KC Blue Colors @ Cleveland Indians April 21 - 23

The more I watch him, the more I see a closer acting as a starting pitcher.
  • Con_Alma
the wheels are already coming off

Ok, you guys can tell me I am wrong all you want. But Yan Gomes has 6 fucking errors and 3 Passed Balls this season. Im not sure how anyone can say he isnt hurting us behind the plate.

    4-1 now.

Gomes is the least of this teams problems. He's no all star but he aint the elephant in the room.

I agree, but that doesnt mean someone who is on pace for 48 errors on the year isnt hurting the team right now.

Its not that he isn't hurting the team. He's just not the issue that's keeping this team from beating the vegas win number.

Its only been 20 some games. Give him some time to settle in. ;) jk

Kenny would have caught that ball. Disappointed in Bourn all around
  • Con_Alma

I think we were talking about that after his last start.

He could be an electric set-up man closer in 1-2 inning bursts, but I don't see a work horse when I look at him that is ever going to be a front of the rotation guy that will give you 200+ innings a season and pitch deep into games in the playoffs.

On the other hand I could see him excelling in that old Rivera type reliever role when he was setting up for Wetteland in 95/96 where he would usually throw about 2 innings and dominate guys.

Some guys just aren't meant to be starters. I am not even sure he is a closer, but he could be a stud 7th/8th inning bridge to a closer with his stuff.

    Bourn is really disappointing.
  • Con_Alma
There's got to be a role for him with that kind of arm. I just don't see him having more than 2 pitches.
  • Con_Alma
Pujols gets 499 & 500 in the same game. Wow.

  • Con_Alma
    wheres the offense??
  • Con_Alma
    need a couple this inning.
  • Con_Alma
Gomes with 2 hits tonight. Be nice to get him in now. 5-2 KC
  • Laley23
5-3 with 3 ABs left looks SOOO much better than 5-2. Always nice to bring the tying run to the plate with just 1 guy getting on base.
  • Con_Alma
not to be. The side strikes out. :(
  • Con_Alma
They cant even put the bat on the ball.
  • Con_Alma
    have to score here....again.
  • IggyPride00
    Really Tito?

They are down about as many as there are fans at the ballpark right now and Tito is out there wasting time with a pitching change.

6 runs is practically a week's allotment with this gang, just pack it in and let the poor bastards go home for the night.

Swisher seems to be on a nice streak. maybe he needs to start giving Santana some bear hugs so it wears off on him.

The guy hit .268 last year and has knocked in 70 or more the last 3 seasons. He has also walked over 90 times each of the last 3 years and already has 17 this year. Yes, he is in a slump but he isn't going to break out of it sitting on the bench. It is freaking April and you guys are giving up on Carlos already? If he is batting .145 in July we can talk then. But guys have bad 15-20 game stretches all the time. It just looks worse when it is at the beginning of the season.
Its not about giving up on Carlos but playing the hot hand. How long do you wait for him to turn it around? I don't care what he did last year, especially when there are at least 2-3 other players who can play his position and are actually productive at the plate. The team needs to win games both now and at the end of the season. its not like a win later in the year counts as 2 wins. every game matters. 2 more wins last year at the beginning of the season when they were slumping would have meant a real playoff spot.

This team and the way it's constructed will go as far as its pitching takes it....and right now, the front office in regards to its pitching decisions in the off season and the spring has a lower batting average than Santana.
