Will Brady be punished?

They could make it, but it would be highly unlikely. They would have zero room for error in a division I expect to finally be more competitive. That's if they go 0-4. Bill is good enough to find a way to get 1-2 wins without Brady. He has a whole off season to prepare.Raw Dawgin' it;1728296 wrote:Patriots could start 0-4 and still make the playoffs. All that matters. My point is, the punishment doesn't fit the findings, especially compared to other incidents.
As for the punishment I see both sides. The patriots have a track record of showing no integrity and since they didn't learn their lesson the first time the NFL came down hard. On the other hand, how do they get this severe of a punishment, while the steelers get a wrist slap when Mike Tomlin blatantly tried to trip a player near the sideline? -

The NFL is so inconsistent with punishments. I'm not saying they don't deserve one for tampering, but holy shit, any one of those punishments they received should be enough, but all of them seems excessive.like_that;1728297 wrote:They could make it, but it would be highly unlikely. fish82It's always pretty funny when bad stuff happens to the Patriots.

Why? It's not like it makes them suck.fish82;1728300 wrote:It's always pretty funny when bad stuff happens to the Patriots. -

You're not going to get any sympathy from me. I root for a team that has a guy suspended 10 games for smoking weed, and now a whole year for taking a sip of alcohol.Raw Dawgin' it;1728299 wrote:The NFL is so inconsistent with punishments. Pats fans are gonna get a harsh reality when Brady is gone if they are even around by then. They will need all the picks they can get.Raw Dawgin' it;1728301 wrote:Why? It's not like it makes them suck. -

Not so much. Had Brady been caught doing this and then committed the crime two more times ala Gordon, I'm sure he'd be sitting for a year. Gordon's first offense he got 2 games.like_that;1728306 wrote:You're not going to get any sympathy from me. I said before I hope Brady plays until he's 50, I'm not looking forward to the post Brady era.like_that;1728307 wrote:Pats fans are gonna get a harsh reality when Brady is gone if they are even around by then. They will need all the picks they can get. -

This is not a court of law. It's annoying how many people keep pointing to the legal system in America over this. It's irrelevant. The nfl set a precedent of not cooperating with Sean Payton. Had they been cooperative and told the truth right away, we probably hear about a loss of picks and a small fine (as it's not the first time they have been caught).Raw Dawgin' it;1728292 wrote:Why wasn't Gotskowski suspended for not giving up his phone and cooperating in the investigation? The NFL doesn't have subpoena power, he didn't have to give up his phone. -

The patriots had been caught before for cheating. Everyone on that team benefited, especially brady.BR1986FB;1728310 wrote:Not so much. Understood but Brady wasn't "technically" behind the cameras with Spygate so this would be his first offense. I get what you're saying as I think the Patriots cheat (they'd probably refer to it as "pushing the envelope") but this is Brady's first offense.like_that;1728319 wrote:The patriots had been caught before for cheating. The point was the NFL emphasizes punishment for petty actions (such as smoking weed, considering two teams play in states where it is legal, and a good percentage of players do it), and doesn't apply the same emphasis for cheating (see Tomlin).BR1986FB;1728321 wrote:Understood but Brady wasn't "technically" behind the cameras with Spygate so this would be his first offense. It wasn't about Josh Gordon being a dumbass. I could use several other players as an example. I know you don't like Gordon. -

Doesn't make what the NFL does right, just because they can.Laley23;1728318 wrote:This is not a court of law. It's annoying how many people keep pointing to the legal system in America over this. TiernanWitch Hunt...lets suspend one of the best players in NFL history on "suspected evidence" - this is beyond ridiculous!
-
AutomatikI'm cool with it!
But it will be reduced to 2 games IMO. -

My point is the precedent has been set, so those saying it doesn't match up are wrong.WebFire;1728332 wrote:Doesn't make what the NFL does right, just because they can. -

I think the fine and the loss of draft picks are reasonable(although the 4th rounder is a little over the top, 1st would have been fine). However, don't think Brady deserved 4 games, maybe 1 max but probably zero unless they can prove he asked someone to break the rules.BR1986FB;1728374 wrote:Idiots.....

Azubuike24Brady not turning over the cell records could have less to do with deflate-gate and more to do about other stuff he might not want getting out to the public.

NFL shouldn't punish a player because he doesn't want to let him into his personal life. That's a terrible precedent to set.Azubuike24;1728379 wrote:Brady not turning over the cell records could have less to do with deflate-gate and more to do about other stuff he might not want getting out to the public.
