    Exactly if there is one thing I could do it would be to delete that play from our playbook.

    If you're saying he is about my age, it would be more like about YOUR age! ;-)

    Nice Picture, Ladrach has really bulked up since I seen him last.
  • RedRider1
    Saw Ryan over the summer...actually he and Chase were talking with me at the same time....now I'm a big guy...but both of these guys made me feel small.

    haha that's what DI football will get ya!

    QB1 had his game last week with no int's. He made some nice throws and had great command of the offense. I hope he and the team cam build on that and now get the penalties under control and get better this week. I never like to lose, but I was consoled last week by how Kyle looked out there. By no means was he perfect, but that was a big stage and some kids his age would have crumbled. I think he takes a couple steps forward Friday as well. Not looking like a Soph any more. Defense will be tested by some size up front and a decent run game. Gotta step up.
  • RedRider1
    ^^I think he ended up 14 for 22. Started 0 for 3...so from 2nd quarter on, he was 14 for 19. I think he had a stretch where he had 8 or 9 completions in a row.

    He threw on the run real well too.
  • OQB
    The pass plays that were called were perfect for him, and he executed them. I liked how he was going through his progressions, didn't really force anything, and through many different throws (deep, over the middle, screens, play action) accurately. I liked seeing him have control out there, at one time he was pointing out to rice what he had to do and that showed good leadership and that he is understanding the offense better. He plays well on a big stage, we just need to control the offensive, drive-killing penalties. It's hard digging yourself out of 2/3 and long situations.

    Mason and Matt must be pumped. We've been waiting to see this backfield combo on back to back series for some time. Frosh Summers needs a big night filling in for Matt. Rams will be running straight at him. We need a game where it all finally comes together. The penalties need to be at a minimum they have be very costly.
  • Go Riders
    This was an ugly win. We have to play better 1st quarter on both sides of the ball. This next game is the one where Max needs to show everybody why he is going to Indiana. Our varsity linebackers need to play their positions and not screw up. Rover and bandit better get tough. I like Graber on the field he has my vote he plays hard working never gives up.
  • 5knots
    I'll let that go for now.
  • OQB
    uh oh....stepping on some toes I see!

    Gutsy move by the staff making the decision on Max and Tre. Thank goodness it paid off. Having those two healthy for the stretch will be huge for the Riders. A turnover free game last night! Second week in a row QB1 has no int's. We didn't look sharp but that is an improvement. O-line didn't jump last night either. We're gettin' there.

    By Matts own admission he wished he would have played better. My point I guess is that CF will make us pay dearly for any mistakes. Mason played great. Now when the other chatters slam me down for my defensive idea please don't kick me to hard when I'm down!!! Ha! Ha!

    No sweat Go Riders.....that's why I said I'd let it go. Hard to convey what you really mean on here sometimes with a couple sentences. Matt had some big hits.....great one on the kickoff. He made some errors like they all do but he is all in every play! and I like that. I had a chance to watch some of the film last night so I have an advantage on some of that stuff....I will agree on one thing, #25 was busy for sure. We will need all that and more next week. I 100% would agree CF has the best running game we will have seen. I would also like to think we will have the best group of LB's they have seen. Strength vs strength. Couldn't ask for anything more. Season couldn't be playing out any better if you ask me.
  • Go Riders
    Ok since Max is back Matt will not have to cover his spot. What if we keep Summers/Zook at the weak side and pull Infield from safety and move Davis there. The idea is since CF won't pass cheat Matt up to help clog the middle. This also allows a fast hard hitter to help the secondary if CF gets past the LB's and the secondary has to tackle the big RB. May also help on the edges. Just ideas. What do all the former stud defensive Rider players think.

    CF passing game is better than advertised....mostly because you have to pay soo much attention to the run....kind of like us really. One thing different is i think our corners can handle them 1-1 coverage. I wouldn't mind seeing Cody Rice slide over to safety a bit since that position will be able to fill quickly this week and have lemon at the rover/bandit whatever it is called. Matt definitely needs to be inside and key on his reads this week. He is most valuable there.
  • OQB
    I agree, if we don't play Turner and Simpson man to man (and play up on the receiver jamming them off the ball, not ten yards off like Ashland) we shouldn't be out there. Those guys can take care of the pass, with Brenner/Infield roaming around at safety locking down that TE that will slip out for passes.

    Usually for CF, we play a 5-3 or 4-4 whatever you want to call it we bring the strong safety/Monster back up as another LB, but we do load the box and try to make them pass to beat us. It's hard to say what we really run because our OLB are DE's and they line up differently in games. My 4 LB's this week would be,
    ILB=Mason
    ILB=Matt
    OLB= Rice
    OLB=Pirman/Infield
    keep the DL the same but maybe rotate a few more guys in to keep fresh, I'm not too sure I would play the freshman LB's this week, my opinion though.

    We have to hit them in the mouth early and often and be able to out physical them across the board. I think the d-line has to play the best game of the year this week if they can hold their ground and get in the backfield we can clog things up with our LB's, and so our LB's can be free to make tackles. When our Lb's are getting blocked that is not a good sign. Need to bring plenty of blitzes and stunts (up the middle, on the edge, corner blitzes) to confuse that offensive line and cause things to break up in the backfield.

    GANG TACKLE, GANG TACKLE, GANG TACKLE. We can't just hit them and expect them to fall, we need to wrap up and drive them back and have 11 black hats to that ball before they know what hits them.

    I see a lot of similarties in this game and last years playoff game against Genoa. Oh we can run all over you blah blah blah. Yes clear fork has a great running game no doubt about that, but is it unstoppable.....I beg to differ. When our kids play with that edge and attitude (like the Genoa game) we are very hard to beat.

    As much as the colts say they are focused on Orrville, they are still ecstatic that they beat Ashland and they should be, that was impressive. But they have yet to beat Orrville, and that is in the back of their minds all week, until they do we have the edge at home. Some of those kids will have the hangover effect, it happens all the time in high school.

    Only the Riders cashed in on the Trifecta this weekend, but we will use the adversity faced by all 3 teams to put up one heck of a game this coming Friday night! Pretty much everybody outside our "BAH" group is not only saying that we will lose, but that we will get smeared. We shall see about that. Go Riders!
  • OQB
    BAH would be a good screenname for me huh BRF lol since I'm in over my head on every thread and tick people off.
  • OQB
    I want to send a shoutout to RedRider1, that break down of how the computer points are figured was well done!

    Notice I left off the point of you getting blasted with a porno remark! ;-). As your mentor, I think that "BAH" would be awesome! Ha Ha! For the folks that don't know, BRF actually stands for Boring Rider Fan! BAH! Hahahahaha!

    I've always wondered what it meant! Lol nice shall I make the change.........hmmm

    Thanks...it's been on my plate for a few weeks...finally got time to polish it up today. It's something that most of us know....but there's plenty of fans who have no idea how it works. Tough to put something so mathematical into words.

    He's talking about a blog post in case it's not clear. Here's the link. http://bit.ly/bQMCuM

    Also posted a couple more videos from Ohio Northern featuring Kyle Simmons. http://bit.ly/aYKavj His game versus BW is on STO at 5am Monday if you're up or want to record it. I guess he played pretty well in that game.
