Lets hope he's not a corpse like the last former Mav we picked up.

    Yep, Shawn Marion 2.0
  • Lovejoy1984
His shooting alone should make him a better fit than Marion ever was. But you guys are right, not moving the needle much.

Someone to be on the floor the last few minutes went they're up by 20 on Detroit.

How much can the needle even move when we were 2 games away from winning a title without Love or Kyrie?

Rather that be a young guy with a hint of upside. He's a bum.

Except a young guy couldn't accept the veteran's minimum...

True. A young guy can accept less.

And probably 100x better than RJ, he's a washed bum and has been for several seasons. Even the spurs thought he was trash.

    Agreed. Washed up.

    1) A young guy CAN accept less, but wouldn't. Richard has already gotten paid. Now he just wants to win. Not saying I wouldn't RATHER have a young guy, I'm just saying it's a lot less likely because young guys just wanna get paid.
    2) Jefferson is a step up from Marion for the end of the bench.
    3) Who cares? These are not impact players. They're practice fillers and trash time minutes.

Every acquisition doesn't have to be sexy. I don't understand why you guys think they should be?

He's still shooting 43% from 3 point range so he's not total garbage. Would obviously like to see a younger guy but I'm starting to see that Cavs fans are getting spoiled/picky. Not much they can do with the limited financials they have.

Only so many roster spots in the NBA. Tons of talented players wasting away in europe while guys like RJ who should have retired 4 season continue to get paychecks for shit they did a decade ago. Cavs FO just being lazy. Sign a guy who doens't have a chance to be in the NBA otherwise than sign retread trash like RJ. Would you rather have Delly, or Stephon Marbury? Give me delly every time at this point in their careers.

Umm, we can actually do more/better with less in this situation.

We care because it was apparent last season that we don't really have a talented bench. Almost half our bench last year was basically fillers/practice trash(Haywood, Perkins, Marion, Miller) that couldn't even get on the court. Jefferson is close to being in the same category.

We lose 3 of those 4 this year and replaced them with Mo Williams, RJ, and maybe one of the draft picks. Overall, it's not terrible but we could do better I think.

I'm still hoping we find a decent SF to buy Lebron some minutes during the regular season.

    This.

Especially ones that would accept a minimum salary.

I'm not an NBA exec, nor do I follow Russian/Spanish/etc... leagues. My whole point was there are players there that can contribute more to the Cavs than RJ can. He's a locker room guy who hasn't been productive in the NBA for several seasons. Its up the front office to find these guys bring them, etc...What's RJ's ceiling? Marion/Miller? I'd rather have a guy that can come in and contribute consistently.

What don't you get about this? Min salary is better than no salary, or Dleague salary. DERP

There is someone in the dleague/Euro league that can contribute more than Jefferson can. NBA FO/Coaches JO to too many vets for no good reason. Same reason Perkins is still in the league.

And there's none in Europe, or else they'd have been brought over. There are talented players in Europe to be sure. But none that are "wasting away" waiting for the first available NBA opportunity.

You're allowed to bitch and moan about signing RJ, but you haven't provided any realistic alternatives so it's just a bunch of noise.
