DIII; Region 11 ...... your thoughts

  I have a question for the members that follow OVAC teams. How does the OVAC determine scheduling for athletics (football in particular)? Are there rules determining how many league teams you would play in one season and who you would play? With so many teams in the conference it would seem that there would be a lot of flexibility. Just curious.

  Teams make their own schedule. If they want to be considered for the OVAC title they must play a certain number of OVAC teams and a points system determines the wnners in each class.

  In other sports they have a the same requirements but the top 4 play a tournament in each class for the title.

  You said that with a smirk I know . I am not asking us to do what WVA does and yet they play 2 less playoff games . We play 5 . I need to investigate a little further . I think WPIAL play like 4 home game and then go to Hienz field and then go to Hershy so they get 4 home games for the higher seed . What does Texas do? Florida ? Ill bet we are not in the norm . I only propose 2 games out of 5 . I dont think that is out of line.

  I can't see 8-2 Big Red holding off 10-0 Marlington for the top seed. If Big Red loses to Ursuline, Marlington would get more than enough L2 points if they win out.
  
  
  
  That being said, it's always possible (in any region) that the #2 seed could have an "easier" road to the regional championship game than the top seed.

  We may find that out . All our D-1 teams are winning that we have beat the two NY teams are winning Tonowanda is not a d-6 team as posted . They are higher . we play 7 or 8 D-1 teams this year . Marlington plays almost all d-3 teams .

  Just came from that url site ( 7:40 AM) and there is no change; still has week 6 listed. Also, I think he has the L2 div. wrong for B.R.. We have played 6 out of state teams; he has us down for 4 (96). There may be a circumstance I am not aware of that would justify that 96. Have to wait for that one.

  Looking at Dover's chances to get into week #11, this is what I see that needs to happen. I would say most listed have a decent shot of happening.
  
  #1 - Dover needs to take care of business and win out.
  #2 - Root for Canfield to win 2 of their last 3, Claymont to beat a winless West Muskingum team in week 10 and for New Phila to beat John Glenn in week 9. - Would finish Dover at approximately 20.2
  
  #3 - A Heath (6-1) win over Granville this week should put Dover ahead of them to stay - I didn't feel like calucating this one out, but I can't see them finishing ahead of Dover without winning this game.
  #4 - Tri-Valley (6-1) win over Sheridan. A 9-1 Sheridan team with a loss to Tri-Valley could miss out on the playoffs this year. Pretty sure they would at least finish below an 8-2 Dover team. Quick calculations would finish them at 19.00
  #5 - Indian Creek (4-3) win over Edison in week 10. Dover and Edison would be close if both win out, but I think they will need Creek to beat them in week 10 to finish ahead of the Wildcats, my calculations would have them at 17.49
  #6 - Louisville to beat Minerva in week 10. My calculations put Minerva at 18.65 with a loss to Louisville
  #7 - West Jefferson (7-0) to beat Licking Heights in week 9. I'm pretty sure Dover will finish ahead of them even if they win out, but this loss would guarantee it.

  That was another scenario I was looking at, and yes if NC would beat Valley Dover would jump them as well. Just looked at my total for Carrollton and noticed I had them losing this week to Northwest (did this a couple weeks ago), so the Warriors could give us a little bump this week also. After seeing what they did against Louisville, can Carrollton get Minerva in week 9?
  Also, they really only need a couple of 3-7 above to happen to reach the 8 seed, if they all happen it would just be icing on the cake to try to avoid Big Red and Marlington in round 1.

  Pretty sure he means that if Salem were to beat East Liverpool in week 10, which is entirely possible, that East Liverpool would drop from third place, which is something that remains an area of speculation.

  We should be able to beat NW this week and South to help you guys out ... I am not holding my breath against Minerva cause I think they are better than Louisville this year but it is a rivalry game so who knows.

  Doubt it. Hopefully Tri-Valley will have enough defense to shut down what looks like a high powered Generals offense (they're also no slouches on defense). They've traded wins over the last few years or so, so hopefully...... The Potters won't help because it looks like they should win out before going to Salem. #7 Licking Valley and #8 Edison face two good programs in Newark Catholic and Bellaire so Salem will be looking for help there. Salem will just have to take care of business over the next three weeks (they'll have to win out to have any hope for a home playoff) and maybe the computer gods will treat them kindly.
