Will Brady be punished?

  • GoChiefs
    Lol. All season huh?
  • wildcats20
@AdamSchefter: Filed to ESPN: Tom Brady suspended four games, Pats lose 1st round pick in 2016 and a 4th in 2017, and team fined $1 million, per source:

Wow. If that's true, they brought the hammer.
  • Lovejoy1984
Fuck. Knew I should've taken his money.

    Interesting.

Still dont think it was that huge of a deal but they sure did, if true, throw the book at him. I was just hoping at least week 1 to be suspended....

Pats will find a way to be 2-2 or 3-1 and Brady will be able to finish the season a bit more fresh than normal...

I think their title runs are over though.

    So again.

There is no actual proof that Brady knew or did anything.

Aaron Rodgers has openly and publicly admitted to having his footballs overinflated. What will his suspension be?
  • sleeper
Kinda seem like too much, especially the 4 games suspension.
  • sleeper
I think Brady should appeal and get it reduced. Is there any actual proof he requested the balls be underinflated?

Think he would have to be caught to get suspended.

Why? The NFL based this on a report that they commissioned, that said probably.

Aaron Rodgers admitting to what he has done is more proof than they have in this case.

Look I hate the Patriots just as much as anyone else, but the NFL over stepped. Also, remember that Ray Rice only got 2 games for knocking his fiancé unconscious.

So people still think this penalty fits the "crime"?

No. It's too severe for a "probably". Honestly, I read the Wells report and found it to be rather terrible. It mostly read as the equipment managers bitching about their job and using Brady as the boss. And isn't the inflation a range? Maybe Brady bitched that the balls were inflated above what he normally likes and that doesn't mean he asked them to break the rules.

NFL is straight retarded on this one.

Its probably unwise to base the ray rice suspension to anything as they totally fucked that up and it has been rectified.

I think it is pretty obvious that he knew about it.

I believe a 2 game rip was probably the most fair. I also would not have been opposed to a 1 or no game really....as I am not totally convinced it was that huge of a deal. Against the rules? Yeah.

I think 4 is at the very highest end that I though he would get.

Back in high school we played in a golf tournament out in Huron in late September and it was pretty damn cold. Anyways this kid in my group went to get something out of his bag and hand warmers fell out of his ball pouch. Upon seeing that a kid in our group immediately got a coach and the kid was kicked out of the tournament as well as next two matches. Point is he actually played the game knowingly breaking the rules and you have to drop the hammer on that as nothing is more compromising

    Totally the same.

I agree with Wildcats. The language used was "more likely than not".....you serious Clark? If I'm Brady, I'd be fighting this big time. I'd just keep saying "show me proof I was the one who did something wrong."
Now, if they want to punish the team and fine/take away draft picks...go for it. But to pin this on him without any hard proof...get outta here.

Cold balls can really mess up your game.

Can we play a round of golf so we can bet that when I inevitably beat the piss out of you on the course, you will no longer bring up completely irrelevant high school golf experiences?

You do it without fail whenever there is an opportunity and I find it incredibly annoying

Do preseason games count? LoL...I wouldn't be surprised if it gets reduced to 2 games. NFL is partially responsible here...if integrity of the equipment is worthy of that big a fine/suspension/ draft picks, it certainly is within their power to keep control of the balls used. They 'be been letting this stuff slide apparently for a long time.

Not sure if you are joking..but Preseason doesnt count.

It wasnt until fairlly recently...10 years maybe, that teams got to supply their own footballs. Think Manning had something to do with that push. Years ago QBs would complain about the game balls being very slippery because they were brand new. I even started a thread on the puddle, that got banned because I titled it "Slippery Balls" when some QBs complained about the super bowl balls.

They apparently do keep a pretty decent tab on the footballs with doing the pressure and such right before the game and the balls are to go right to the field. I can see them now having an independent league guy, an official, taking the footballs to the field.

Star quarterback gets 4 games. A Bryan Hoyer would be banned for life. That's the way it works in the NFL.
