    It's all about the O.
How do you get your def off the field? Set up by stopping the run to put def in 3rd and long situations. Again, not saying spend a 1st on a dlineman ( I want a QB). Stopping the run is about scheme, and commitment to stopping the run. Something we have never seen in Cleveland. To be a good defense, you have to take something away.

Too bad this hire didn't happen yesterday because he could've brought Vance Joseph along with him to be his DC. Would've double dipped from Cincy and hired what was considered one of the up & comers in the league.

You also keep your offense on the field to keep the defense off the field

For god's sake S&L, I could just as easily say you gotta have a good defense to get your offense on the field. You wanna keep spinning or just admit that stopping the run is a part of winning football?

You need to score more points than the other team.

I think the last few years have proven defense and stopping the run is winning football. So far we have about 2 teams left that are carried by their offense. Odds are in favor of another defensive team winning the SB this year.

It's just funny I say you gotta have a good offense to keep your defense relatively rested in order to have a good defense.
And you immediately chime in with your stop the run shit.

I don't disagree with stopping the run makes your defense good. You just don't have to pound it down our throats every chance you get.

looks like management finally knows what it's doing
I don't care if they drafted all starters and they all turned out awesome. Playoffs aren't happening next year. The schedule is brutal and they'll win 5 or 6 MAX.

Also, I probably fell for a troll. I can't keep who's a troll and who isn't straight anymore.

If the Browns get 5 wins next year I'll be stoked.

Actually I don't care if the Browns go 0-16 next year as long as JFF is not on the team I'm happy.

I bring it up bc last off season a bunch of posters (you/sleeper included) said it wasn't important. Which was fucking idiotic then, and just as dumb now. Nice fail dipshit.

If Jackson's press conference is any indication of how successful he'll be as a coach, I think we're in for some good times in the coming years. Wow, impressive!

(Before some smartass chimes in....I know speaking in front of the media doesn't equate success, etc, etc)

    No.

We just don't have a hard-on like you do.

A good QB/offense is more important.
  • BR1986FB
Good lord, it's six of one, half dozen of the other. You can win with either. A good QB/offense is just as important as a good defense. Teams have won titles with shitty offenses & shutdown defenses and vice versa.

A legit quarterback is a must, but it seems like some are delusional that getting one makes any team a contender. Going from this shitfest to being a decent team is a multi-year project. If whoever ends up making the personnel decisions thinks one of this years QBs is going to be someone you can win with for a decade, grab him. If not, there are too many other needs to take a flyer.

    Bingo!

Just grabbing a QB at #2 isn't going to cure the issues with this team. I'd tell Browns fans to buckle up because it's probably going to be a bumpier ride until things get better. They may ditch the veterans and go all young like an expansion team. That's likely not going to equate to many wins, early on, but it should give fans hope which I didn't have going into last season.

That's why I said they need to give this new regime at least 3 years. Now if Jackson takes them to 5-11 this year and they regress to 2-14 his second year, I'd say it's likely he's not the guy for the job but I doubt that happens.

As an FYI, for those in the Cleveland area....Hue Jackson will be on 92.3 in the 9am hour.

Potential interest among the 32 teams in Manziel (hint...there's almost none, except for one team and it's not the Cowboys)

For fucks sake, no one is saying a QB at 2 is going to fix the fucking team.

But it's the main piece to get going in the right direction.

I agree they need to get the right QB but saying offense is more important than defense is stupid. You can win either way.

One thing I liked about Jackson's presser is that I don't think he's going to have too much difficulty fielding a more than competent coaching staff. "142 texts...." LOL

Didn't watch. What is the quote in reference to?
