I firmly believe Donovan was left of because he and Klinsmann didn't see eye to eye, which I'm fine with...it still sucks though.

It's not about having 23 better than Landy, it's about having 4-5 better than Landy. He only fits in a certain position (whether that is MID or FWD, we do not know where he wanted to fit). If he isn't in top form OR, more importantly, not fitting the system best...then he isn't the best option.

The World Cup leaves no room for sentimental value or historical relevance. Also, how much "experience and leadership" does the team need? Not using that question against Donovan, but it's just a question in general for the team. Howard, Guzan, Rimando, Dempsey, Altidore, Beasley, Beckerman, Jones, and Bradley are all capable, no? That's 9 of the 23. Is a 10th needed?

In the end, Klinsmann is the only one (well, his staff) who knows what is going on. No fan/expert analysis is qualified. We have no idea why Landy wasn't selected. For all we don't know, he could've stepped back individually because he cannot physically do it (or mentally do it). I do know...I cannot wait for the pressers about this situation!

I'm glad Beckerman made it. I've been hard on him in the past, but after seeing what it meant for him to make it and it being a life long dream, I've changed my tune. I hope he plays his ass off.

Are you going to cry about it? Jesus, it's one player, who got cut. Boo hoo, Klinsman named our team and thats who we are rolling with.

    Beckerman fucking blows.

    Beckerman is such a bitch.

Beckerman > Jones in the WC. Jones is a red card waiting to happen.

I refuse to believe that Beasley, Yedlin, Green, Bedoya, or Diskerud can help this team more than Donovan. The guy has more goals in the WC than Cristiano and Messi combined for fuck sake.
  • Laley23
Beasley brings more cause of his defensive abilities now. Not sure how you can say Donovan isn't worth a spot over some if the midfielders though. Especially late in a game as a sub when we need a set piece delivery.

Beasley isn't good anymore... Cristiano is licking his lips. I'd have rathered Parkhurst to Beasley.

Bedoya is garbage. Why was Edu left out? Yedlin plays well for his MLS team. Mix is one of those guys who you never know who is going to show up. Still think Donovan should have made.

Will be very odd to watch the USMNT play a big time match and not see London Donovan out there. Feels like he deserved one last WC with how much he's contributed, but if he's not 100% then it makes sense.

Guy has been wanting to play in the WC since he discovered the game. Let's hope he's not that terrible.

Just like I said, Klinsmann and Landy weren't very tight.

Klinsmann will be looking for a new job after the World Cup. I hope I am wrong but I don't think I will be. The way he handled this is so close to Sampson in 98 when we had another terrible showing.

Beasley and Yedlin can't be lumped in this argument since they are both defenders. Depending on where Bedoya and Diskerud will see time, maybe Donovan is in a completely different role? I guess we just don't really know where Donovan was wanting to play...MID or FWD? That really plays a role in why he may not have been chosen.

Edu hasn't been at the level he needs to be. I was surprised he was at camp.

Edu has been playing really well with the Union and most pundits a few weeks ago thought he would make the national team.

I could not give a crap if this is his life-long dream. I just don't think he is that good.

I'll trust in JK's decisions for the team and how he wants them to play until I see them lose to Ghana.

Hopefully they keep him around at least long enough to sell Zelalem and Shawn Parker on the US.

Klinsmann gone after the WC because he didn't select Donovan, the guy who wasn't even sure if he wanted to play in this WC cycle?

    Geezus, overreact much?
  • SportsAndLady
He left off Landon Donovan lol not like he left off Lionel messi.

I'm not shocked. I was sorta shocked that Edu was selected to go to camp. He's definitely not in the same form or category as Jermaine Jones and Michael Bradley. I'd even take Mix and Bedoya over Edu.

Jermaine Jones is not good. It's obvious that Klinsmann is a homer for these German guys. No way you take Jermaine Jones over Edu.

No, but it seemed like as good a time as any to tell you to fuck off-lol.... IMO, we're not getting out of our group, so it makes no difference anyway.
