We've thrown way too many QBs to the wolves and it's never turned out positive for us.

Definitely agree with you on this and not Mr. Doomsday (nice nickname like_that).

We all want a QB than can compete with Hoyer, but if Hoyer comes back and plays the way he did before he got hurt, it's going to be hard for a rookie to beat him out, but if they do, and the rook is actually better(not like Weeden beating out Hoyer), than it's all good for the team.
    Well said.

Some guys, like Peyton Manning, can learn the NFL game while taking a physical and mental beating. There are other guys whose careers are ruined by playing them before they are ready. Players such as Rodgers, Brees, and Brady weren't hurt by sitting when they first entered the league.
I dont think you can count Brady in on this subject.

Yes, he is a great QB. One of the best of all time. But he wasnt thought of being a great, or even good, NFL QB. He was drafted in the 6th round! No one expected he would even become a starter in the league, let alone the best of all time. Also, as it relates to what I stated, at the time NE DID have a very good, established QB in Bledsoe. The browns dont have a very good, established QB right now.

Brees did pretty much his whole first season. They had an experienced QB, Flutie, who was their starter.

I already talked about Rodgers..they had a HOF QB playing for them and that is why he sat so long.

Most starting QBs are going to have their rough spots and growing pains. Why should the browns draft their future QB in the first round, and then sit him for much of the season and let another inexperienced QB, Hoyer, go through a season of ups and downs only to turn it over to another guy that next year?

Roethlisberger, whom isnt in the top teir elite but I think in the next level of top QB's sat a little bit until Maddox got hurt. Even at that he had started 31 of the previous 32 gmes for the steelers.

I think the time to sit a QB you draft as your future is when you have a QB with alot of experience in the league.

I think that you are making Hoyer out to be a guy lacking NFL experience. I disagree with this. While he doesn't have a lot of STARTING experience, the guy has been in the league for 5 years. He has had an opportunity to be an understudy of one of the best QB's of all-time, and has been able to learn and develop his knowledge of the game and the playbook. Additionally, he has been able to adjust to the "speed" of an NFL game through practices, training camp, and game play. This is something that CANNOT be overlooked and overstated. Rookies coming into the league are never prepared for the speed of the game. I can honestly say I've never seen an interview when a rookie was asked about the speed and they said they were prepared. Towards the end of the season, they may say, "the game is starting to slow down for me," which simply tells you that it was fast for them at first. I believe that Hoyer would be EXACTLY what a team wants in a mentor QB, because he understands that role as it was at a championship level under Brady and Belichek.

I certainly think there is no doubt that the Browns want to find their QB of the future in this draft, but I also have no problem letting that guy sit, learn the playbook, get practice reps, and allow the game to slow down for him. Our offense isn't one that protects the football. It's based on taking shots down field, which is going to lead to turnovers. The worst thing we could do is throw a rookie into the game with a playbook that he doesn't know like the back of his hand against players that are faster than he is prepared for. Get your guy, develop him the right way, and we will end this maddening QB and coaching carousel!

    You make valid points.

The thing also you have to consider is how much more patient will they be? Chud will be in his second season. Does he want that one with a QB with limited starts in the NFL only to turn the reigns over later in the season/next season to another QB and go through it again?
That is my question on what direction do they want to go in. You have a fan base who is sick and tired of the status quo and of the personnel decisions the franchise has made for quite awhile. I know, new ownership, new coaches, but that gets said every few years up there. How patient can the organization be? The fanbase and team would be a little more forgiving in other places like NE, Pitt, etc where they have shown ability to make good decisions.

I agree with someone earlier who stated the new salary structure does help sit a guy like this though as you arent paying him out the ass to sit the bench.

It will be interesting how the approach the situation. Another issue they may have to address, one that many thought wouldnt need worried about, is the defense which has been giving it up lately. Plus..He is coming off a bad knee injury. He isnt the running type like RGIII, but that still could affect him quite a bit

But then again.....alot of defenses have been doing that late in the season!!!

What is policy for this Browns thread? Anything goes, so I can respond to the deadbeat appropriately, or should I just wait for the ban and see him cry lol?

It's a main Browns thread.....I wouldn't imagine this is any different than last year's.

Everyone posting on here knows how it works....trolls will be trolls.

I agree that they might feel some pressure. However, that is the same mistake we have made time and time again, and look where it has gotten us. It's time to build the right way. Haslam has said he wants to build a successful and sustainable franchise. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS in doing this. There are no free agents, single draft picks, or coordinators that can make this happen on their own. I'm tired of waiting just like everyone else, but I'm also tired of seeing us make the same mistakes over and over again. Let's do something else for a change, and see where that takes us.

Tiernan has been removed. So don't respond in a way that will result in the same for you.

Looking at some stats today, Little is 5th in catches on the team. 5th!

Brian Tyms is behind gordon on the depth char, I don't even know who that guy is.

Speaking of Gordon, he's currently not even on the top 10 pro bowl list for WRs, Joe Thomas is 7th for Tackles, Haden is 9th among CBs and Cameron is 5th among TEs. What The FUCK.

Not sure the answer to those....Browns don't get a lot of highlight/air time around the country I guess. Fans of the AFC North know those are simply assinine but the fans of the other 28 teams obviously aren't too savvy....voters of these rarely are and the big names on the big teams get the votes.

Do you have a link by chance? Thanks
