A glenville player had the ball. No idea how. But that's how it endedSykotyk;474417 wrote:After seeing the final play again on SportsCenter, a quick comment. It appears beyond any doubt that he crossed the line.
My question, I guess, since SportsCenter's replay doesn't show it or the camera angle didn't get it, but where exactly was the ball when the play was over that the ref picked up to place for the next down? Was it picked up in the endzone, at the one, etc? Considering there was no sign that it was being held by another Dwyer player, I assume the QB had the ball, so where exactly was it when the ref grabbed the ball?
As for clock control, the refs screwed the pooch at the end. Not running it at the start of the one play, not stopping the clock to huddle to discuss anything, etc.

Like I said earlier watch the end of the game and give a completely unbiased opinion of the officiating which I believe will prove the point people are trying to make.
What did I say man !!!! I was just on here talking up OHIO !
I have seen the replays now and I agree that the refs blew it . But you know what I think that alot of you rightous guys on here wouldnt care so much if Jack Nicholson's grandson wasnt on the other team and I dont think alot of you rightious guys would be posting so much if instead of it being Glenville it were say Hilliard Davidson or some subburban school . YEP I SAID IT and I KNOW in some cases I am right !!!!
And yes if it happened to the Red Id be furious no doubt. i dont know if it was malicious . that is kind of hard to proove . but truthfully stuff like that happens all the time in HS football . and truth of the matter that game could have gone either way . Since it didnt happen to one of our schools I am not so mad . I am not saying it is right . I am saying I am just not so upset like you guys . I think alot of it has to do with Glenville being a city school . Now come on here and call me a bunch af names and then some of you go look in the mirror and tell me Im wrong . you know who you are . -

What does the fact that it was Glenville or a city school have to do with it??Thinthickbigred;474538 wrote:...and I dont think alot of you rightious guys would be posting so much if instead of it being Glenville it were say Hilliard Davidson or some subburban school . I though I understood your position but now I am completely confused. -
ts1227I think Glenville's position of essentially being Ohio State Junior College and playing at OSU could have tied into it. Those were most likely Central District refs, and all it takes is one person out of many who could have done it to put a bug in their ear about treating Ginn good.
Do I think that happened? Not necessarily, but I wouldn't rule it out.
It's definitely not a race thing, though. -
vball10setI'm just sick and embarrassed by what transpired the last 40 seconds of this game. I don't know what kind of reprocussions are out there for high school referees, but these guys should not work any more games (at the very least the crew chief)--it was a frickin' joke....and I wanted Glenville to win!!!

It shouldnt but now that I know J.Nickolson's grandson was playing on the other team . I can see the attitude now because he was Mr Ohio State and everything and That initself probably had something to do with that team coming up here .Con_Alma;474679 wrote:What does the fact that it was Glenville or a city school have to do with it??

As for Glenville being a city school ,well I just think some not all are not likeing that either . I said if it was say Hilliard Davidson or another subburban school that won the game that way not so much venom would have been on this thread. ... My position was and always is OHIO first . I missed the controversy at first but then caught it on ESPN . I think the refs blew it as well and if I were a Florida guy Id be real mad and if it happened to my team Id be sick as hell and pizzed but it didnt it happened to the bad guys . I dont think its right but misconduct by an official has to be prooven . I do think one of them officials is of low character and did not do the right thing but that is just an opinion that I share with you people . But who knows maybe the guy is just not that good and blew the call it is conjecture . I dont like us winning by those means but there is nothing that can be done about it now . It did give the Herby a black eye IMO . However in future events I dont want make up calls and I just want the most honest officials to do these games . I will hope Glenville does well the rest of the way as all Ohio teams vs out of state opponents especially the south . I hope this shows I may favour Ohio but I would never ever cheat another that is a bogus way of winning . I think we have all seen some shady dealings in HS football ,but lets not punish Glenville . They may have got a lucky break or two but in reality those teams were pretty even . It just ended badly . I think the Florida team was robbed no doubt about it . -

bases_loadedNo one is disputing it was a catch. But the ref was on the 20 behind the player. Not sitting in front of him like said camera man.

Never knew Jack Nicholson had anything to do with OSU or Dwyer. heeeere's my grandson Nicky!!! -
ThinthickbigredId be willing to bet 10-1 that because Jack Nicholsons grandson was playing for the Florida team that is why they were chosen to come to the shoe. Where Jack has doted the i in OHiO. Also that catch that should have been six ,that was a tough call . I cant fault the ref on that one . However the ball carrior was clearly over at the end but so be it . This case is closed .

So witty. OK, not so much. FYI..Speed is still an Ohio high school football guy. Just sayin'. -
WaltOkay... the refs blew the call, or calls, but this happens every year. It's just that not all games are on TV or national TV where they can get great camera angles. I've been going to high school games every Friday night for the past 20 years and I've probably seen dozens of blown calls that had a significant impact on the outcome of the game.
If Dwyer's special teams weren't complete crap they wouldn't have blown a 21-9 lead and wouldn't have needed that late TD to pull out a win! -
WaltSykotyk;474324 wrote:As for ushering the players off the field. I think the issue was the first game appeared to have run long and the Smith-PC players were already out getting ready to warm up to start their game. The 'celebration' by Glenville was a few players high-stepping down the field, jawing at the Dwyer players, pointing, and bobbing their heads. Their coaches held them back, but I saw at least one flip the bird at the Glenville players.
Sykotyk
Did you see the Glenville players get in the faces of the Oscar Smith kids as they came out to warm up? While it wasn't a great example of sportsmanship or class by Ohio, the Pickerington kids got a kick out of seeing the Glenville kids tell Oscar Smith that they were about get their butt kicked. -
