Orrville Football - 2010

We have said that all year long, but nothing ever changes.....as fans it is very difficult to watch when you know what needs to be done but it's not called, or that player isn't in the game etc...

All the Orrville guys on here have said Mason and Davis need more carries....look what happened on that ONE drive where we had both of them in the backfield, we marched right down the field ate up clock and scored. Also the pass plays on that drive were very easy reads for our young QB, and he made nice throws...one for a TD on that drive.

Don't get me wrong Simpson is a good back, but he is to gimpy and as started to dance and run more east/west than north/south. We need to give more carries to these guys and stop running that dumb misdirection play. We started that my junior year and it is so hard to time up and the defense knows what is coming. Coaches need to learn how to get Turner the ball more and not just on that quick throw to the outside.

Defensively we looked scared in the secondary and affraid to get physical with teh receivers. Man up and make him beat you off the ball, we have good enough athletes to do that but we always run zone coverage, and a good passing team knows how to find those holes and Ashland did that tonight.

We got a big wake-up call tonight and I hope the boys learned their lesson on penalties....it's week 7 don't you think it's time to learn to not go until the ball is snapped? I think this coaching staff has gotten too leniant with these players. When I played if you got a penalty you got yelled at for doing it. I see nothing from the coaches, and it has gotten worse as the season has progressed. I love Coach Davault, but he needs to put the hammer down on these issues.

I feel like I am beating a dead horse right now....

    I hear ya, Go Riders!

AND, of course, anyone can post up with their stuff, BUT....this thread is for the Rider fans only....IMO, of course. You outsiders want to make your comments, then go to the game thread. Let us hash out our own stuff here. Just IMO AGAIN, though, in case you want to say that I have no right to say that. To our boys: good try and valiant effort. We will now re-group and get ready for next week. And if any "outsider" quotes any of this in their next post.....beware!

What's the rule for getting thrown out of a game? How many Unsportsman like penalties does a guy have to have before he is tossed?
  • wallyk
What makes you think I'm not a Rider fan? I saw what looked like a talented kid and wondered why he wasn't used more. Get over yourself.

Does this count? Get over yourself man!!

There were also missed tackles and sacks. Davis missed a sack he should have made and then then qb ran for 20 yds. Thats not good. He also just missed tackles he should have made. I saw the missed tackles by Mason also. More to learn from film and work on. Great linebackers that are carrying a big load. Trevor White played a good game from what I observed. Max was a non factor did not see a sack and just was unable to get the pressure we were expecting. Until a guy leaves the field because of an injury my take is they are good to go. Maybe Max has rib problem and maybe Ashlands O line played him well. I do not feel that any Div 4 team is going to have as good of a passing game as Ashland. They have the real deal. I take them over Copley. They are in the same region as each other. Be fun to watch if they face each other.

You are the perfect example of a poor winner. You won, yet you come on to our thread to rub it in. Seriously, good luck to your team the rest of the way and I will try to "get over myself".
  • OQB
Ashland would beat Copley with ease!
  • Go Riders
A couple good tough grabs by Brenner also.

The combination and Mason and Matt in the red zone works real well. That is a keeper in my book.

Wow Go Away!! Or we will throw the flag for unsportsman like conduct. 15 yd. penalty and temporary locking of your keyboard.

Orrville needs to play #1 Stewart Turner alot more. He is an untapped resource that the Riders need to use!!

    Oh ok.

Go Riders I'm glad it's in your playbook, but is it going to be in coaches???
  • Go Riders
Can't let this loss get the team down. If I remember correctly the Riders lost to Ashland the year we won the state title. This gives us a lesson on where we are weak and areas where change will help. Win out and get to the playoffs and it is a new season. Triway played decent against Manchester they lost but it was close. Much closer then when we played Triway. Manchester was ranked fairly high in the Div. 4 AP poll. We will not see a team as talented as Ashland in the Div. 4 playoffs in my opinion. Good teams but not that good at passing.

They did it more the once. Maybe it is

Stuart has to have the ball in space or he has not been effective. Jet sweep has been horrible all year until he improvises tonight and reverses field on kind of a broken play.
  • Go Riders
Yeah and anytime a guy starts running backwards to make something happen you get nervous.
  • OQB
There are still pass plays that can be run to get him the ball in space. Send him in motion from outside to the slot and snap the ball before he gets to the slot position and have him run a shallow crossing route and let him find the zone. It works so well.

That goes both ways. Orrville always seems to gameplan well for the Ashland game. Even tonight, Orrville's offense found some holes in our defense that we need to fix or it could be a tough game next week and/or in the playoffs for us.

I was extremely nervous on that play, and yet he was one step away from breaking it 40 yards for a TD. GET HIM THE BALL!!

"Poor loser"? I beg to differ. I have posted TWO times my congrats and best wishes to the Arrows. I knew you would throw in the "this is a public forum" argument. But it doesn't sit well when you are on this thread rubbing it in. Take the advice of Go Riders.

I am real disappointed in Ashland's play/ pathetic on defense..I am watching right now almost every play there is someone punching or kneeing our RB in the pile...they have to coach that way. That would be our ole gal Sinister's Hubby. She should be real proud of her two boys the way they handled themselves tonight. Crap! I am proud to be Rider because we have never taught to play that way/
  • Go Riders
We always talk about the tough schedule and how it makes us ready for the playoffs. Hope we learn from this one.
