Yes.....He was benched in the 4th quarter of game 6, when his team made a run and came back.lhslep134;1729435 wrote:Have COA and Sleeper come up with a new default anti-Harden message if the Rockets are able to hold on and make the Western Finals?

That's a reasonable take. I agree because I see him as a coach who can't elevate the talent he's given. For example: given the roster and circumstances from this year, I have no doubt that the Celtics would have less wins under Rivers than they did under Stevens.HighRoller74;1729437 wrote: but Doc Rivers may be one of the most overrated coaches currently in the NBA. -

It would have been funny if you had PM'd me that and then those two actually used that.HighRoller74;1729438 wrote:Yes.....He was benched in the 4th quarter of game 6, when his team made a run and came back.

Exactly. He was on the brink of being let go, prior to landing Allen, and Garnett. No doubt in my mind, had they not made those moves, Rivers would've been fired in the first month of that season.lhslep134;1729439 wrote:That's a reasonable take. You could also use the presence of Thibs and his defensive scheme as justification for thinking thatHighRoller74;1729442 wrote:Exactly. Very true. I've been beating the "Doc=Overrated" drum for a while now. I just don't see it.lhslep134;1729444 wrote:You could also use the presence of Thibs and his defensive scheme as justification for thinking that -
lhslep134I don't like to draw big picture takes from the playoffs but man, I've changed a little bit on Blake Griffin. He showed that he deserves to be in the discussion of the best bigs in the league but his disappearing in 4th quarters, whether from fatigue or nerves, has been an eye opener.
-
Ironman92I believe Doc is overrated (but he does have a title and did beat the Spurs in the crunch)....but also believe CP3 is slightly overrated.
-
Lovejoy1984Agree on both. CP3 is a top PG no doubt, but eventually some one needs to take a step back and ask themselves why his teams have never made the leap.
And agree with Blake, I'm not sure what it is, but he has disappeared. -

My answer would be that point guards can't win games single-handedly on both ends; that's why with the exception of Magic and maybe Isaiah, both in a different era, a point guard hasn't been the best player on a championship team.HighRoller74;1729450 wrote:CP3 is a top PG no doubt, but eventually some one needs to take a step back and ask themselves why his teams have never made the leap.
Note: Chauncey was arguably the best player on the Pistons but the Pistons as a team were the exception to the rule that you need a superstar to win a title. -
Lovejoy1984I agree, and I don't even mean the leap to championship level. The fact that he's never been to the conference finals is a bit shocking.
-
lhslep134
That could be a product of his conference though. I think he'd have made a few Eastern Finals by now.HighRoller74;1729452 wrote:I agree, and I don't even mean the leap to championship level. The fact that he's never been to the conference finals is a bit shocking.
If CP3 was a wing player I'd be more inclined to agree with what you're saying. I mean I do agree, and it is surprising he hasn't done more, I just think it's explainable. -

friendfromlowryWouldn't surprise if GSW drills them. Win it in 4-5 games.

Me either. But I could see this going 7. I don't think that GSW are world beaters by any stretch, and Houston, can shoot the 3, just as good as GSW.friendfromlowry;1729459 wrote:Wouldn't surprise if GSW drills them. Win it in 4-5 games. -
gport_tennisI think doc the coach is excellent. Doc the GM is terrible. The clippers have absolutely no bench and that's on Doc the GM.
-
gport_tennisAlso still think McHale is garbage. Good job abandoning the hack a whoever strategy.

lhslep134(ps if Harden isn't so good in the regular season the Rockets don't have home court in Game 7)
