Although I didn't come right out and say it, that is how I feel, too.

Been reading this site as well as JJ's for years, just never got the guts to get a name. I decided to go for it, I enjoy watching the Riders play.

    RE: film night....bad idea.

I think it would lead to constant 2nd guessing and negative comments. Attendance would be high the week after a loss but small on weeks after a win. It would be armchairs thinking they have the magic elixir.

Sounds great in theory....but I think it's an opportunity for people to "get loose" and attack the program and that's not what we need. Coach Davault is very accessible but the man has a job to do...and one of those jobs isn't to answer to me. No more than how BRF runs his classroom is any of my business unless it affects my child, and then I schedule a meeting in private.

    5knots,
good to hear a kid on a gluten-free diet is as "well fed" as Mason...gives my boy some hope.

One more thing, that RR1 touched on. This suggestion came off of a loss and I think it's better to step back and assess in your own way than to suggest a meeting where the coaches are expected to explain themselves. Just be supportive.

Ashland was the better team. Period!

RR1...arrived at bw3 at 5:30..u must have left
I notice that Malone lost yesterday and is 1-4, so........... about that playbook, it doesn't seem to be working there :)

Did anyone notice the idiot in the Orrville stands that was yelling at the coaches and players in the 2nd half, finally the police showed up and escorted him out. The last thing we need is an open film showing, where the coaches in the stands get to mouth off in an open meeting to the coaches. Some coaches in the bleachers think they have all the answers and seem to question all play calls that don't work, like run the ball instead of passing or pass the ball the run isn't working. That's why I like to bring a radio and not listen to all the negativity from the experts:)

Riders1, if you would of done a little digging you would of seen that the head coach that I played for was from Kansas, a school in Kansas opened up and he wanted to go back home. That being said we got a completely new staff, and they are running a completely different offense after they brought in that new coaching staff. Its the Spread Option now, which is why I no longer am playing. Focusing on school now and graduating a year early.

Look up the stats for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 season (when we had that offensive coordinator). We were nationaly ranked in a lot of offensive catagories, and were as high as #10 in the nation in the NAIA. Say what you want, but the offense worked....and worked well!

    I'm done on here though...

I did notice that fan pacing along the fence in the bleachers. Was wearing an I love Jesus hat too. I thought it was quite funny, but no place for that at a game. My favorite qoute from him though was "My grandmother can spit harder than you can hit!" haha she has to be an olympian spitter, has he seen our defense hit?

I guess we answered the film night question. I would be interested to know if there is much cornering and attacking of the coach at Smithville or Norwayne during film night ? I guess it depends on the community and program. I would venture to guess that at Massillon it could get ugly at times. It also seems that the majority people on this sight believe more people would be trying to tell the coach what he should do rather then listening and seeing on film how or why plays were successful or failed. You may be correct we will probably never know. There is also the argument that the whole thing would be a waste of time for the coach. Maybe it would be. One thing for sure the suggestion may have come off a loss and there is probably some truth in the notion that attendance would be higher after a loss, but just a suggestion of change with regards to coach parent/fan interaction sure did wake the sleeping giants to stand up for our coach. It is a good thing though

It's all right, Go Riders! You brought up a point for discussion on our own thread and there were excellent points made, both sides. Ya never know till ya try! We are gonna be all right.

I hope the team will learn one thing from this loss. When a teams falls behind against good opponents the chances of coming from behind are slim. We were lucky in the Lex and Senior games. Mistakes like penalties and turnovers take on new meaning with great opponents. We made numerous mistakes against Ashland and the mistakes eventually led to points. Example Blown coverage on defense right after we scored. I don't remember seeing anybody covering that receiver. Defense jumping offsides, Fumble in 3rd quarter, missed tackles. I hope the players reflect on these mistakes enough to understand just how costly the mistakes were to them. We made a great attempt at coming back. Taking nothing away from Ashland they were a great team and made few mistakes. One interception I think. I believe we may have won that game if you take away the mistakes.

We can say coulda, shoulda, woulda but it's done now. We can't change anything but how we play next week against Madison.

1.) don't know who the fella is that the police took out. I do know that he seems to have a bit of a handicap upstairs and he usually hangs with us guys down roaming the sideline. I pas him often back and forth. The problem at Ashland is it is not possible to do that. He is harmless..but not a guy you want sitting in the stands. I'll try to keep an eye out for him and keep him out of ear shod and in a happy mood.

    2) The film thing would be fun for the fact that many things that happen in the game happen for a specific reason. Case in point. the lest TD Ashland scored they had a big run right up the middle Where 21 gets the hand off. We were in a type of blitz where our Mike linebacker is blitzing from outside the tackle.....as soon as the play started his guard and tackle pulled and his only hope was that Fuller keep the ball. There is a prime example of a situation that would be interesting for a fan to learn about. Maybe something ofter the season could be put together?

If we make mistakes like we made against other opponents it probably ends like it has so far. With the weak opponents we have great athletes and they find the way to overcome the mistakes and win. Example Lex, Senior. We make unforced errors and our good opponents capitalize on this. They score and eventually win. Example Ashland My opinion is Madison is a weak opponent. Clear Fork and Wooster are good opponents and so is probably every opponent in the playoff. If we want to get to the playoffs and get anywhere once we make it there we have to begin limiting the number of unforced errors. I don't remember Orrville having the turnovers or penalties last year like we are having this year.

I like the after season thing as an alternative. Your 2nd point was great. Just one play where we get a glimpse into the mechanics of what took place on a play and what the options were.

The booster club meetings back in the 70's were pretty much all football and it was film review. Sounds like exactly what is still going on in the wcal. I don't know when it stopped and why but I can venture a couple guesses.

I thought beforehand that this game might play out like the 2006 game...and it did...we scratched and clawed for all 18 points that night, but seemed everything came so easy for Ashland....that's what it felt like this past week.

Mistakes against good teams are tough to overcome.

If you read OrrViews, you would know that Paul Brown got our Booster Club started. And he said, "show the boosters plays to look for in the upcoming game". He didn't say anything about the "boosters" critiquing the plays for the next game, though! ;-)

The "fan" that got kicked out should be banned from attending any more games. Enough already.

If the "fan" was like that in the stands, what doe he say on the sidelines? I have always felt that there are to many people on the sidelines that really don't need to be there. Especially come playoff games like the finals at massillon and Canton it looks like a family reunion out there.
  • riders1
BTW Ashland should thank us as they are now 1st in there region from 7th last week.

Beating one Div 4 school jumped a D2 team 6 spots. Unheard of.

If they would have beat Genoa how high would they go :)

Thought I'd share...I hate the notion of looking past CF and Madison, but that's not what's going on. 6 days just isn't enough time to talk about the 100th game.

My brother in law helped me with the graphic design stuff...I just told him what I wanted.....I like it a lot.

I didn't mean to imply I am on the sidelines. I meant the track area behind the barricades is usually where he roams. Never heard him say anything horrible....of course we have always won at home?

older guy....always has a walkman on...carries on conversations with himself a lot?

If so i know who you're talking about.

BRF, wasnt that the guy that someone thought was me several years ago? You took a pic at the downtown thing and posted it, said I was in the pic and someone guessed that's who I was.
