Yeah but does anyone really think we are winning the championship this year? Mozgov doesn't put us over the top.

Depends. We need to get another back up big. We don't do that, no chance.

In all honesty, it depends on LBJ. He's healthy going into the playoffs, and we have a big that is abysmal then we absolutely have a shot. He won a fucking ring with bums at the center spot in Failami, and worse talent around him. Can def be a CONTENDER with Mozgov. Without Mozgov though, we're bounced in the first round no doubt.

Bottom line: Cavs have no cap space, can't sign a FA this offseason. Memphis pick in all likelihood wont come to fruition this season and it was top and bottom protected, and Memphis will be a top team. Meaning we could head into the offseason getting bounced in the first round with the most talented Cavs team I have ever seen, and NOTHING to show for it. Not even cap space. LBJ could conceivably leave this offseason to join his penis rubbing buddy, Dwade and we can't retool with Memphis's pick because of the protection.

Yeah give me the slight possibility of competeing for a title, over a Memphis pick we all in likelyhood wont be using for 2 more seasons and getting embarrased in the 1st round. Effort of the court, is the main issue. That's on the coaches/players. GM is doing his job here. Steep price to pay for a big? Absolutely, but that's the going rate for bigs. This is what Crynasty didn't understand. Bigs are coveted. You want one, you have to pony up. Plain and simple. There wasn't a mythical big out there that's good, to be had without giving up 2 1st.

Now Griffin needs to get a backup big, bc Mozgov can't play 48 min. Why we went into this season relying on Andy is beyond me. Side note, you guys (me included) have been QQing for a big. Glad to finally one, wish we could have done this earlier, Andy might still be healthy (prob not).

Joe Lull ‏@LullOnSports 2m2 minutes ago In the offseason David Griffin talked about going from "asset collection mode" to "targeted acquisition mode." Philosophy in action this wk.

    ^ agree with that post.

Spend what you have to spend to win a championship now. I couldn't care less about two mid first round picks right now. We needed a center and we got one.

This is the most rational way to view what just transpired:

We traded Dion and the Memphis pick (for Jon Leuer!!), which we weren't going to see until the 2017 draft and a pick likely to be in the mid 20s unless Gasol leaves, for Shumpert, JR Smith, and Mozgov.

I'm OK with that being we needed to do that to even have a chance this year.

Our crucial FO mistake was extending Andy before he played a healthy season. Poor foresight.

Definitely. Smh at the FO for that. Shumpert > Dion already. Not a fan of dion and was hoping he'd be gone for a long time now. He legit suck and was getting worse.

Should also be noted, Cavs still possess Haywood who's contract will be a huge asset in June and July as Cavs add more pieces.

Mozgov/Shumbert should help mask Kyrie/Love def deficiencies. We got rid of a shitty player (Waiters) and added a legit big and a wing defender to play 3&D. Yeah we don't have potentially mid first round picks now but overall I give this a win for the Cavs.

Good post and LOL at the bolded part. Such a fucking idiot he was. Hey guise i play bball for ashland community college, but I am not smart. That's why i settled for a real estate job (that requires no degree) out of college and can not understand the business side of the NBA!!!

Crynasty's idiotic posts about clippers shouldn't give Blake Griffin Max deal and if he wouldn't accept that letting him walk or other bigs like him bc they weren't as good as LBJ brought teh lulz. Mediocre bigs will get paid a ton of money because of their rarity. A mediocre big is more coveted than an above avg guard because they're fucking big. Just the way it is. That's why Andy got the deal he got. We didn't give it to him, another team would.

Gortat is another example of a big who got paid. Speaking of which, I was just comparing his stats to mozgov's and their stats are pretty comparable. I will take that.

Nikola Pekovic, Hawes, Kwame Brown, Jermaine O'Neil, Oden, Emeka Okafur, etc....

All examples. There's a reason the 4 are still even being considered as players in today's NBA. Bigs are fucking rare! If I were a GM I would legit only draft bigs, unless a stud guard/SF was there. They have so much buying power. Having too many bigs is like having too many All Star QBs/pitchers on your team. Have too many good ones? Trade them for 2 first round drafts (even when you team is fucking garbage) and prob pick up a decent guard in the deal as well.

This is true, and we also have a $5.2M trade exception. We still have some assets, although I hope we keep SOMETHING in the event things don't pan out for us.

One move I wish we'd really make is to send Delly packing. this stat left me in awe... https://twitter.com/jweirREP/status/552557984443023360

In total, the Cavs gave up Dion Waiters, Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, the Memphis 1st round pick, and a 2019 2nd..... FOR ..... JR Smith, Iman Shumpert, Timofey Mozgov, and a 2015 2nd round pick.

Also gave up the 5.2 trade exception for Mozgov.

    Cavs cut AJ Price...

    PG - Kyrie, Delly
SG - Marion, Smith, Harris, Jones
    SF - James, Shumpert, Miller
    PF - Love, TT
    C - Timofey, Haywood

Still need an upgrade on the bench at 1 and 5, I expect they will sign someone to be the third PG. I would not be opposed to Brady Heslip from the D-League or a veteran.

Let's say it like it is and just put LeBron at PG... lol

    More like:

    PG: Kyrie, Delly/Shumpert (def)
    SG: Shumpert, Marrion, Smith, Jones
SF: James, Marrion, Miller, Shumpert (def?)
    PF: Love, TT, Miller
    C: Mozgov, Love, TT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Haywood

That's pretty damn incredible. Wish we could start to see better results on the court. Teams are pretty confident playing against now, which hurts.

    That is insane.

I hope the trade helps, but I have my doubts. To me, it has the feel of the trades that the Cavs did every year the last time LeBron was here to get the "missing piece". Those trades never worked.

Does LeBron miss Miami, is he scouting possible homes, did he enroll his kids in school? The world wants to know where he is, every minute.

I am not as enthusiastic about the trade as some here (probably because the Cavs have looked like complete shit since mid december), but the difference between these trades and the trades you mentioned are the cavs actually have two legit players with Lebron already. At some point something has got to give. The GM has worked pretty damn hard to get a good team on paper. The players and coaches need to fucking deliver now.
