I disagree, stretch 4 who is a demon on the glass is exactly what they need. That said if there is any way to keep him they obviously should.SportsAndLady;1637033 wrote:Lebron is an idiot if he doesn't see the upside of mentoring a Wiggins into a superstar.
I'll say it again..adding Love for wiggins does not make us any more or less a championship team. -
MulvaLove definitely makes the Cavs more of a championship team for at least the next couple years. After that, it would depend on how Wiggins develops, and trying to predict the future is a much riskier game than trusting the present.

KB0938If they trade away Wiggins, this wil be one of those things you look back on in 10 years and just scratch your head.
Especially since theyd be giving him up to a team that loses the player theyre trading next year if they dont make A trade. Why give Minnesota leverage that they dont have? -
SportsAndLadyThe cavs have two great scoring options they don't need a third, who will take his shots for sure. And come on, he's a good rebounder but Minnesota plays no defense of course there are going to be rebounding opportunities.
This team needs a lock down defender more than it needs another scorer. Love brings zero defense and a losers mentality. NEXT -
ohiobucks1What did I say to you guys. The media is fucked. Lebron likes Wiggins. He likes Love too. He did not demand a wiggins for love trade. Dan Gilbert is the one who wants to win at all costs right now.
P.S Amsterdam fuck yeah -

Bingo, Wiggins will be lucky if he ever reaches the level of productivity that Love has achieved on the court. Not saying he can't or won't.Mulva;1637040 wrote:Love definitely makes the Cavs more of a championship team for at least the next couple years. I don't like/want the Wiggins for Love trade, but I have to agree with this.Benny The Jet;1637032 wrote:If it's true LeBron wants Love there, consider it done.... -
BR1986FBSeems like only yesterday everyone (myself included) was screaming "we can't trade JJ Hickson in the Amare Stoudemire trade" when the Cavs wanted to team him up with Lebron. Not saying Wiggins is Hickson but at least Hickson had SOME kind of body of work. Wiggins is a hope and a prayer.
I've flipped the switch on this one. As long as they don't have to give away half the team, and Love signs an extension, you DO this deal, and it needs to be done BEFORE the season, not at the trade deadline.
If Love was a Cav last year and Lebron was joining him and the opportunity came up for the Cavs to trade Love for Wiggins, there would be a riot in the streets. NO way people would want this.
People won't be bitching about losing Wiggins (as much because there will always be those who want to bitch about something) if the Cavs win 2 or 3 championships over the next 5 years. Wiggins is probably going to take 2 to 3 years before he peaks. Time is the Cavs enemy right now in that LBJ isn't getting any younger. With Wiggins, this team probably makes the ECF, with Love they are probably the favorites to win it all. -

Who cares if Wiggins takes 3 years to 'peak'. Lebron is going to play until he's 38 at least and he will want reduced minutes. By the time Wiggins is ready to take over the team, Lebron will be in his twilight years playing 25 minutes a game.BR1986FB;1637087 wrote:Seems like only yesterday everyone (myself included) was screaming "we can't trade JJ Hickson in the Amare Stoudemire trade" when the Cavs wanted to team him up with Lebron. Trading Wiggins for Love seems like the short term thinking that brought us zero championships with Lebron. I don't think Love is worth the trade but like it was posted above if Lebron wants Love and doesn't care about Wiggins, you get Love. -

Lebron will retire here. There is no doubt.BR1986FB;1637089 wrote:No guarantees Lebron sticks around after the two years is over.
Also, I still think we get Love without giving up Wiggins but it won't be until February. -

Is there any guarantee Love sticks around past 1 year?BR1986FB;1637089 wrote:No guarantees Lebron sticks around after the two years is over. -

Bad idea. This doesn't help Blatt, LBJ or the rest of the team. Not enough time to successfully come together. The reason the original Big 3 (Celtics) were so successful in their first season was because they started off together. I think if they add Love later in the season it won't work out.sleeper;1637090 wrote: Also, I still think we get Love without giving up Wiggins but it won't be until February. -

That's why I said, in that long rant, that he has to be locked up to do this deal. You don't trade Wiggins on a "hope" that he resigns. It has to be a done deal to make this move.SportsAndLady;1637092 wrote:Is there any guarantee Love sticks around past 1 year? -

I'm of the opinion that we aren't going to win the title in year 1 of LBJ's return with or without Love. What's the rush?BR1986FB;1637093 wrote:Bad idea. SportsAndLadyI don't understand Love making the cavs this "lock" to win multiple championships. Especially in year 1.
I don't think people realize that he's not going to put up 24 and 12 with Cleveland (or anywhere else where there is more than 0 other good players). -
BR1986FB
And in the same breath I'll say "why the patience?" If I have my choice of 2-3 championships over a 5 year span with bad basketball thereafter versus 8-10 years of good, competitive basketball with NO championships, I'm taking the former. If Lebron wants Love and Wiggins is part of the deal, you do it....assuming you're not getting your pants taken down.sleeper;1637095 wrote:I'm of the opinion that we aren't going to win the title in year 1 of LBJ's return with or without Love. The Cavs have kind of already shown their hand in that Wiggins IS available for trade but not already signing him to a contract. -
BR1986FB
Oh, I know Love's numbers will drop off. There are only so many basketballs on the floor.SportsAndLady;1637097 wrote:I don't understand Love making the cavs this "lock" to win multiple championships. Especially in year 1.

Because Love isn't worth the #1 overall pick; no player in NBA history has ever commanded the #1 overall pick in the NBA. Never.BR1986FB;1637100 wrote:And in the same breath I'll say "why the patience?" And this isn't just a #1 overall pick. This is the #1 overall pick who has been hyped for 5 years and has been called the best prospect since Lebron. This isn't Anthony Bennett were talking about. You DO NOT TRADE WIGGINS FOR ANYBODY.sleeper;1637102 wrote:Because Love isn't worth the #1 overall pick; no player in NBA history has ever commanded the #1 overall pick in the NBA. Never. -

Good article on the love wiggins discussion.
I agree with Simmons. You don't need to finalize your roster in July. Wait it out, don't make a panic move before even seeing if wiggins can be Pippen, and roll with the current team because it's still really fucking good. -
BR1986FB
What Lebron wants, Lebron gets....and if these rumors of him reaching out to Love directly are true, it sounds like he wants Love. If he doesn't care that Wiggins is a part of the package, they will likely do the deal.SportsAndLady;1637103 wrote:You DO NOT TRADE WIGGINS FOR ANYBODY. -

However, if Love comes out and says "I will only play in Cleveland and I will not sign an extension anywhere else" then the Wolves lose all their leverage and the Cavs could get him for a pack of chewing gum.BR1986FB;1637108 wrote:What Lebron wants, Lebron gets....and if these rumors of him reaching out to Love directly are true, it sounds like he wants Love.
