Thats fantastic. You know he was amped to be going to LA and as much as we hate on them, they will at least try to win. Philly on the other hand is in permanent tank mode until they land a LBJ-esque type prospect.

It probably had to do with Sam Hinkle greeting him by saying, "Congrats for being the newest 6er. At least for the next two years, at which point we'll probably be entering THE PLAN: PHASE IV and trade you somewhere for a couple expiring contracts and a smattering of second-round picks over the next 4 years."

Its also possible that Denver, Boston and Philadelphia hold 11 of the 30 First round picks next year.

Unfortunately for Philly, outside of maybe 3 or 4 prospects, next year's draft is very shaky. The 2017 NBA Draft is projected to be very strong.

Fortunately for Philly, Okafor is a good player. I would write off their other 2 prospects though in Embiid and Noel. Both suck and will never be healthy long enough to prove otherwise.
  • Azubuike24
Embiid, who knows. He's got more upside than Noel, but he hasn't played a game.
Noel, he's always going to be a solid role player. Not sure why you say he's unhealthy? He played 75 games last year and looks 100% recovered from the torn ACL.

Noel and Okafor actually compliment each other pretty well.

Noel will tear his knee again almost guaranteed. It's also a handicap because you will never go as hard post surgery so your potential is limited.

    Wade officially opted out.
  • Rotinaj
Can't wait to hear about how wade feels disrespected when they don't offer him another max deal.

He sacrificed salary for championships. His "fault" and now he's too washed up to be worth that.

    Ridnour traded AGAIN.

@WojYahooNBA: Yahoo Sources: Sacramento probing Kentucky's John Calipari about interest in running front office and coaching. http://t.co/UoWHC3NpEV

And then a few minutes later...

@SethOnHoops: @UKCoachCalipari will not be able to be on today's podcast. We will get him in a few weeks.

Bulls have offered Butler a max deal. Shocking, I know.

He's probably their best player. Worth a max? Questionable.

Let's see if he takes it. With the current trend I would say no (LBJ, short term deals) but with him I would tell him to take it. Too much unknown (see Paul George). I doubt he repeats a season like he just had.

    Kings approach?

    Keep Cousins.
    Draft Cauley-Stein.
    Sign DeAndre Liggins.
Try to trade for Eric Bledsoe.

Maybe if they acquire as many UK players they can land Cal?
  • Azubuike24
...and he essentially turned down Cleveland and New Orleans?

I just don't see it. Sacramento is a mess...

Thought I read Butler wants to go to the Lakers on a one year deal?

Would he really turn down a max deal from Chicago? Why would you want 1 year in LA?
  • wildcats20
He postponed his meeting with LA after the Bulls offer. My guess is that he stays in Chicago.

He will blow in the NBA and he knows it. Cali is a good coach because he's a good recruiter. I really don't think he's a great X and O type guy.
  • Azubuike24
I'd agree. That's his flaw. Makes you wonder why he's been "linked" to about 25% of NBA teams already though? Every off-season it's the same. The only skill I think he has that isn't that common is, he relates to players. You can see why some of these coaches have no inkling at all about what current players are/go through. Someone like George Karl, for instance. In the end, this only goes so far. You gotta be able to actually coach too...
  • Azubuike24
...and there are 2 players I'd potentially leave to coach. LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He turned down both...that says a lot.
