DIII; Region 11 ...... your thoughts

I still think that Sheridan is the wildcard to win this region. They averaged almost 50 pts a game on offense and allowed just over 7 pts per game. It's not that they are an unknown, but a lot of people seem to think that BR or Marlington have already wrapped up this region. Any team that puts up those kind of numbers has to be respected no matter who they play or what league they play in. Sheridan has the tradition and playoff experience plus a couple of trips to the final in the past. Seems that they know what they are doing as a program. Just ask BR fans about Sheridan. All that being said, I hope I'm wrong about Sheridan come Saturday night or it's going to be a long trip home.Viking;539419 wrote:Big Red or Marlington will win this region. I agree, there is quite a bit of balance from top to bottom, this region is fairly wide open.
But at least two of bigger ones are guaranteed to go down in week 1 games, BR or Dover, & Sheridan or Salem. Should both be great games. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top. -

What about Marlington?? Minerva has a good chance to knock them out! Very close game the first time... -

Minerva could very well pull off an upset, they have an explosive offense, as well as Marlington. Defense will be the key to both teams.
But I was more at looking at what 'may be considered' the top 5 teams in the region, BR, Sheridan, Marlington, Dover, & possibly Salem. And at least two of those teams have to be going down the first week.
But I still believe the region is very well represented & any number of teams could win or pull off a nice upset. Licking Valley may very well be a top team as well, I just know very little about them. -

You must be referring to our 2004 playoff game with Sheridan at Dover. I'll never forget that game. It was 10-0 Sheridan before we could get into the stadium. Parking lot got jambed up. That was the game our QB got hurt and a sophomore was put in. That sophomore never lost another high school game for us. Sheridan had 5 shutouts reg. season and Steubenville had no one score more than 7 points in their reg. season. A great game. Final score ended up 22-18 Sheridan.TheQ;539446 wrote:I still think that Sheridan is the wildcard to win this region. If we should meet each other this year, the game may end up at Dover again. -
Go4alOngbOmBBeing a Licking Valley fan, and actually having stepped on the field against Sheridan, let me tell you, they are a well coached ball club, they will run, run run and run again, and its everything you can do to stop it. The last week of the season vs NewLexington tho, they opened up a pass attack, Im sure to make their playoff yeams think. Their Defense is very solid and always a hard hitting team. Thay may have played a waeker scedule this year because the MVL was a little down, but I PROMISE YOU, they are a solid and well coached team, who knows how to run the ball and hit like a ton of bricks!

Look at the bright side, if you win you will improve your winning percentage to 33% against Ohio teams. -

Salem will face a very, very good Sheridan team.
We look forward to the challenge. Last year we had to go all the way to Granville to beat them in round 1; this sort of feels like deja-vu.
Go Quakers !!!!!!! -

Indeed. Dover most certainly doesnt want to be tarnished with that shame. That would be so crushing to that teams confidence . But for us it would be a miricle like no other . We will be dancing in the streets half sauced having cashed our government checks and will feel like a ton of bricks will be off of us . Oh the exasportation. dont know if i can take it. -
