Think about guys like McRae/Felder/Liggins or as I dubbed them "The D-league contingent"; there's a reason they were happily cut from the team for old vets and that's because they have no value. Putting a bunch of youth out there to get clowned on is far worse than putting people who understand their role and can execute a defensive plan in LIMITED minutes.
Which is, again, why I said a balance of the two. I said it in the post you quoted. I don't want to liquidate the veterans. But veterans of the age these guys are just don't look like they can handle the sorts of minutes that are required for the first guys off the bench.

The only reason Tavares was signed is because he was the best Center in the D-league and the Cavs needed to have a big on the roster. I don't really expect him to play any meaningful minutes on the Cavs ever and will likely only play sparingly if we need a big body out on the court.
He's actually not in the D-league, though if he was in the NBA already, it wouldn't be a hot take, would it? He plays overseas, but when he with the Knicks organization, he did see at least a couple games at the NBA level. I actually remember reading an article about him being a guy who fit in between the D-league and the NBA. They had a name for it, but I don't remember what it was. Essentially, he was somehow good enough to play above the D-league, but he didn't seem quite good enough at the NBA level.

To be fair, he was playing on the Knicks. Doesn't strike me as the sort of place where careers flourish right now.

In any case, I can't see him doing much worse than DWill, and you might be able to pay him about the same. Factor in the fact that he's younger and seeing legitimate minute currently (so, probably in better game shape). I think there's more upside to him.

I don't know how much more clear I can make this for you. There isn't some pool of unproven youth that can make an impact for the Cavaliers; if they are unproven with upside, they will be on a team somewhere. Even if they are on a team somewhere, they won't see significant minutes for a contender. The veterans on the Cavs don't play much minutes and they don't NEED to.

Frye was too slow to handle the speed of GSW
When Korver wasn't hitting I don't see how he could've been worse.

I think he got hurt 59 seconds into his Cavalier career.

Agree with Korver. He was 5/16 for threes in the finals and that's about the only thing he does offensively. Completely worthless.

Korver didn't play well. Love didn't play well either.

    Not sure your point here.

Love averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 block in the finals. Just about right on his regular season #'s. Cavs lost because of lapses in defensive intensity, some coaching blunders, and maybe a couple guys under-performing (but I don't think Love was one of them, overall).

The biggest move the Cavs will make in the off-season will be the head coach
