Lebron's demands puts pressure on other players to cut salaries (which they may not do) and management to go out and find cheap(er) players.
I'd assume he discussed it with Wade & Bosh before they opted out. Wade isn't worth a max deal anymore and frankly, I don't think Bosh is either. Egos aside, maybe Lebron told them this?

Hate Nelsons game. He is the type of PG who passes it when there is an assist to be had, other than that, its stuck in his hands for 15 seconds each possession.

Welcome to the NBA lol There are very few pure pg's left who move the ball and create.

@WindhorstESPN: Heat telling free agents they will have $12+ million to spend, indicating Wade & Bosh ready to take huge pay cuts, sources told ESPN

    Targeting Lowry and possibly Gortat.

Gortat would be a huge upgrade over every big on that roster.

Yes he would, just can't see how they can make it work financially.

Hope they get fucked by the NBA for breaking the rules.

Probably wont happen though. Also Gortat is a better big than any big not named LBJ on their team last season.

Sam Amico ‏@SamAmicoFSO 2m Consensus around league is Heat would be wise to let Wade walk & spend money elsewhere. But there's a sticking point: He's LeBron's friend

    lol wade sucks lol

Sam Amico ‏@SamAmicoFSO 8m If there's issue w Heat, it's Wade still getting superstar $$. One prominent agent says client won't go there "to get less shots than Wade."

    lol wade sucks lol

You would think some owners in the league would call the cHeat out on this if it happens.

Jodie Meeks has agreed to a 3 year, $19+ mil contract with Detroit.

Thought he was a bright spot for LA last year, but not sure he's worth that much. I'm ok to let him walk.

Seems like shooters are at a premium.

Agent Henry Thomas, on report clients Bosh & Wade will take $12M/per & $11M/per, respectively: "all the BS you are reading is just that."

Gortat is not better than Bosh. C'mon man.

Jeez. And here I thought they had fired Dumars.

Yeah when I said it, I meant true big guy.
  • Laley23
Pistons going after Isaiah Thomas as well...lol. That franchise is a mess.

Bosh would be up to the task if the Heat needed him in the paint. It wouldn't end well, but that's not the point because Bosh's value to the Heat lies elsewhere.

Are the Heat better with Bosh or Gortat? Because the answer is so clearly Bosh, I don't understand how Gortat could be an upgrade over "any big" they had last year.

Gortat and Bosh would be pretty freaking potent, but that's not what we're talking about here.

    Gortat back to the Wizards

    5yr/60m
  • wildcats20
    Welp

@WojYahooNBA: Marcin Gortat has agreed to a five year, $60 million contract extension with Washington, league source tells Yahoo Sports.
  • Lovejoy1984
I just don't get how the media thinks FA's will be falling over themselves to take pitiful amounts of money (NBA Money, not real life) to sign with the heat. If they only have $12m to sign guys, I don't see them getting anyone better than Trevor Ariza.

Most all of these young players who would help the team, want to get paid. You'll get your ring chasers, but they really aren't going to help at all, looking at you Pau Gasol, Ray Allen, etc.
  • wildcats20
@ESPNNBA: RT @ESPNSteinLine: "No options and a fully guaranteed $60 million" for Gortat, says one source close to process

    That's nuts.
  • Azubuike24
It depends on the price. The following players (with career earnings listed) have all made plenty of money and have gas in the tank. All could greatly help Miami if they were willing to sign reduced deals.

    Boris Diaw (59.4M)
    Ray Allen (184.3M)
    Trevor Ariza (44.3M)
    Shawn Marion (133.5M)

There are others who were in the mold of Jodie Meeks. On the south side of 30 and haven't gotten that decent deal yet. I don't see those guys taking discounts to play in Miami.

Allen is almost guaranteed to follow LeBron and I think the other 3 could fill a role Miami didn't have a year ago. What Shane Battier would've been if he wasn't completely done.
  • friendfromlowry
IMO, the Heat are fucked. They need a lot of help and will likely have not much money to acquire it. It's not like they were 1-2 guys away.

Solid article on Miami's free agency situation...

lol. Josh Smith is such a cancer, Greg Monroe is threatening to sign the 1 year qualifying offer of the Pistons (and subsequently leave next year as an UFA) if the Pistons dont trade him.

What a terrible signing that was last year.
