That is the exact logical conclusion to what BR said.SportsAndLady;1771155 wrote:I mean you're basically saying because the NFL came down on targeting and helmet to helmet hits and because we see less of that now, that the players are huge pansies now compared to the old days. It's just a dumb argument.
BR's entire post can be explained by the "toughness" being legislated out of the game, for various reasons. Since the same thing was done in the NFL, BR has to believe that today's NFL players are less tough than before. -
Commander of AwesomeHey BR, here's one big reality check that pretty much debunks your entire argument.

Doubt you'll read a single one though. Too butthurt to admit your fail. Seriously dude, STOP listening to cle radio and taking it as gospel. -
Midstate01Don't remember who said it, but someone said kyrie being back would be big for mozgov. Good call. He looks like the mozzy from last year.

You're right, I won't read it. Seriously? You want to give me shit about talk radio and then you post someone's opinion via a link? No difference. "Stop reading online links and taking it as gospel." And BTW, WTF does Cleveland radio have to do with MY personal opinion? The beauty of the situation is that what every one of you younger guys is saying is white noise.Commander of Awesome;1771160 wrote:Hey BR, here's one big reality check that pretty much debunks your entire argument.

I've watched over 4 decades of the NBA so I CAN have an opinion. While you were swimming around in your daddy's testicles, I was watching the Red Auerbach Celtics, the Miracle at Richfield, Rudy T getting his face crushed by Kermit Washington and Buffalo, when they actually had a team. So you really CAN'T have an opinion unless you've actually seen it to judge it.
I agree with S&L that yes, the rules HAVE changed but the players from yesteryear were tougher. You didn't see Larry Bird & Magic Johnson hanging out in South Beach in the offseason because they were "boys" from back in the day on some CYO team.
As I said, more athletic now? Definitely. Softer now? Most definitely. -
supermanGreat example of what i mean by soft just happened. Porzingas just ducked out of LeBron's way on the dunk. Chaos Oakley would made Jordan go to the free throw line for those points. Nothing dirty, just a hard foul.
I think there is a happy medium between the dirty play of the Detroit Bad Boy teams and the Charmin play that happens a lot today. -

No player in the NBA would have contested the shot bc a rookie didn't while losing on the road? lolksuperman;1771177 wrote:Great example of what i mean by soft just happened. Precisely my point. I'm not saying today's players need to murder someone on their way to the hoop but for godsakes, make them earn it.superman;1771177 wrote:Great example of what i mean by soft just happened. That's why I brought up Seth Curry. Dainty lil bitch should be planted on his ass every time he takes the ball to the hole to let him know that scoring route isn't available. Don't try to injure him, just let him know the lane is no longer an option. -

Uh....Oakley was 35 lbs more than Jordan and Lebron is 10-15 more than Porzingas....50 pound turnaround is pretty significant.superman;1771177 wrote:Great example of what i mean by soft just happened. Let's get something straight. I've problem watched and forgotten more sports than you have. I post a couple of times what the jocks said on local sports talk and suddenly I can't form my own opinion and am just regurgitating what they're saying? I don't think so.Commander of Awesome;1771183 wrote:You dumbshit, there's a difference between reading an opinion with data behind it and repeating what an alcoholic calls the really big show with a hot tip that bill cowher is shopping houses in strongsville.
There's only one Cleveland sports talk guy worth a shit and that's Ken Carman. I listen to the show to hear their national guests who might actually know a thing or two about sports. Unfortunately, listening to guys like Adam the Bull, Dustin Fox & Kevin Kiley is the collateral damage you have to deal with to get to the guests. Frankly, you or I could probably do a better job at sports talk than Dustin Fox. The callers are mostly morons. Let FW believe what they are saying is gospel.
Sports talk, for the most part, sucks but 92.3 is the lesser of two evils if your only other choice (locally) is WKNR.
I have my OWN opinions and try to express them regularly. None of what I posted about the NBA being soft was any derivative from any sports talk show. This has been my opinion for a LONG time. I first started getting really pissed about it when I saw the soft Price-ear Cavs let #25 get his head taken off by Mahorn and not a single Cav tried to defend him. It's just gotten softer from there. -
BR1986FB
You're not the only one who's noticed this. He went off on sleeper earlier and he's had a hair up his ass about me for at least a few days.superman;1771185 wrote:Nope just one example. Why are you being such a bitch the last few days? -
Midstate01The Knicks best player was porzingis, but in the 4th quarter they thankfully forgot about him. No shots.

Ironman92Did fighting those dirty ass Pistons teams ever end well? D them up and not getting frustrated got the Bulls finally passed them....but MJ was decent, as he got stronger he was able to beat them. I think the Pistons increased his mental toughness and pushed him even more.
Mahorn and Rodman were dirty as shit and would go to any measure....Laimbeer at 6'10 270 wasn't much better. John Salley was a boney ass dirty player then too but not many wanted to mess with Rodman or Mahorn.....brought on some ugly fucking basketball years with the Knicks and Heat trying to beat the hell out of the Bulls.....from there basketball transitioned to basketball.
I don't think players are soft I think the vast majority are world class athletes that prefer to get up and down the court and believe the NBA as a whole prefers it for the purpose of the fans and not allow the play that leads to 81-76 games with Anthony Mason being great player -

And your right earlier about the weight difference. But that's part of the softness. -

GOONx19Come on guys, Seth Curry had 3 points and a rebound in 11 minutes on Monday against the Wizards. I agree he's soft. He needs to toughen up like his older brother.
