The more I think about the peppers pick the more I don't mind it. He will basically play the mark Barron role in Greg Williams defense which will be a perfect fit for peppers. If he utilizes him correctly it could be an excellent pick

This may be true, but I'm still not sold. Like I said, hopefully I'm wrong, but I think Peppers is overrated.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't hate the peppers pick at 25.

I hated it at first but the more o think about it, the more I'm ok with it. He will fit well with Greg Williams

I'm neutral on it but would probably have preferred Njoku in that spot and then hold tight at 33 for a DB instead of having to trade up

    Love the other 2 though.

I don't hate it, but Im not an OSU fan, so... lol

EDIT: I don't know what position he plays, but I do know he played a lot of them at an AA level in college.

That's the thing. I don't think he played any one position at an AA level. He played a lot of positions, so everyone loved his versatility, but I don't think he's really a successful NFL player at any position other than maybe a return man. I really hope he turns into a good player, but I just don't see it.

After Garrett, I hate the whole damn thing. So Mangini-esque. Worse, I have serious reservations about Peppers' character. For God's sake, he wasn't a man enough to play for his team/teammates in MU's bowl game and he has drug suspicions.
So much for improving the "culture" on this team

I kinda thought the same thing with the drug suspicions. I don't wanna see another Josh Gordon situation.

Yeah it seems like the hate comes from mostly OSU fans. I think the Browns already have him penciled in as safety.

Start Peppers out as a Nickle back and on Special teams. He is that NFL "athlete" that teams go ape sh*t over. I do not hate the pick....he could develop into a nice safety in time. He would be great in defending tight ends, which we are notorious into giving yards up to.

    Big, if true.
SportsAndLady;1850479 wrote:I mean he looks solid. Just not so sure we needed a TE before about 7 other positions. We'll see how he turns out tho.
I agree, but I also like that we stole the guy the squeelers like. With both TEs on our roster (DeValve and Big Play Gar) having injury concerns I like it.

    This.

What is a Greg Williams defense? Don't you need good players first? I've heard the "Mark Barron" role thrown around. How many games they win? Where did they rank in Def with him? 2000 Ravens they aint.

Again, how will he fit over another better player like Budda Baker or King?

I'm on the "I don't like the pick train" here. Peppers played a ton, got a lot of hype, not a big producer. His best position is a KR and his instincts on defense are poor. HE wasn't a great SPARQ athlete, no ball skills. No thanks.

Back to the draft. I love that we stole a squeeler pick and got a stud TE and the best player in the draft. Hate the peppers pick, guy was a 3rd rounder based on potential. His tape is meh IMO.

What I don't like, we don't have a QB and IMO a stud QB was there. Mahomes was known to be Hue's favorite, he checks all the boxes the FO looks for, and we had the most ammo to go up and get him if needed. Instead we allow the Chiefs to get in front of us to take him which is inexcusable IMO. Another example of the FO playing Penis Flickers (That's for you S&L) when Chiefs are playing chess. If you feel good about a guy (it's known they wanted him), you don't let another team steal your fucking franchise QB. [/Entering Hottaeks Zone]

Looked it up 23rd in points in the vaunted Greg Williams Mark Barron led defense.

This isn't to say Barron or Greg Williams sucks, just that the "Mark Barron" role isn't the end all be all, and makes very little sense. Comes down to do you think PEppers was the best player on the board? Probably not. Best Safety? Not even close. This pick reeks of the Haslem effect to me.

Boo hoo we didn't get a complete project at qb in the first round. Mahomes has terrible foot work, came from a air raid offense and has major accuracy issues. But he can throw a football 80 yards smh. Also peppers was 6th among safety's in SPARQ, so he was pretty decent there. He's a very good in the box player and has decent coverage skills. His instincts are poor? Really?

Lol no shit it's not the end be all, it's one position on the field. But it fills a role that's hard to find in the NFL. I highly doubt haslam had anything to do with that pick. It looks like more of a sashi/Williams pick

The only position that I could see having the "Haslam effect" would be QB. I frankly don't think he knows shit about any of the other positions on the field, especially a safety/return specialist.

Being unbiased with schools in opinions, I stated Charlton will be a better pro than Peppers.
Just not first round impressed with him.

I'm ok with the picks but wasn't high fiving myself over Peppers. Hopefully they'll be able to put him into the best position to be a contributor.

Still no QB. If this regime thinks that trading back to accumulate enough ammo for a QB in 2018 is a smart plan, they may not survive to see it out. I'm still hoping they did this to go after Garoppolo, since it seems like Cousins isn't happening. I'm just skeptical that New England's gonna bite.

If they go into this season with Kessler, Osweiler and (maybe) a rookie, they are going to be unwatchable again.

Which is pretty asinine considering the Browns have drafted some pretty good players from Michigan. I can't remember a really solid player they've drafted from OSU since Paul Warfield.
  • Con_Alma
The Browns played poker and wanted Mahomes at 12. They never wanted Trubisky or Watson.

Agreed. They put their eggs in the Mahomes basket and, when they got outmaneuvered, reverted back to their old pick stockpiling ways.

He's been an entitled douchenozzle since high school. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll lay some $ that he's out of the league within 3 years.
