    Lol sure if you base it off those numbers it looks terrible. Is it a little much for the Dolphins right now, sure? They're banking that what he did last year will continue/he will improve off those numbers. I think it will and I'm sure the Dolphins do too. If Tannehill has another great year or 2 (he was under contract through 2016) he probably cost himself a little bit of money but can't blame him for taking the guaranteed money now.

    Oh hell no. Cannot blame him for taking that. 45 mill guarenteed for a QB who really hasnt done anything yet...hell yeah you take it!

    Hell just give the Dolphins a WR like AJ Green and I'm sure the Dolphins would have been in and won a playoff game in the last 3 years. And that's not even counting that Cincy's Defense has been a lot better than the Dolphins.

    Dolphins should've waited a year to see if he takes the leap, or regresses to the mean. Last year was a a good year for him no doubt.

    Agreed to an extent. Dalton's deal isn't as bad as most people think. The way it's structured it's essentially a one year deal, after the first 2/3 years. And if Tannehill, is structured the same then it won't be that bad of a deal.

    You're right. Definitely do not blame Tannehill taking the money now.

    Maybe so but if he does continue to stay around the numbers he put up last season the Dolphins would easily have to pay him at least Dalton money. Better to lock him up now.

    Also I read a crazy stat... since he came into the league Tannehill has been sacked more times than any other QB. I knew his Oline wasn't good but I didn't know it was that bad.

    Only other option is doing what Flacco did and continue to ride out the deal and hope for a monster season, well post season, and make total bank but man, 45 million is tough to say no to.
    Now, if he becomes a legit star he shouldnt piss and moan about not getting paid like the top tier guys.

    Not sure what the advanced metrics say but I think this is a good deal for the Dolphins. You gotta pay for a good QB in the NFL and while I don't think Tannehill will be a top 5 QB he could be a top 10 QB over the next 5-8 years which would make it a good deal for the Dolphins.

    And hell yes Tannehill is better than Andy Dalton and it's not even close.

    Dalton's deal was just 17, well basically 21 million guarenteed.

    Either way I don't care, I'm happy to have him quarterback the team. He is the only viable QB we have had since Marino retired 16 years ago. Sacked more than anyone in the league the last three years and still put up great numbers last season with an injury hit line.

    Maybe this past season is who he really is......or maybe not. If it was my team, I'd prefer them to wait a year before spending that type of Money on a QB, who's essentially had one good season, but is still not shown he can be a winning QB in the NFL

    I seem to recall that before last season or so, someone (maybe lhslep?) posted something saying that according to some metric of some sort, he was ranked higher than most people would ever think. To the degree that we were reading that ranking and being like "cool, cool, wait...what the fuck is he doing here!?!?"

    I get that you're happy he's your QB, hell I'd be happy to have him on the Browns, but not for that contract. Until he proves he can be more consistent.

    If he can make in to the Top 10, you might be right. I'm just not sold yet. Need to see a little more.

    But like I said, earlier if they structured it similar to Dalton, where they can cut bait in a couple years without a huge hit, then it's a good deal.

    Top ten rated QB's last year were all 30 and older so this is def a veterans position.

    More I think of it..this signing isnt terrible. 45 million guarenteed is telling ya they are sticking with him.

    Just think about it. Before the rookie wage scale Sam Bradford as a rookie got more guarenteed money than this contract has.

    ESPNs qbr rating has luck at 11.

    The regular passing rating has Luck I think 7th of passers wtih 300 attempts or more
