Never heard if him. Tell your uncle I'm sorry.
Doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. -

Big Red or the middle school? We seem to play enough local teams at the HS level . I dont think we have a scheduling problem . I did here that the Buckeye 8 didnt let us in at the Junior high level because a kid from out Cadiz way transferred to the HS something like that . I hear its sour grapes . I am not positive but if somebody has better info Id like to know more. I dont think the junior high has scheduling problems either . Who knows -

I dont even think you have to be a high school football guru to know of Don Bucci . 49-0 is what I remember him for . TY Mr Bucci . -
Thinthickbigredpeachymom;493090 wrote:The fact is,they would not let us join for just football, and the school board did not want all sports. It is too hard on the kids to travel on school nights for basketball etc.....The football team had no say in this!!!
I heard that also . I am kind of glad . I wouldnt mind playing a team from that confrence every year but not all of them . and it is to far for the other sports . We should be able to fit our other sports schedules up with local teams . Football is the cash cow and it supports the other sports but all those late nights and travel expenses just dont make sense. We are in the black for many reasons and not going to Marietta for volleyball and golf are a few of them -
Thinthickbigredbases_loaded;493110 wrote:The conference is about to make a huge change and it would've been beneficial to all involved.
You have a good conference but it is larg and spread out . This would not be beneficial to us . Evidently you guys didnt want us just for football . but I am glad you turned that down . I like playing Massillon and Ursulin and PA powerhouses and Morgantown and maybe Parkersburg in the future. We are blessed to have outgrown the local competition in football or we would be in the Buckeye 8 . We shall meet your best teams in the playoffs as always . See you there. PS Where did you get that picture from " Uncle Remis" -

Found one link on Google. I guess your life has to revolve around high school football to know and assume everyone should know who he is.Thinthickbigred;493348 wrote:I dont even think you have to be a high school football guru to know of Don Bucci . 49-0 is what I remember him for . TY Mr Bucci . -

Don't be too hard on the kid, he's a Dover boy. Football is irrelevant there and so is their knowledge of it.Thinthickbigred;493348 wrote:I dont even think you have to be a high school football guru to know of Don Bucci . 49-0 is what I remember him for . TY Mr Bucci . -

Whats up with the salt .? What is wrong with being well read on HS football ? My life doesnt revolve around HS football . But I do love it at this time of the year . Do you know who Uncle Remis was ? When I made that refrence it wasnt a crack. -

Its "whoomp" not whoops.
Ironically that song was popular the last time bucci was relevant -
ManO'WarMan, someone from Dover talking about Don Bucci being relevant.
It's better to be a has-been than a never-was. -

Big Red cleared $20K by playing at home against St. John's. We will clear about $1000 by playing at Massillon. That's why we play so many home games. -

haha You do know the song . I think Bucci is still AD at Mooney so I guess that makes him still part of that team . What are you angry about ? You want to start ripping . Lets go . -

Are you serious ? We will only make 1,000 for the Massillon game? I anticipate atleast 3,000 Big Red pre sale tickets . I do they get all the gate money . What are the pre sale agreements? 1,000 dollars doesnt even cover the bus trip and meal . -

This started with a fake quote ripping on the ECOL. While I agree Big Red should never join the ECOL as is, I think the ECOL that begins next year is going to be one of the best middle division leagues in the region if not the best. -

Never heard of him either. Sounds like one of Tony Sopranos buddys. -

I never ripped the ECOL but you implied we ran away from joining so you fired the first shot . Then somebody came on and corrected you and said the ECOL took back the offer because we only were willing for football. For the rescord lets put this ECOL thing to rest . I think the question has been settled as far as that confrence. We did not dodge the mighty ECOL . Its an ok confrence? How many teams in it have won football state titles? -

No, what we get from Massillon will cover expenses. I said that we will clear $1000 after those expenses. That's all that Massillon got from us last year. -

Not doubting you but how do you have this info? What is the % the away school keeps on pre sale tickets? Massillon brought over 3,00 to the game and at 7 bucks a pop thats over 20 grand easy . a bus ride and meal might run a few grand no more and boosters or the away team often take care of the food bill . Id just like to know . My guess is every team has different contracts and perhaps a set monotary amount . This is a cash cow for both teams and I hope it continues . I know we will be the biggest crowd in Massillon second only to McK. I look on the Tiger web sites and I check out all the pictures and teams like Mentor and even Harding dont bring squat for a crowd . Not to many teams travel like Steubenville and Massillon . It adds to this new rivalry . This time around though we will not be punked and pushed around and stepped on like a junior high team . Yes I remember the Tigers when I was a kid and they walked all over us and then kicked sand in our faces . I cant wait round #2FairwoodKing;493708 wrote:No, what we get from Massillon will cover expenses. I said that we will clear $1000 after those expenses. With you saying Big Red cleared 20k from the StJohn's game, is this an average week? Are you counting parking, programs, game ball, 50/50? If so, with 8 home games Big Red would clear aprox. 160k for the regular season? That's some major cabbage. -

No, the St. John's game was a very below average week. I have no idea what we cleared from the Brooke game. And no, I am not counting parking, programs, game ball, 50/50, or concessions. Now you see why we play so many home games. -
icskinsOk, I have a follow up question. Again, I do not mean this in a negative toward any school. I am just using Steubenville as an example because I saw their schedule. The OVAC has a rule that a school has to play a certain number of schools in order to qualify for the conference championship. Should the State have a similar requirement? Should a team have to play, maybe over half of their games against teams in their State in order to qualify for the playoffs?
I know that the OVAC is not the best thing to use as a comparison. I, personally, have never been a fan of the way points are awarded for playing out of state schools. I think that either way it goes it is unfair. You either get too many points or too few.
Anybody have any thoughts? Again, please do not take this as an attack on any school. -

Why was it a "very below average week"? On the Sports Friday highlights, Don Sloane said it was a nice crowd. But, he was filming from the visiters side. He never once showed the visiters stands, only the home side. Since you don't figure in programs, 50/50, game ball, parking, does that 20k only come from the gate? If you charge 7.00 a ticket, 20k would get you less than 3000 people. Harding Stadium would be over half empty. That's not a good crowd at all for that stadium. When you say "Big Red cleared", do you mean the athletic dept., or the football program? Who pays for the lights? The city, or Steubenville City Schools. I know the officials can be very expensive also. Aren't the concession stands ran by the band boosters?
