2nd in AL...and when you add the Wild Pitches and Passed Balls, it leads the AL by a decent margin. Just terrible.

He is showing a ton more pop in his bat than he has up till now.

I don't think he will keep this pace up, but the fact his power numbers are taking such a big jump after seasons of 6hr/60 RBI & 10Hr/73 RBI is desperately needed and much appreciated.

He turns 27 next month, so this is his absolute prime right now.

I could easily see him end up with 20/110 this season, which would be huge jumps from his previous career high.

He and Murphy are literally the only thing keeping this offense afloat, as we would be possibly the worst team in the majors without their production thus far. That is how bad everyone else has been.

Power wise, yes...but you can't leave out Chisenhall who leads the team in average .....and a pretty healthy one at that.

He's only played in half the games so far, so I don't consider him a "regular" the way Murphy/Brantley are.

    ...and another error.
  • Con_Alma
there ya go swish. 2 doubles now.
  • Con_Alma
    ....and a Kipnis sighting!!!

    4-3 Indians.
  • Laley23
3 more errors tonight. Up to 19 now, to go along with 12 Wild Pitches and 3 Passed Balls.

Offense needs to pick em up.

And as I am typing, Kip delivers!

Guthrie is fooling no one right now.

KC showing the Indians' fans how defense is supposed to be played.
  • Con_Alma
    Bourne?????with a hit??????

    Oh my. KC pitching change.
  • Laley23
Bourn has frustrated the hell out of me this year, but we have to remember, he didnt see live pitching for a long time with his ST injury. He is still working his way back. I wish Tito would have him down in the order (9th) until he gets some ABs under his belt though.
  • Con_Alma
yeah...some guys don't handle that well mentally. I don't know what kind of guy Bourne is. Have to trust Francona on that one.

I tend to look at decisions some times with too short a view......game or even series. He better be thinking overall impact for the season. It is frustrating though.

BTW, it is Bourn. No E at the end.

You mean he's not related to Jason???
  • Con_Alma
Chisenhall with a couple hits tonight. Doesn't bother me that he's not played every game. Maybe he should be. He's one of the best offensive players on the team thus far.
  • Con_Alma
    KC keeps flashing the leather.
  • HitsRus
well, here we go again......ninth coming up, 1 run lead.

I agree. Lonnie is playing the best ball we have ever seen from him offensively. He is seeing the ball well. If you are ever going to see if he can play everyday (ie, versus lefties) it needs to be when he is swinging a hot bat and get some confidence. I like the move to bat him 4th, even if it is only for today, as it really builds his confidence (especially since he delivered).

The only thing that is still lacking a bit is his patience. He swings at a TON of pitches, too many early in the count. But, that comes with playing time and getting in a good groove at the plate.
  • HitsRus
    Axford!
  • HitsRus
Hey, Lonnie has worked hard. You gotta love that in a player. A lot of us had written him off.

Santana needs to take the same approach.
  • Laley23
Im so confused as to what just happened? Has Axford pitched the 9th yet?

Seriously, that was about as quick a 9th I can remember an Indians closer having since Kerry Wood locked one down on like 6 pitches lol.

Yeah, he seems to have really worked on what the coaches said he need to work on. Even last year he was much better in stretches. But you have to love the fact he is going the other way with some conviction and not just flailing away with 2 strikes. He still doesnt really take a ball with 2 strikes, but he swings the bat like he expects to make solid contact, not just flailing away cause he was afraid to go down looking like before.

    Nice win.
