Norwalk St. Paul def. Grove City Christian 52-7

RacerbuckCongratulations to GCC on a fine season. Making it to the state semi-finals in only your 4th year of having a football team is a great achievement. Hold your heads up high.
Good luck to St. Paul in the state final. I hope that this will finally be our year!!! -
gigga41Nice game Flyers, now let's find a way to beat Delphos!

underdog32Congratulations to Grove City Christian on a fine season. You have a lot to be proud of. The state semi-finals is a huge accomplishment, especially for a team only in its fourth year of existence. You guys have a lot to build on! As far as the game tonight, wow. I thought if St. Paul came and and played good, sound football, they could win by 3 scores. NO disrespect to GCC, but St. Paul dominated this game. The defense played lights out. They kept the momentum up despite the 2 Flyer miscues down in the red zone. GCC did have some good speed on defense and did a good job not giving up break-away plays. Time for the Flyers to focus on next week. DSJ is a powerhouse and the mistakes made tonight cannot be made next week. GO FLYERS!
-
ButkusGreat game Flyers! Time to take the next step. Hats off to GCC, great season for the Eagles. Your fan support was tremendous all throughout the game. St. Paul will be the underdog next weekend, I think they can use it to their advantage and work to put the pressure on DSJ. Who knows, the Bluejays may even be impressed with the Flyer's speed and quickness. Great game again Flyers, best of luck next week!
-
Mac_RulesWithout a doubt the best fan support I have personally seen in a blowout loss. Very impressed with Grove City fans. You guys did your team right tonight.
-
underdog32Good point Butkus and mac rules, I thought the GCC fans were great. I didn't meet any personally but I liked the fact that they stayed at the game even though things weren't going well and cheered just as hard at the end as they did at the start of the game.
-
GoChiefsGreat game NSP. GCC..great season! Nothing to be ashamed of!
-
zaurusMac Rules is correct. The GCC fan support was outstanding. You definitely showed your boys that you are behind them through good times and not so good times. You stayed to the end and showed your support until the team left the field. I have seen many lop sided wins through the years and many times the fans file out and basically turn their backs on the team. Can't understand why but it happens. It didn't tonight. You obviously have the program going in the right direction. Hopefully we will get a chance to meet up again next year. Congrats on a nice season, one to remember. Keep the head hung high Eagles, you made it farther then 117 other Div. VI schools. Quite and accomplishment. Again congrats. Lets Go Flyers! We have one more to go.

MessyDinosaurGreat Season GCC Classy fans!! Goodluck next week NSP lets get one!

sitegoodWhat was the deal with GCC leaving first team on the field when St. Paul had second and third string players on the field? GCC coach must feel real good about scoring on the reserve team when the game was over! My opinion when one team pulls starters other coach does the same. GCC coach NO CLASS!!!
-
GoChiefsSo..team A has better starters than team B..team B has better reserves than team A..so team B sits starters and puts in reserves..team A should do the same? J/k...No team wants to see a goose egg on the final scoreboard..no matter how bad they are getting beat. Doesn't mean he has no class.

I agree that if one team pulls their starters the other team should follow suit. But I would not go as far as to say the other coach has no class. The GCC starters have accomplished a lot this season and they were not going to go out without a fight. If I was a senior on that team or a starter for that matter, you could bet I would be there until the bitter end. The coach would have to drag me off the field. As a St. Paul fan I love watching them shut an opponent out, but I am not going to say the other team has no class just because they want to put points on the board.sitegood wrote: What was the deal with GCC leaving first team on the field when St. Paul had second and third string players on the field? First... CONGRATULATIONS FLYERS!!! What an awesome team, awesome line on both sides of the ball, a QB that just won't quit and coverage like a blanket. I guess I was wrong to harsh 4 touchdown win predictions amazing it was almost double that. What a great job NSP has done this year and good luck next week.. take it all the way!sitegood wrote: What was the deal with GCC leaving first team on the field when St. Paul had second and third string players on the field? As to the subbing.. the only sore point my wife and I have had this season is the we don't sub in our reserves enough to get them more game experience and when we do it's a wholesome lineup change rather then spot subbing throughout the game to let the 2,3,4th stringers play with the starters.
I surely would have like to have seen GCC start spot subbing when the game was def out of reach and we were down 45-0 to at least give every team member who has worked so hard this year to have 1 or 2 plays during this final game.
Congrats on a great blessed season this year Eagles we love you seniors and thanks for all you've done! Next weeks final will be a great game and worth the drive to Massilion.
Finish Your Dreams Flyers!!

It wasn't right to let those seniors who accomplished so much in their 4 years go out on such a sour note. I for one am grateful to see Jessie Barns end the game on a positive note with his last touchdown.sitegood wrote: What was the deal with GCC leaving first team on the field when St. Paul had second and third string players on the field? SquirmydogI was a little surprised the Flyers did not hang around and pray with us after the game. Even public schools prayed with us. Nothing will take away the fact that this team is region champs after 4 short years of playing football. I am not down one bit. The fact that the team statyed and prayed after a 52-7 whoopin and and the fans cheered them loudly no matter how badly they were manhandled is a testament to the long term future of this ministry, and yes, this team is a ministry. they acted the same in defeat as they did in victory. That is the sign of grounded, quality young men. I am so very proud of each and every one of them. We have a great group coming back. I am looking forward to next year!
Congratulations to the Flyers on their own special season. I believe you are now one win away from your first state championship. Good luck next week! Thanks for being such an important part of GCC's season of firsts.
Thanks too for keeping this thread civil and respectful. Of course we are going to everything we can to prop up our team. The true fun, imo, is to go back and forth without becoming personal and vulgar. This was a great week. -

I was too late to do any socializing. I rode my motorcycle up and parked right in front of the dentist building on Katherine. Chilly ride. It's all good. A great bunch of fans. GCC made a great run for such a new program. They were just over-matched. I don't think NSP was that fast, GCC just couldn't get off blocks because of the size and strength difference. And the defense just poured through the O line. St. Paul fans talk about speed because they have so many sweeps for big yards.....I hate to tell you but it's called HOLDING!!! Seriously, great performance NSP and a clean game. I think you've got something for Delphos. You've got one more fan for at least next weekend, good luck.Squirmydog wrote:

for someone to say that the GCC coach had no class was unnecessary. the moggy coach did the same thing. this could have been sp's 8th shutout this season. livengood has put in his 2nd and 3rd teams the second half many times this yr, but a team in the playoffs doesnt ever wanna end up with 0 pts so thats why the coaches do so. and WOW does gcc have some a-m-a-z-i-n-g fans! they were still on their feet screaming with the last 6.5 seconds left in the game. theres no doubt you guys will be in this game again soon. BUT for the compliment of you saying that sp has no speed, and that they make big plays because of holding??? COME ON! did you watch the same game everyone else did? sp won this game because they are so fast on both sides of the ball. their first two drives had two HUGE miscues for a playoff game and the score still ended up 52-7! gcc had no first downs until sp had their 3rd penalty of the playoffs and gave them a first down because they had no time to take the ball anywhere due to sp's speed! then you say the defense poured through the o line, gee... i wonder why? DEFINATELY NOT because sp was the bigger team (because they were much smaller), its because sp was the FASTER team, and much better team. this game was even more evidence that region 23 is the weakest in the stateridgerunner88 wrote:

wesflyer87Fantastic display by the Flyers tonight! One more to go. I couldn't agree more with all the comments about the GCC fans. Unbelievable from beginning to end. 1st class all the way. My Dad & I were commenting non-stop about you guys throughout the game. You have every right to be exactly as proud as you sounded tonight. Great season. Congrats.

Ridge you need to watch the film on this game.Because you obviously were not paying attention with regard to the comment you made. #44 was out of the game early, the first to be taken out (3rd quarter). If you recall GCC got the ball to start the 3rd quarter and had a 3 and out. We got the ball and #44 did play that series. Following that the defense got another stop and #44 was replaced. He was replaced by #14 who ran for a score in the 4th quarter. #44 Griffin was the first starter pulled after one series in the 3rd quarter. Running backs were the first to be pulled. The whole offense was pulled with like 7-8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. If you recall Coach Livengood had to call a timeout to get things organized. That was following the fumbled kick return.sitegood wrote: Their star running back #44 was still in with a couple minutes left in the game. St. Paul should have started pulling starters before the fourth quarter even started not with 5minutes left. -
94hoopsRidgerunner,
You have absolutely ZERO clue as to what your talking about.
Firstand foremost #44 Brian Griffin was pulled from the offensive side of the ball after one possession in the 3rd quarter. His replacement #14 Zac Service carried the ball 14 times for 97 yards in a quarter and a half. He was 3 yards away from giving NSP THREE 100 YARD RUSHERS ON THE NIGHT.
Second, NSP did not throw the football in the entire 4th quarter. They were gaining so many yards on the ground, they didn't have too. They rushed for over 350 yards tonight.
IF YOUR GOING TO POST GET YOUR FACTS STARIGHT.
I also agree that whoever said the GCC coach doesn't have nay class needs to only look in the mirror. That statement was uncalled for abd it typical of someone's first post who can only bitch and gripe.
Kudo's to the GCC fans for their undying love for their team. We would welcome you to massilon next week and hope that you could teach us how you do it. -
RacerbuckThis article makes it sound like St. Paul was bigger than Grove City Christian.
