Things will pick up again next week when we have Rally in Death Valley.
At least the truth has come out. Fairwood King, I admire your honesty. -

How old are you Fairwood? You still take orders from a High School football coach? -

I'm 62 and I don't take orders from Reno. That's why I said despite his complaining, he didn't stop anyone last week.
Having said that, let me also say that it is not my intent to antagonize him. I have respected his request that we not repeat what he tells us in boosters club meetings. I don't want to do anything to hurt the team.
I think the Big Red posters were just talked out over the Brooke game. I personally don't have much to say about the St. John game. That's why I haven't posted. -

Good luck to all the region 11 teams this week.

In order to play these teams, we would have to sign home-and-home contracts. The school has made it clear that they want to play eight home games every year. The math just doesn't work.
There is also the problem that these schools are in conferences and are obigated to play conference teams after week 3. Big Red's week 2 is taken up by rallies in Pittsburgh. I imagine this is going to continue. Week 3 is for Brooke, if we continue to play them. I haven't heard anything one way or the other about this, but I am guessing that we will continue to play them. That just leaves week 1, and nobody wants to play a powerhouse in the opening week. -
ManO'WarThey would like 7 home games per year, 6 minimum.
Personally I would like all 10, unless it is a nice stadium, such as the venues for this year. -

Trust me on this-- the school wants eight home games and will probably have them. -

How many people usually show for a booster meeting??? -

About two dozen. -
Thinthickbigred@ Fairwoodking. What do you mean Reno lowered the boom on us posters? I missed that memo please explain. Ty

ManO'WarReno told us on many occasions that they want 7, but then he asked the Boosters if they would like 5 home and 5 away...and everyone said a resounding NO.
I'm sure the school would take 8, 9, or 10 home games though if they could get them, but that is pretty hard to do.
We had 6 in 02 and no one really complained. -
pooterPeople don't mind traveling, but clubs lose money when this is done.

It keeps you chirping though doesnt it? If the Big Red posters go away this site loses 1/4 of its volume . hahahah and that aint no joke -

There's no memo. It's what he said at the boosters club meeting last week. He came down very hard on me personally. That was two weeks in a row that he yelled at me. That's why I didn't attend this week's meeting. At any rate, he doesn't like for people to post things about the team on blogs. I backed off but a lot of people didn't. There was a lot posted last week about the Brooke game. He was particularly pissed that so many people were predicting a blowout. Then when I told him I predicted a close, tight game, he nearly took my head off.
I didn't post much of anything this week because I really didn't have anything to say. I think that is the way most of the posters feel. We know St. John's will be a tough game, but we don't know what to say about it. -

All I can say is WOW.
Hard to believe he has that much influence on the fans.
I guess I don't see how a blog prediction has any bearing on the team. -
ManO'WarI've been to Salem's stadium....there's a reason they can't get more home games.
BTW, Big Red didn't need any home field advantage to pound Salem last year in the playoffs. -

The players read these blogs. Reno didn't want them to read that the Brooke game would be an easy blowout. He wanted the players to stay focused and to be prepared for a tough game. -

I think Dan Ifft is a good coach and I admire what he's been able to do with Dover's program year after year. However, I come nowhere near to worshiping the ground the man walks on.

Sex, money and power turn the world. Now I don't know how he stands on the first two of those, but in that part of the state Reno sure has the power! Lots of Big Red fans have plenty of swagger on the boards but I'll venture a guess nobody gets in Reno's face! -

I like your posts and I mean no disrespect to you, but do you feel this gives him the right to chew your ass in a more-or-less public venue like a booster club meeting?FairwoodKing;487168 wrote:The players read these blogs. Reilly Stadium is one of the finer venues around, not to mention its historical significance as hosting the first night football ever played in Ohio.ManO'War;487154 wrote:I've been to Salem's stadium....there's a reason they can't get more home games.

And as I recall we led at halftime, 10-6; too bad we let it slip away ..................... not this year though. -

Allowing 28 unanswered points isn't letting "it slip away", it's a second half beating!QuakerOats;487230 wrote:Reilly Stadium is one of the finer venues around, not to mention its historical significance as hosting the first night football ever played in Ohio.

I was thinking the same thing. I mean the guy is one of the greatest coaches ever, but if he does that to me in a public setting he'd promptly be told to suck it.
