This team is nowhere near championship caliber without Lebron. Our window to win, as constructed, only lasts while he's still a dominant force in the league. Maybe 4 years? That's the rush. Its not just "how good can Wiggins be" that's important, its also "how quickly can he get there?".sleeper;1637088 wrote:Who cares if Wiggins takes 3 years to 'peak'. Lebron is going to play until he's 38 at least and he will want reduced minutes. By the time Wiggins is ready to take over the team, Lebron will be in his twilight years playing 25 minutes a game.
Trading Wiggins for Love seems like the short term thinking that brought us zero championships with Lebron. I don't think Love is worth the trade but like it was posted above if Lebron wants Love and doesn't care about Wiggins, you get Love.
And Love is only 25. Its only short term thinking if he doesn't sign an extension, and I don't think the trade gets done without that in place. -

Doubt he will do that but we'll see. Sounds like he wants to test FA and head West, to me, so this may all be a moot point.sleeper;1637109 wrote:However, if Love comes out and says "I will only play in Cleveland and I will not sign an extension anywhere else" then the Wolves lose all their leverage and the Cavs could get him for a pack of chewing gum. -

Lol give me a break with that shit. 4 more years of elite basketball from Lebron? Duncan's been playing elite basketball for 15 years.Mulva;1637110 wrote:This team is nowhere near championship caliber without Lebron. I think Lebron has more than 4 years of relevance and by the time he drops off you have a superstar in Wiggins hitting his stride. What does Love give you after 4 years? His knees will be done by then and Minnesota will be piling up championship after championship with Wiggins.Mulva;1637110 wrote:This team is nowhere near championship caliber without Lebron. This. You said it much better than I did. The window isn't as wide as everyone would like to think. Everyone wants to still think of Lebron as a "kid" because it's hard to believe he's played 11 years but he's approaching 30 and the body doesn't tend to get better at that age, it wears down. Plus, we must keep in mind this guy is playing close to 100 games a year (with postseason) and that isn't doing his body any favors.Mulva;1637110 wrote:This team is nowhere near championship caliber without Lebron. Somehow it's assumed that Wiggins is the "next Lebron" and will carry this team to multiple championships when, at this point, he's a big unknown. Do I think he'll be VERY good? Yes, but I'm not ready to stamp him as the guy who they pass the torch to who leads this team to numerous championships when LBJ is gone. -

Duncan is far from dominant at this point. He hasn't even been an all star 2 of the last 3 years.SportsAndLady;1637113 wrote:Lol give me a break with that shit. 4 more years of elite basketball from Lebron? Duncan's been playing elite basketball for 15 years.
4 years from now will be Lebrons 15th year in the league. He's not carrying a team to a title at 35. -

He won't need to when Wiggins carries him to a title.Mulva;1637116 wrote:Duncan is far from dominant at this point. He hasn't even been an all star 2 of the last 3 years.

The Cavs team right now is good enough to win a championship. The only road block is the Spurs but I don't think even Love puts them over the top(need Duncan to retire honestly).BR1986FB;1637115 wrote:This. You said it much better than I did. This. Kind of like how everyone just assumed Kobe still had some years left and Wade had some years left a couple years ago. Age sneaks up on you quick, give yourself the best chance to win now while you can.Mulva;1637116 wrote:Duncan is far from dominant at this point. No it isn't. They may not even be the top team in the East, as currently constructed. It's close but I'm sure Chicago & Indiana will have something to say about it.sleeper;1637120 wrote:The Cavs team right now is good enough to win a championship. Right, kyrie and wiggins will be. But Lebron will still be elite when it matters. Kinda like Duncan and the spurs. Parker and Leonard carried them at an elite level, and Duncan picked it up in the playoffs.Mulva;1637116 wrote:Duncan is far from dominant at this point. Cleveland will stomp the shit out of Chicago and Indiana. The Wizards will be #2 in the East next year right behind the Cavs.BR1986FB;1637122 wrote:No it isn't. They already lost Stephenson, they're done. I really like George but if Lebron wasn't leading the cavs to championships by himself, George definitely won't be able to. George hill and hibbert are championship quality? LolBR1986FB;1637127 wrote:Until they completely fall off the map, they will be in the mix. -

Who said they were "championship quality?" A strong AAU team might be able to win the pathetic East. The title still runs through the West.SportsAndLady;1637128 wrote:They already lost Stephenson, they're done. Lol okay, so not championship quality but good enough to beat the cavs. That work better for you?BR1986FB;1637136 wrote:Who said they were "championship quality?" A strong AAU team might be able to win the pathetic East. The title still runs through the West. -

BR1986FBOne thing I have noticed is that opinions on moving Wiggins vary, a lot, by age demographic. 20-30 somethings are in the "we CAN'T trade Wiggins" camp wanting the long term, consistent winning (not necessarily needing a championship), while those North of 40 are more in the "let's win a few over the next 5 years when Lebron's still good" camp. The 60+'s are still spanking it to old Jim Brown highlights.

SportsAndLadyNow warriors are saying klay is available?? Hope that's true and Love goes there

Commander of AwesomeI don't understand that from warriors perspective.

In general, I don't listen to anyone over 40. No doubt in my mind the core of Wiggins/Lebron/Irving will win a championship.BR1986FB;1637154 wrote:One thing I have noticed is that opinions on moving Wiggins vary, a lot, by age demographic. 20-30 somethings are in the "we CAN'T trade Wiggins" camp wanting the long term, consistent winning (not necessarily needing a championship), while those North of 40 are more in the "let's win a few over the next 5 years when Lebron's still good" camp. You also want Greg Oden so I'll take little note of this.sleeper;1637161 wrote:In general, I don't listen to anyone over 40. No doubt in my mind the core of Wiggins/Lebron/Irving will win a championship. -

If the Cavs do this and truly want to keep Wiggins, they are going to have to get a third team involved unless they want to gut their roster of talent.Commander of Awesome;1637159 wrote:I don't understand that from warriors perspective. -
