Or Bridgewater, who the consulting group said to draft.BR1986FB;1773089 wrote:I know, "hindsight" but Derek Carr would've looked a helluva lot better than Manziel -

I still think the average lay fan, who watches college football regularly, could hit on 1st through 3rd rounder's better than a lot of the Browns recent GM's. Seems like guys like Farmer & Savage, etc would always want to select that "outside the box" player to show they were smarter than everyone else. Even Mangini with that frigging Veikune pick...smdh, f#cking imbeciles.like_that;1773091 wrote:Or Bridgewater, who the consulting group said to draft. -

I would've been cool with Eliot Wolf in the fact that if he got in a jam, he could consult with his dad. It would almost be like getting Ron Wolf for free.like_that;1773086 wrote:I would have been ok with just hiring personnel from any FO in the AFC North. These teams obviously know what the fuck they are doing. Even if they have a down year, you know they will be back the following season. At the very least hiring their staff would make them a little weaker. -
BR1986FBThree interviews lined up, so far. None of these names thrills me...

I could live with Marrone because at least he has done the job and won more games than he lost in a season.BR1986FB;1773096 wrote:Three interviews lined up, so far. None of these names thrills me...

I abhor the thought of more first timers, as the Cleveland job is promising to be chaotic and it just seems like too much for a first timer to overcome.
Hue was my guy because of that reason. Having won 8 games with the crypt keeper still alive that year tells me he can deal with the chaos and still put a decent product out on the field. -
SportsAndLadyThe Jaguars offensive line coach is such a Browns HC hire.

I wasnt a fan of marrone nor gase when they were on the list a few years ago, and I'm still not. Both are overrated, especially Gase, who happened to look good because of Manning's MVP season.BR1986FB;1773096 wrote:Three interviews lined up, so far. None of these names thrills me...

Gase did wonders for cutler though. A lot of people here in Chicago give him a lot of the credit for Cutler's bounce back season.like_that;1773108 wrote:I wasnt a fan of marrone nor gase when they were on the list a few years ago, and I'm still not. Gase isnt my first pick but he could at least help groom our hopefully #2 pick QB. -

He just reeks of a typical Browns hire. A young coordinator getting a trial run at his first HC gig (shurmur, chudzinski, pettine). If it doesn't work out he can go back to being a coordinator and learn more before becoming a HC again a few years later.SportsAndLady;1773109 wrote:Gase did wonders for cutler though. Edit: As we have learned from our previous 3 first time HCs, they are normally in over their heads. Especially with the TMZ style of journalism in Cleveland. -
like_thatSpeaking of the Cleveland media, is there a way we could just blow that up too and start from scratch? They literally do NOTHING to help any franchise in Cleveland. For such a small market, they are an all time worst.

Midstate01Mary Kay is by far the worst. Never writes her own material. She waits for national media to report things from her own city, then writes something citing "sources". She also sees something retweeted and runs with it as factual. It's really incredible. I feel like twitter was made and she creamed herself knowing she could now see everyone's else's work so fast and could use it for her own.

Worst part was the philosophy not to take a top end WR, which has bit them big time with those WR classes.like_that;1773074 wrote:It's just embarrassing how you can whiff that badly with 2 first round picks in two loaded draft classes. -

Why do I get this impression that it will be Gase, who has ties to Manning, who I get the impression that Hallam wants in his front office when he retires?BR1986FB;1773096 wrote:Three interviews lined up, so far. None of these names thrills me...

IggyPride00If they draft a QB at 2, it is imperative that they get him weapons or he is going to fail.
Is Derek Carr anywhere near as far along as he is now without Crabtree and Cooper this season? Is Bridgewater leading the Vikings to the playoffs without having Adrian Peterson in the backfield?
Whoever is making personnel decisions next has to go out of their way to surround the next franchise QB with viable NFL weapons who can make an impact on a game.
Otherwise whoever they draft is going to suffer the same fate as every other QB that has come through here.
This team also needs a legit running back. I am done with the crow, and Duke is nothing but a scat back out of the back field to catch passes. Go find a real RB. -

The thing that's funny about them is that they will rip the organization & start stuff, in print (ala TMZ), but when they get in press conferences with guys like Pettine & Haslam, their sacks shrivel up and they are a bunch of "yes" men/women. They won't ask the tough questions. The only one who will ask a tough question is Grossi and that's only because he's a spurned, bitter bitch, imo.like_that;1773111 wrote:Speaking of the Cleveland media, is there a way we could just blow that up too and start from scratch? Crowell was actually solid in the last 3-4 games. I think a bit of that had to do with Manziel being a threat to run though.IggyPride00;1773119 wrote:If they draft a QB at 2, it is imperative that they get him weapons or he is going to fail.

I mentioned this a while ago....one of her son's friends posted some rumor on Twitter and she ran with it as a story. They will periodically have her on 92.3 and I'll just turn it off or change the station. She is the worst.Midstate01;1773113 wrote:Mary Kay is by far the worst. Never writes her own material. Wasn't Cutler a Pro Bowler before Gase?SportsAndLady;1773109 wrote:Gase did wonders for cutler though. A lot of people here in Chicago give him a lot of the credit for Cutler's bounce back season.

Midstate01After seeing next year's schedule, I'm even more into the no qb at 2. That schedule is BRUTAL!! Build your team with weapons for a qb, and draft one the next year, or trade for one.

He made the pro bowl once in 2008.Commander of Awesome;1773126 wrote:Wasn't Cutler a Pro Bowler before Gase?
He signed that huge contract a few years ago, if not for that he would have been ran out of town. -
like_thatI am sure he would not want to come here, but I would give Tom Coughlin a call.

Eh I'm going to wait and see before I anoint him qb whisperer based on 2 seasons, 1 with a HOF, and one with a pro bowl qb. I'm more impressed with the old Broncos hc that beat steelers with tebow. Not trying to say gase sucks, just that cutler having a non shitty year doesn't sell me alone.SportsAndLady;1773133 wrote:He made the pro bowl once in 2008.

He made the pro bowl 7 years ago man. He isn't a pro bowl QB. I'm not anointing him QB whisperer simply posting that since I live here in Chicago I hear a lot of Chicago sports talk, and a lot of fans and radio people have complimented Gase for what he's done with cutler, who was on his way out of town.Commander of Awesome;1773137 wrote:Eh I'm going to wait and see before I anoint him qb whisperer based on 2 seasons, 1 with a HOF, and one with a pro bowl qb. Just giving a little info on someone that was linked to the Browns. Not claiming he's a QB whisperer. -

I thought this year's schedule, on paper, was much more difficult than next years. They have the usual division foes, SD, TN and the AFC & NFC East. With that being said, I don't expect much.Midstate01;1773129 wrote:After seeing next year's schedule, I'm even more into the no qb at 2. That schedule is BRUTAL!!
