Dak didn't look all that good yesterday. Good defenses will do that to a QB sometimes.kizer permanente;1872230 wrote:You just don't understand, Crimson. You're either good or bad. It's simple. It doesn't matter what weapons you have. Dak would be 2-0 and looking great on this Browns team b/c he's good. Kizer would be 0-2 and throwing 4 int's on the cowboys b/c he sucks. Can't believe you don't understand that.
For me, the bigger barometer on Kizer is going to be the next three games against shitty teams (Colts, Bengals & Jets). If he doesn't show progress in those games, probably an issue.
Kizer looked like crap yesterday but Hue Jackson and his receivers are doing him no favors. Hue seems to have given up on the run and put Kizer into "video game" passing situations yesterday where he was slinging it all over the field, taking chances/trying to make big plays happen.
Granted, the Browns were behind but I found it kind of interesting that the Rats were managing Flacco like he was the rookie, having him dink & dunk, taking what the defense would give him to his TE's underneath. Kizer's slinging the ball all over the field to WR's (see Britt & Coates) who seemed like they were disinterested and would rather be anywhere else. In fact, I'd flat out release Britt and eat the $10M they owe him this morning. Screw that clown. -

Back to the people living in a real, nuanced world... it absolutely matters when you have an all world line, rb, receivers, and System in place.

and fwiw, I like Kizer...a lot...I hope to God they don't waste yet another top draft pick on a QB -

I'm sure you know it, but my post was chalked full of sarcasm b/c S&L.BR1986FB;1872234 wrote:Dak didn't look all that good yesterday. Good defenses will do that to a QB sometimes.

But you're right. Hue isn't doing him any favors. There's a reason good teams are good... they know what they have and they don't ask players to do what they know they cant do. Kizer is in no position to run the offense Hue wants him to. And it's not saying he's incapable of it, but we don't have receivers to run this offense. When you continually ask receivers to run routes where you know they arent and cant get open on, and you expect a QB to get the ball to them anyways.. that makes me lose confidence in Hue. we should be running, running, PA pass. most of Kizers passes need to be off PA. Get him out of the gun. We're in no position to be throwing it 100 times a game. We don't have the personnel. -
BR1986FB
That's textbook "Rookie QB Management 101." Pittsburgh did it with TheRapist, as a rookie....Baltimore did it with Flacco and Dallas did it with Prescott. Run, run, run to set up the pass and let the rookie manage the game, not put the world on his shoulders and make him try to win it.kizer permanente;1872237 wrote:we should be running, running, PA pass. most of Kizers passes need to be off PA. I know this O-Line is mostly new to each other but I don't see it taking THAT long for an O-Line to gel. I keep harping back to that trying to run from the shotgun and I'll continue to do it as long as they have a shitty rushing attack. Hue's sealing his own fate by not making Kizer adapt (under center). -
kizer permanenteWell we heard all preseason "we want to run the ball" . We haven't even tried to make it an issue.

I guess I didn't see what you saw yesterday. They bit on every play action, they had piss poor tackling, and they gave up 136 rushing yards. The worst part of their defensive performance was the fact the Ravens didn't even do anything complicated. They beat the browns with the run and dink/dump passes all day. Their TE (the almighty Watson) and their RBs took up 60% of their receptions and most of them were not long pass attempts. Perhaps Greg Williams should have made an adjustment from being overly aggressive, because the Ravens took complete advantage of it.BR1986FB;1872197 wrote:Granted, they still have no pass rush but I thought they did pretty well shutting down the run until garbage time. The offense is doing them no favors turning the ball over and giving the opposition a short field. That 37 yard/broken play run was a back breaker though.
I will admit they made Ben Watson look like he was in his prime today, which should never happen.
This team has improved it's talent but they still function like the Bad News Bears. Just when you think they might string together something positive they pull out some ridiculous bone head play.
Also, back to the running the ball/kizer discussion. I think Kizer has the physical tools, and I am not trying to make excuses for him, because he has plenty to work on. He needs a better mental clock/get rid of the ball quicker, he needs to work on accuracy, needs to play under center, etc. Let's not forget this is a 21 year old's second NFL game against a pretty damn tough defense on their home field. He is going to look like a rookie. Not everyone has the best line in football, and amazing RB, and a all-pro bowl WR to start their career (Dak) and look amazing. With that being said, WTF is Hue doing not running the ball? I am not a huge Crow fan and I think a lot of Browns fans several overate him, but you have a fucking 21 year old QB and you are having him throw every play? Hue did the same shit last year with the trash group of QBs we had. I don't get it. I could have sworn during Andy Dalton's best season Hue committed to running the ball, which made a very average Dalton look great for most of the season. -
SportsAndLadyMy sober thoughts on the game:
Not our best game. For as decent as we looked against Pittsburgh in week 1, we looked that much worse in week 2. My biggest "tell" in a coach is can he get his players to come out every week and look prepared and play good football. Not win every game, but at least come out and look good and if the other team is better that day and beats us, so be it. Hue can't get his team to look like a competent football team all 16 games, and that's an issue.
Kizer was bad. Yes Baltimore's defense is really good. But that isn't an excuse to be that bad. Maybe it was the migraine (a fucking migraine? Only the Browns) or whatever. But you can't play like that even against the good defenses. And I'm so sick and tired of browns fans making excuses for our shitty qb play. Not just this week but in general. Hopefully kizer can bounce back in the next few games against shitty defenses. Again, i don't think I'm asking for much to get AVERAGE qb play.
I like Ndoku. I think he's going to be really good.
Baltimore is going to win the AFC north, imo. I think there will be two AFC north participants in the playoffs, but I think baltimores defense is good enough to win the division.
I started taking shots as soon as Hogsn threw that interception that could have been picked by 3 Baltimore players lol and blacked out after that. Going to go through and read my posts. I see that I rustled Kizer perm/SQ's jimmies though. That's always fun. -

Yeah, COA is definitely losing his bet with bigdaddy lol. Ravens defense is good enough to make them competitive in the AFCN. Losing their all pro tackle (or was it a guard) is going to hur them though.SportsAndLady;1872248 wrote:My sober thoughts on the game:

BR1986FBSorry gang but Kizer didn't have a migraine. He may have had a nasty headache but you don't bounce back from a migraine in an hour. I'm far from a medical doc but a migraine usually causes one to go "dark" (can't see/pitch black) and often makes you puke your guts out. Interesting to see if we hear anymore about this going forward but I can almost guarantee it wasn't a migraine.

Think it was something they said so it wouldn't be "kizer benched" and hurt his psyche?BR1986FB;1872251 wrote:Sorry gang but Kizer didn't have a migraine. Anything's possible but I've never met someone who had a true migraine that bounced back from it in an hour. You're usually down for the count for a significant time.SportsAndLady;1872253 wrote:Think it was something they said so it wouldn't be "kizer benched" and hurt his psyche?
The thing that sucks is that Hogan looked pretty decent and they might have had a better chance of winning with him, but I think they're pretty set on giving Kizer a full season evaluation and, if he can play, he plays. -
SportsAndLady
I could def see them doing that. You don't want to bench your 21 year old rookie QB and damage his psyche.BR1986FB;1872256 wrote:Anything's possible but I've never met someone who had a true migraine that bounced back from it in an hour. You're usually down for the count for a significant time.

kizer permanenteThey already said they were checking him for a concussion. That's why he was pulled and taken to the lockeroom and brought back after he was cleared.

The same Hogan who gave up an INT right before the half, which led to the Ravens adding another 7 pts? Yeah, he is garbage. Two long passes (one was a great catch), doesn't justify keeping Hogan in. Btw, another knock on the defense is allowing those 7 pts right before the half.BR1986FB;1872256 wrote:Anything's possible but I've never met someone who had a true migraine that bounced back from it in an hour. vball10setHogan is not the answer. Period.

kizer permanente
Definitely not. We might be able to get away with some passing against shitty defenses, but not against the Ravens. Overall we need to do a hell of a lot better of running plays we're going to have some success in. I'm not sure Britt got open once yesterday, and only time Coleman did was when he pushed off. They were all over us. Yet we sat back and still tried to pick um apart. I don't get the value in that. It's not showing us anything in Kizer, and it's making it impossible to move the ball.vball10set;1872261 wrote:Hogan is not the answer. Period. -

Didn't say Hogan was the answer (think I cover that with the "but I think they're pretty set on giving Kizer a full season evaluation" comment) but he probably gives them a better chance to put points on the board in that game.like_that;1872260 wrote:The same Hogan who gave up an INT right before the half, which led to the Ravens adding another 7 pts? I agree with your comment about the defense before the half, which goes back to my earlier comment about the offense doing the defense no favors on a short field. Defense still should've held them to a FG attempt. -

Britt is Dwayne Bowe Part 2. He doesn't want to be here and is just collecting a check. He's more concerned with fighting with fans on social media than he is catching footballs.kizer permanente;1872262 wrote:I'm not sure Britt got open once yesterday, -
