.

MY BAD ever INDEPENDENT can schedule 8 home games if they like ! Being in a conference is a little over rated. For example Is the winner of the Buckeye 8 or ECOL more prepared for the playoffs? No ! Has any of those winners won a state title? So BR's schedule most prepare them for something. -

As opposed to bitching about "no one will play us." Got it. :rolleyes:SUPER787;536495 wrote:I think they would rather just bitch about it than try it. -

Agreed. What a school can't do (at least with any credibility whatsoever) is demand 8 home games and then complain that "no one will play us."ManO'War;536552 wrote:EVERY school CAN schedule as many home games as they like, and if it is that important to them, then they could leave their league to do so.

From the pictures I've seen, Brooke had the entire visitors side this year.holdingout;536432 wrote:You're joking right? "They give it to the visiters though if it warrants". When has this ever happened? In all my years of going to Big Red regular season games they have NEVER,NEVER,NEVER opened that up to the visiting crowd. -

We gladly played a lot of teams home and home. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are Watterson, Poland, Beaver Local, Akron SVSM, and Canton CC. They all dropped us after we beat them a couple of times. Warren Harding dropped us before we even played them.
I think Big Red's schedule is just fine. -
BigYtownRedicskins,
I just read the previous three pages & I have come to a conclusion. Why don't you just swear your allegence to the Big Red then your team can enjoy seven or eight home games & a nice playoff run year after year. Then you won't have to prove whatever point it is you are trying to prove.

Rule #2 Refer to Rule #1 as much as possible. Other then that I hope were laughing next week.

AHH. And are you starting to understand why other schools who have scheduled Big Red get annoyed and don't renew their contract (then gat accused of being scared and dropping you) because of the "rules" that are set just to play them.
They better keep these "out of state" schools happy because they may find it hard to fill a schedule with any local teams. -
finster4307The objective is to qualify for the playoffs...and win a title. The BR machine prepare a great schedule every year. We've been a part of D2, D3 and D4....with basically the same results with respect to qualifying for the post season. It's a thing of beauty when you take the emotion out of it...and start pealing the layers of the onion.
We beat more than a few Ohio teams on our way to a 30-0
record...and back-to-back titles. And it wasn't that long ago
either. But I'm sure critics will still take aim.
This isn't the BCS...and those titles were won on the field.
Sure is grand....to be a BR fan!! -
war_admiralDon't give me that crap. When we play schools that actually SELL those tickets in those sections we MOVE the teachers. past games in which we've done just that....IC, BROOKE, URSULINE, MASSILLON, WATTERSON, POLAND. And I'll point out that when we went to Watterson we sold ALL our allotted tickets on the visitors side and they had 2 sections on the home side with yellow caution tape blocking big red fans from sitting in those sections.
These sections had zero people sitting in them on the home side. On the visitors side there was only standing room only. So our fans went over to those sections only to be turned away by "stadium personnel". The game had just begun and big red fans were still coming in the gates and Watterson was still selling tickets. The tickets were general admission and the home side had no numbered seats . Several fans just ignored the stadium personnel and took over those seats. The stadium personnel complained to the police near by; they said the same thing as we did ....you sell General admission with no numbered seats, they can sit anywhere a seat is available. lol
The seating issue is not new to us. Do we whine and cry about it? no! we take over the situation; Boardman, ASVSM, Zanesville, Poland, Hoban, CCC etc. I'd rather play all the OOS schools then ANY of the OVAC/Buckcry 8 teams. I wouldn't give them the chance to play in DEATH VALLEY. Let them play their conference games vs sub .500 teams from yr to yr.
Whine and cry about it. Worry about us lol Cause we could care less about your program. -

Exactly, FWK was singled out for posting sensitive booster information. -

I don't know that I could go that far. lol I have gone to see them in playoff and championship games recently though. I live in Uniontown, so honestly I am more of a Lake fan now than any other school. I went to Wintersville and my nephew's played for IC. So that is why I made this name. To be honest though, I haven't been to an IC game in a few years. I couldn't name more than 1 or 2 people on the team. Those would just be the ones that I see talked about on here from time to time. I just love high school football though. I could go watch any 2 teams play and be happy to be there. -

Like was said....sell some tickets (not just 50 like the last time) and then the teachers will move, otherwise all of your fans will fit nicely in section R, which is at midfield anyways. -

I beg to differ. I know for a fact that Watterson tried hard to continue the series. We were told that our facilities were not sufficient for you fans. Also, if we wanted to travel to your city every year, they would schedule us. Watterson was only able to find 9 games this year and one of them was a team from Canada.FairwoodKing;536641 wrote:We gladly played a lot of teams home and home. I find this shocking. Just shocking. -

Total B.S.. Watterson could not find a mutual date with B.R.. Also, they were never asked to play here every year. Our games with them have always been home and home.
As far as your facilities go, ask the dozens of ladies and gents who stood outside those crummy porta-johns that had no toilet paper, about those great facilities the last time we played there. We had to supply them with rolls of toilet paper and hand soap from our booster buses. Your rented field looked like they had R.O.T.C. foxhole training before the season started. As we left the game, the police took several drunken female Watterson students away in patrol cars. We knew they were from Watterson because several of your teachers were helping out the police with identification. I'm surprised the Canadians did not have to have shots to cross back into their own country after playing there. But, I guess to you, those are great facilities.
$13,000 plus a year tuition and you can't afford your own stadium? Tsk, Tsk. -

And even assuming your version of the series ending is true...you still include them on the "They Dropped Us" list. Tsk, Tsk.
