You simply said the same thing over again. Can you expand on this for me?Thinthickbigred;474787 wrote:...
As for Glenville being a city school ,well I just think some not all are not likeing that either . I said if it was say Hilliard Davidson or another subburban school that won the game that way not so much venom would have been on this thread. ...
Why would anyone care if a school is from the City or suburbs?
What makes you think people care where the team is from geographically? What's the difference? -
se-alumJust heard on the radio that O'Leary was suspended 2 games for his "gesture" after the game.

Good. Dwyer's coach is also saying that they'll forfeit the games rather than play without him...which would be hilariously stupid. It's a shame such an amazingly talented player has to double as a classless punk.se-alum;476695 wrote:Just heard on the radio that O'Leary was suspended 2 games for his "gesture" after the game. -

I have trouble labeling him a classless punk over one flip of the bird, especially in THAT emotionally charged of a situation. Keep in mind a couple Glenville players were taunting him as well, so it's classlessness all around if it is labeled as such.
I agree with a suspension though, but it should probably have only been 1 game (most Ohio suspensions for minor things are usually 10% of the season - 1 game if its football and 2 games for most other sports)
I really hope the coach doesn't sit out of the next 2 games to "prove a point" or whatever. That's not fair to the rest of the team whatsoever and will accomplish absolutely nothing. Willingly screwing themselves out of the FHSAA playoffs because they disagree with the series of events thus far just seems monumentally dumb. -

Kirk Herbstreit upset over Dwyer-Glenville result
“It made me sick to my stomach,” said Kirk Herbstreit. -
ts1227It appears Herbstreit is lobbying the FHSAA on behalf of O'Leary, trying to get them to at least reduce the suspension it if not drop it.
As I said before, I'd like to see a game dropped off of it, but it does need to be at least that 1 game.
Also, it said the Dwyer AD isn't going to let the coach forfeit any games like he wanted to.

ThinthickbigredBig deal about the kid giving the bird . Classless punk cmon that is a bit extreme let the coach handle it not some stuffed shirt . Who out there has not givin the one finger salute?
-
SpeedofsandDave Cecutti, of the Ohio Capital Conference, where those “officials” came from:
“I’m sure there are a lot of people in the state of Florida who would want to see that crew suspended for the rest of the season, but that’s not the way we work. We have to trust the judgment of the officials and the calls they make on the field.”
and:
“OCC referees are evaluated at the end of the season based on reports from games. Cecutti, who was at the game, said he had not seen a report from the game but does not expect the officials to be disciplined.”
Wow. -
queencitybuckeyeWhy do people act as if there's a line of people waiting to suit up as high school officials so anyone who screws up can just be fired?

If one of your Big Red did so, would he be playing next week? Not a chance in hell. He'd be lucky if Reno didn't chop off the offending digit. -
ThinthickbigredWhy suspend the entire crew? You got one side judge that had a clear view the others didnt . . I do believe that guy was dishonest but cant proove it . He might be 80 and cant see . This stuff unfortunatly happens all the time in HS football just not on TV . The team got screwed and it possibly hurt the HERBy "I hope not" but its time to put this to rest .
On another note If the Florida coach forfiets his teams 2 games then I think he is overreacting . Even though some stupid stuffed shirt from Florida want to be holier than thou youunfortunatly must obide because you will be hurting the fans and the other players as well . two wrongs dont make a right -

Having played for him I might know better than you . I think Reno would just abide by the stuffed shirt and sit him for the two games . It was an emotional ending and truthfully I really dont think a huge deal would have been made of it . Reno's boys are not choirs boys I can tell you that . Although Reno may have gone off on the kid I have seen it happen ,but cant be too sure . -
SpeedofsandThe Dwyer AD has said he expects the team will play tomorrow, I think the coach's statement was just a reaction to the FHSAA , not immediately realizing the forfeits would eliminate them from the playoffs. The school had already punished Nick including an in school suspension. If I was in charge of the FHSAA I'd change the game result to "no contest" and but out of Dwyer's business.

I understand the sentiment, but would set a precident you really don't want any part of. It would be a cure far worse than the disease.
