Glory DaysThis game is on Klinsmann. Too little too late with the substitutions. Jones should have been pulled halfway through the second half, he was out of gas.

and Jone's penalty set up the winning goal.Glory Days;1756305 wrote:This game is on Klinsmann. Too little too late with the substitutions. Jones should have been pulled halfway through the second half, he was out of gas. -
SportsAndLadyThis game isn't on Klinsman, Mexico is just better.

Classyposter58I do agree about Jones. Guy was dead from about the 85th minute on

No Klinsman was awful with his tactics and lineup tonight. USA was awful all night. Mexico is mediocre. USA isn't necessarily better, but certainly not worse.SportsAndLady;1756313 wrote:This game isn't on Klinsman, Mexico is just better. -
MulvaIs the senior team or the overall program in any better shape than 4 years ago? Seems like we're treading water more than anything. U23s are likely going to miss the Olympics again.

Heading into the WC it seemed like we are at an all time high (or at least, recent high). Since then, awful. Regressed to as bad as I have seen. Klinsman is in hot water, lucky it's America. Any other country he would be gone.Mulva;1756319 wrote:Is the senior team or the overall program in any better shape than 4 years ago? Seems like we're treading water more than anything. sportchamppsThe biggest gripe I have is I'm not even sure we're top to in Concacaf anymore. Cameron should have been starting in the back the last 6 months and maybe we're more organized thanks to him playing with the team more. I didn't like Zardes being subbed he was playing pretty well and had the legs to keep going. Jones was playing great but was just gassed. The clearances were bad all night and in the end that what did them in.

gerb131I dont like Guzan.

I read an article today that said 9 of the 11 people on the field yesterday will be over 30 by the next WC. It also talk about how Klinsmann wanted to build a aggressive, attacking team. However, they have usually played defensively since he took over.Laley23;1756338 wrote:Heading into the WC it seemed like we are at an all time high (or at least, recent high). Since then, awful. That was the first game I have seen him play and I don't know enough about why Tim Howard took time off. the first goal, mexico just ran circles around the defense. the last goal he was caught off guard and didn't have his feet set ready to make a save, thus a late reaction to a great shot.gerb131;1756499 wrote:I dont like Guzan. -
AutomatikI haven't really been keeping up on the USMT lately, but two questions.....
Why is everyone getting pissy with Jurgen?
Why the fuck does Donovan continue to run his mouth? -

Because he is stubborn to a fault and has display IMO a real knack for putting the wrong players in at the wrong time. Starting Alvarado all Gold Cup, not brining landon to the WC, not playing Cameron at CB, forcing Yedlin to be an outside mid, refusing to let the young guns run, etc.
2. See Landon missing world cup. -
MulvaNot to mention they lost to fucking Jamaica in the gold cup and then missed out on the confed cup on home soil to the most hated rival. Why would anyone not be pissy at this point?

Without a doubt, we aren't good enough. No composure on the ball. Poor choices on the ball. No attack, basically.SportsAndLady;1756313 wrote:This game isn't on Klinsman, Mexico is just better.
It's not looking THAT much better for the future either. We have a lot of holes in a lot of positions that aren't being filled by much young talent. It's a shame that a German second division player gives the USMNT hope. Jozy and Dempsey have been poor for the Yanks. For me, Fabian Johnson had his worst game for us than I've ever seen from him before.
No doubt that Jones could've and should've been subbed, but we only get 3. You can't sub Dempsey, Jozy, Jones, Johnson, Guzan, and Zardes (who, for me, just isn't there yet...especially technically and his tactical speed of play).
Overall, we just aren't good enough from first team TO youth levels to compete at the international level. That is visible throughout. The same thing the USMNT struggles with, my college guys struggle with. The club I work with has the same issues. It's just a system that needs an overhaul and it starts at home with the parents. Sucks...but we've got a lot of work to do yet.
I've had that notion since he's been with the national team for the last 3ish years. Good for club, not there for national team. He and Rimando need to go.gerb131;1756499 wrote:I dont like Guzan. -

I hate losing to the rival. I don't care one bit about the Confederations Cup.Mulva;1756645 wrote:Not to mention they lost to fucking Jamaica in the gold cup and then missed out on the confed cup on home soil to the most hated rival. Why would anyone not be pissy at this point?
What happened in 2009 when we went to the Confederations Cup? How did that impact our 2010 World Cup?
What happened in 2013 when we didn't go to the Confederations Cup? How did that impact our 2014 World Cup?
What happened to the 2009 and 2013 Confederations Cup winners in the subsequent World Cups?
