2014-2015 NBA Off Season, Draft, Free Agency

friendfromlowrySo the Heat drafted two point guards?
Edit - nevermind. Saw they traded the second round pick to be able to move up and get Napier. ESPN draft tracker wasn't accurate with trades. -

The radio this morning compared Simmons hanging out with those other guys to the freshman who hangs out with the seniors for no apparent reason.KB0938;1630835 wrote:Bill simmons, just shut the fuck up -
sleeperThe Napier pick to the Heat is irrelevant. Napier isn't going to make or break the Heat.

Commander of AwesomeI hope he sucks ass and the heat have to keep him so lbj can play penis flickers with him all season on the bench

Fingers crossed this actually happens. I would lol big time, giving up a big that can shoot and rebound that stay relatively healthy for an oft injured PG on a team with 3 other PGs would bring teh lulz. -
wildcats20LaQuinton Ross and Deandre Kane added to the Lakers summer league squad.
People seem to think Q has a shot. -

I don't think either player makes a roster.wildcats20;1630929 wrote:LaQuinton Ross and Deandre Kane added to the Lakers summer league squad.

I think Kane has a chance.sleeper;1630933 wrote:I don't think either player makes a roster. -
robj55Ross can score but I don't think he's athletic enough to play at this level. I think someone should take Craft, he could completely change a game defensively for 10 minutes, or be a third pg on the roster who plays his ass off in practice.

That would remind me of some of the 4th or 5th bigs that teams used to carry solely for practice bodies. Craft would be a good "practice body" on a team without elite ball handlers (to challenge them). Still unsure he makes a roster though.robj55;1630952 wrote: be a third pg on the roster who plays his ass off in practice.
If anything, I can see him getting scooped up by a summer league team and then maybe get invited to camp before winding up on that team's D-league affiliate. -
robj55
Yeah I believe he will no doubt be on a summer league roster, and will probably get a chance to go to an NBA camp. I know he can't score but the way he can defend is something truly special, and he has intangibles and is a winner. There have been other guards that have had careers in the NBA who couldn't score so it's not unprecedented.lhslep134;1630971 wrote:That would remind me of some of the 4th or 5th bigs that teams used to carry solely for practice bodies. Laley23His defense is not nearly good enough to make an NBA roster when on the other end, your best player can be doubled without any worry of Craft scoring lol.
Im also not sure he well his defense would translate. NBA refs call fouls on guys who pressure ball-handlers all the time, even when they play solid D. Its as if they dont want that type of defense played because they want teams to get into their offense to score. -
KB0938I wanna see Craft go up against an elite ball handler. Hes gone up against some pretty good Guards in the big10 but I cant think of a really elite level Pg hes played against
Edit: And I agree with Laley, he handchecked a LOT and played defense with his body a lot. The Big10 lets people get away with that....the NBA not so much -

Craft wouldn't be that huge of a liability on the offensive end that you could just double team someone else.Laley23;1630982 wrote:His defense is not nearly good enough to make an NBA roster when on the other end, your best player can be doubled without any worry of Craft scoring lol.

But we all know Craft wants to be a doctor so he probably doesn't care about the NBA D-league chance. -
KB0938
He couldnt even finish in the lane in the big10, let alone the NBA with more length and size. And his jumper.....well its probably worse than Rondos.sleeper;1630984 wrote:Craft wouldn't be that huge of a liability on the offensive end that you could just double team someone else.

But I agree, he'll probably chase his basketball dreams for a little bit. Then just become a VERY successful Dr in Columbus area -
Laley23
It was definitely an exaggeration. But, my point was he is SO bad on offense that no team is going to play him just for defense. The only guys who can really get away with that are bigs, because they can still be useful on offense just by being big.sleeper;1630984 wrote:Craft wouldn't be that huge of a liability on the offensive end that you could just double team someone else.

Dr. KnOiTaLL
There are guys like that, but they're typically the exception and not the rule. i.e. Thabo SefoloshaLaley23;1630989 wrote:The only guys who can really get away with that are bigs, because they can still be useful on offense just by being big. -
robj55Anyone remember Kevin Ollie? Couldn't shoot or score a lick and played for like 12 years in the NBA, Craft is a better defender then he ever was. Kevin was part of the rotation basically his entire career as well, something to consider. Craft is the best on ball defender I can remember seeing in a long time.

KB0938Craft is a great defender yes. But like Laley said, his style of defense isnt gonna fly in the NBA. He Handchecks and bodies people a lot, thats fine in the B1G, but the NBA isnt havin that.

A player that smart can figure out how to guard without fouling though one would think. He has elite lateral quickness and hands.KB0938;1631008 wrote:Craft is a great defender yes. I mean I guess it could happen, I just think theres a very slim chance of it. Hes better off honestly going overseas to play or just becoming a Dr here in Columbus. Hed have a VERY successful practice anywhere in the Columbus area.robj55;1631011 wrote:A player that smart can figure out how to guard without fouling though one would think. I am kinda curious as to how hed fair against an elite elite level ball handler or offensive PG. I mean him and Burke played to a stalemate pretty much, thats the best Pg off the top of my head I saw him go against I think. -
robj55
Yeah I agree he will be successful in whatever he does, whether that's being a doctor or what. I mean if you can play to a stalemate with the National player of the year and a lottery pick that's pretty good. Again, Kevin Ollie played 12 years in the league based on intangibles and being a role player who couldn't score, and he couldn't score much in college either.KB0938;1631017 wrote:I mean I guess it could happen, I just think theres a very slim chance of it. I didnt remember him so I looked him up. Thought maybe he was a bigger score in college and it didnt translate to the NBA but he still played good defense. That was a wrong assumption as Craft scored more than Ollie in college.robj55;1631002 wrote:Anyone remember Kevin Ollie? Ollie is 2 inches taller though. Could it be the size and maybe they feel Craft tapped out his potential and thought maybe Ollie had more? Who knows. Plus....cannot remember how many rounds were in the draft when Ollie was drafted.
Doesnt matter....Craft will have a successful career in whatever he does. -
robj55
Ollie actually went undrafted in 1995, played in the CBA for two years.thavoice;1631025 wrote:I didnt remember him so I looked him up.
