2016 Browns Season Thread

Now when you have an immature young quarterback who can't stay out of trouble, you get neither the mentorship or the role as a backup. I'm fine with a 2-4 game start from he veteran QB if the younger apprentice is not ready to grasp the speed and complexity of the NFL, but the rookie better be working his way into the starting lineup in the first third of the year.
I don't have any reason to believe differently (like they might release him), but I hope they keep McCown on the roster. He seems to be very unselfish and willing to help/mentor an understudy, unlike Brian Hoyer. -
like_thatI am ok with McCown mentoring him, but I rather Goff play every game. Let him take his bumps and bruises and build on it the following year. At the very least this will send a message to the players on the team that the Browns are building toward a future. You don't get that sense at all by wasting snaps on McCown.

I don't necessarily want McCown to play but I want him on this roster to teach the young QB. If Johnny Buttf#ck hadn't had his head up his ass, McCown could've taught him how to be a pro's pro.like_that;1777529 wrote:I am ok with McCown mentoring him, but I rather Goff play every game. Yeah, I agree with you there. Just dont want him starting. I think McCown knows his time is coming up, so he probably will embrace the role of backup mentor so prolong his career and collect more paychecks. Kinda like a poor man's version of Mark Brunell. He is delusional if he thinks he should be a starting QB in this league at this point in his career.BR1986FB;1777542 wrote:I don't necessarily want McCown to play but I want him on this roster to teach the young QB. I think he was willing & ready to accept that role last year, almost expecting it. What I think he didn't expect was that Manziel was going to be such a screw up and he could've had the job the whole year. What a damn waste (Manziel).like_that;1777545 wrote:Yeah, I agree with you there. Just dont want him starting. And then they went and kept Mularkey...doesn't really make sense to me. I figured they'd want to go after a Gase type who will maximize Mariota's value. Even McDaniels would be better than Mularkey.SportsAndLady;1777474 wrote:.
Tennessee had the worst record in the league this season, but they're pumped they know Mariotta will be a stud. Now they can build around that. That's what I want. -

Exactly. Sure, Carr looked rough his first year but he looked fantastic this year for a 2nd year QB.like_that;1777479 wrote:Agreed. As long as they invest in the future (like the raiders and Carr). -

Yeah but it feels like he's perfectly content to get paid handsomely to mentor someone who isn't a complete fuckup like JFF. -

Why even read let alone post this garbage? It's an eagles blog just full of a pile of shit speculation, because he wants bradford to leave. -
Crimson streakI've watched some videos on goff and the more I watch him, the more he is growing on me. Definitely has some very good arm talent. Actually reminds me a lot like Carr. What I found interesting was his completion percentage went up every single year as well as his td's. The only concerning thing about him was the amount of int's he threw this year but I also think it had a lot to do with trying to make plays/ carry his team bc if he didn't make the plays his team loses. I would definitely be on board with taking him number 2. I also want nothing to do with lynch. He blows

I would be concerned about taking snaps under center.Crimson streak;1777581 wrote:I've watched some videos on goff and the more I watch him, the more he is growing on me. That's 90%+ of EVERY college QB. Has been a concern transitioning to the NFL since the mid 90s. Gotta get over it.Sonofanump;1777590 wrote:I would be concerned about taking snaps under center. -

Specifically, not generally. Not saying Goff won't, because some can, just would like to see how the under center workouts go, because some can't transition. You've probably seen him more that most being in the TV area. -

Saw him play a few times in person as well, one being against the Bucks. I'm a fan. A big fan.Sonofanump;1777669 wrote:Specifically, not generally. MontyBrunswickI won't apologize for being optimistic about this team.

Completely absurd. They have already hired some DC assistants too, so they must just want a "Yes" man. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel.shook_17;1778088 wrote:Jim O'Neil is the leader to get the 49ers DC gig lulz -

Does this surprise you with Chip Kelly in charge? The man hired Pat Shurmur as his OC.iclfan2;1778106 wrote:Completely absurd. They have already hired some DC assistants too, so they must just want a "Yes" man. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel. -

Can you imagine the ineptitude of the 9ers with Chip at GM, Derpmur at OC and O'Neil as DC?BR1986FB;1778179 wrote:Does this surprise you with Chip Kelly in charge? The man hired Pat Shurmur as his OC.
