2015 Browns Offseason Thread

Like Revis, Marshall has produced everywhere he has been. Would you say no to Aqib Talib if he wanted to come to Cleveland, only because he has already been on 3 teams in 7 years?like_that;1710334 wrote:I wasn't saying the Browns would go after foles, I am just saying If I were GM I would make an attempt for him, especially since the eagles seem to be doing whatever they can do to get Mariotta. Highly doubt Mccowns contract would be the one thing preventing the team from getting Foles.
If I didn't see who posted these type of posts, I could swear I am reading sleeper's posts.
As for Marshall, no thanks. The dude has been on 3 teams now going on 4. The only journey man that seems to work out in the NFL is Revis, and that is more because he is a mercenary trying to make the most money possible. -
SportsAndLadySee the retards over on Iggy's thread are begging farmer to spend money in the free agency market because, when we can handcuff the franchise into horrible long term contracts that will bring in an overrated player, you gotta do that over not signing that player and having a billionaire pay a relatively small fee to the league.
Cracks me up. -

Thanks for the update, was not planning on looking at that thread anyway.SportsAndLady;1710553 wrote:See the retards over on Iggy's thread are begging farmer to spend money in the free agency market because, when we can handcuff the franchise into horrible long term contracts that will bring in an overrated player, you gotta do that over not signing that player and having a billionaire pay a relatively small fee to the league.

If by "retard(s)" you mean Iggy, you're right because nobody else is saying "spend, spend, spend." He's the one getting all dramatic like a little school girl.SportsAndLady;1710553 wrote:See the retards over on Iggy's thread are begging farmer to spend money in the free agency market because, when we can handcuff the franchise into horrible long term contracts that will bring in an overrated player, you gotta do that over not signing that player and having a billionaire pay a relatively small fee to the league.

And I don't understand why you want to post on that thread. You mock iggy but yet there you are on his thread egging him on. -

Of course, I just responded to BR...thinking it was in this thread. Oh well, lol.
I hadnt been there in like 4 months, until you piqued my interest! -

Because I'll post on pretty much any thread. He doesn't bother me that much. He's so over the top it's either an act or he's one of the dumbest people on the planet (which I'm leaning strongly towards). Either way, it entertains me.SportsAndLady;1710569 wrote:Thavoice as well

Plus, you can pick & choose when to post while he can't spew his drivel over here. -

Nah. Just saying we have been hearing for a few seasons now on how much $$ they have to spend.SportsAndLady;1710569 wrote:Thavoice as well

This is at least the 3rd year in a row that they were in the top 5 of money left over to spend and havent made any splash signings. I am not saying spend money just to spend it or throw $$$ at guys that dont deserve it, but if I were a browns fan I would pretty pissed that they continually have stunk and dont attempt to bring in some FA's even with $$$ to blow. -

Which free agents over the last few years should they have gone after? And how do you know the players would even come to Cleveland?thavoice;1710575 wrote:Nah. Just saying we have been hearing for a few seasons now on how much $$ they have to spend.

You act like free agency is "easy"
There is a lot that goes into signing someone as a free agent. It's not just welp Cleveland can offer me the most so I'm going there. Those are the players that usually turn out to be FA busts. Any decent FA will want the money but they'll sacrifice some to be on a winning franchise and Cleveland isnt one of them. -

Not saying it was easy. Just saying if I were a browns fan I would be pissed with their lack of movement.
Similar stuff could have been said about green bay when Reggie White went there. In the 22 years prior to him going there they had a winning record only 4 times not including 1982 when the strike happened and they only played like 9 games.
I remember at the time he was the top of the league, signed a huge deal and people were like WTF. That helped shock the NFL that the packers were indeed for real. As you stated, how do we know that anyone would come there? $$$$, and the browns have it. Of course they would have to overpay, as most people do in free agency.
They havent been very active and yes, players would go there for the $$$.
Do you mean to tell me that in the last 4-5 years there were no free agents worth getting? Or acquiring someone in a trade that may have a hefty salary? It isnt like they are balls to the salary cap wall that they just couldnt justify it. They will need to overpay for someone...
The most recent CBA with the rookie cap doesnt handcuff teams like it used to and should mean more $$$ for the productive guys in the middle of their careers. Make a splash. Show the team, and other players around the league who may become potential FA's that they are serious about becoming a contender -

Not to mention the Browns have to either a) grossly overpay for a lot of them to come here or b) get used by the player to drive up his price for another team.SportsAndLady;1710584 wrote:Which free agents over the last few years should they have gone after? In some cases, "b" can be a better option than actually signing the guy.BR1986FB;1710589 wrote:Not to mention the Browns have to either a) grossly overpay for a lot of them to come here or b) get used by the player to drive up his price for another team. -
Commander of AwesomeSounds like Browns might try and sign Maclin.

I love Maclin though. He's legit. -
SportsAndLadyYes please on maclin
-
like_thatI agree on maclin, but we need a QB.
-
Lovejoy1984As long as we still draft a WR this year, I'm definitely ok with Maclin (depending on the number)
-
SportsAndLady
It'll be 11 mill a year or close, if they want him. That's what he was asking from Philly and they apparently only wanted to do 9, hence his looking around.HighRoller74;1711009 wrote:As long as we still draft a WR this year, I'm definitely ok with Maclin (depending on the number) -
Lovejoy1984That's not too bad IMO. Philly won't pay players because Kelly thinks its about his system.
Of course the only real thing that matters on the NFL contracts these days is the Length and Guarantee.
Assuming He gets Cobb money, 4/40, I"m definitely ok with that, as he's a low-end #1, high-end #2, and that's the going rate. Wouldn't want us to go over what Cobb was given. -
SportsAndLady
Agree with all that but I do think he is a true #1. Just needs to stay healthy which is what id be most worried about...I can see a headline now, just two weeks after Browns sign top FA WR, he tears an acl. Lovejoy1984With Sanchez back to Philly, I have to think Foles is available.
-
Pick6Maclin going to KC. Have to think that helps the Browns if they are targeting a WR at 19.
-
Lovejoy1984Its widely assumed KC will be cutting Dwayne Bowe. I'm curious to see his advanced numbers, but I'd like to kick the tires on him.
-
Pick6Dunno but he was very disappointing last season.
-
Lovejoy1984That's why I'm in interested in the PFF numbers.
A lot of that has to deal with Alex Smith or so one would imagine. Since they havent had a WR catch a TD since 2013.
