I hadn't heard Hoyer in the equation initially but I had heard "our 2nd rounder straight up for Johnson." That's very steep for a 33 year old WR but we do have two 1st rounders next year. If they threw Hoyer in the package I wouldn't offer more than a 4th with him.SportsAndLady;1643671 wrote:Have you seen anything on what Houston would realistically want in return?
I said hoyer and a pick without knowing what it would take to get Andre.
That being said, I do feel that our WR group isn't going to be as bad as the media is making it. I think Hawkins is going to be very good and if Austin can stay healthy we know he's got #1 talent.
King probably just needed something else to write about the browns other than "does grossmans signing mean hoyer is going to get cut!?!?"
Unfortunately, King isn't the only one saying this about our WR's. I love the Justin Gilbert pick but it's starting to look like Farmer should've snagged a WR with one of those earlier picks. -

Eh 1st round wrs don't always come in yr 1 and light it up. I don't think any of the wrs being selected in top warranted the pick IMO. Watkins was/is undersized. See if he stays healthy. Espn had a graph that showed wrs with his size selected in top 10 last 15 yrs and every one busted.BR1986FB;1643710 wrote:I hadn't heard Hoyer in the equation initially but I had heard "our 2nd rounder straight up for Johnson." So then it comes down to, rather have jff or a WR? I'd rather have a potential starting qb.
Joel Bitonio or a wr? Bitonio has all pro potential. We need a nasty pwn guard and I'd much rather that than a 2nd round wr.
So really, IMO kirksey was where they SHOULD have taken a WR and I doubt a 3rd wr would make you feel better.
Should have taken a flier on Torrence Allen in the 7th round IMO. -
FootwedgeDon't want anything to do with Johnson. Too old. Keep building the team with the draft. I'd be good in trading Hoyer to Houston for their number 2 which could be a 34-35 overall. Hoyer would have to start for that sorry stable of quarterbacks Houston has. It would be a great break for Brian as his days here as a starter are numbered. I would much rather have Hoyer as a back up to Johm Football over Grossman, but there probably is some truth to this divided team thing on the quarterback situation. Pettine has his hands full with the whole scenario. As a rookie head coach, does he really need this added stress? But nothing less than a number 2.

At some point we will get a regime that understands that you have to score points to win games. All the defense in the world isn't going to amount to a hill of beans if we can't put a reasonable number of points on the board each week.
Receiver has been treated like a red-headed step-child by the team since they came back. I think it goes hand in hand with the continued failure of our QB's.
The only year we had multiple legitimate All-pro caliber targets was 2007, and not surprisingly we won games and played a watchable brand of football.
Pettine has spent his entire career coaching on teams that have been offensively challenged. He needs to be hands off and let Shannahan do whatever the hell he wants.
Farmer needs to make something happen with the WR position. He ignored it in the draft, and didn't really bring in anything more than wish and a prayer guys in free agency.
Unless the plan is to play 2009/10 Mangini era ball where we are locked in games that are 9-6/14-13 every week. Given Pettine's track record that wouldn't surprise me, but they are going to quickly where out their welcome if they insist on boring the hell out of the fan base every week. -
BR1986FBTake it fwiw but NFL QB Sage Rosenfels saying a big trade about to go down. Sounds like Hoyer for Andre Johnson. We may have to throw in a pick or Phil Taylor.
-
Commander of AwesomeThere is no fucking way we're giving up Phil Taylor.

Not true dumbass Iggy. Remember 2007/2008? We had k2, Leon, joe j, then went and sign donte stallworthlessIggyPride00;1643751 wrote:Same song and dance we've been dealing with for years now.

That = 0 playoff games. Lolfail -

Phil Taylor and a starting QB? No fucking way I would do thatBR1986FB;1643752 wrote:Take it fwiw but NFL QB Sage Rosenfels saying a big trade about to go down. Sounds like Hoyer for Andre Johnson. We may have to throw in a pick or Phil Taylor. -

No way any gm would do that.SportsAndLady;1643756 wrote:Phil Taylor and a starting QB? No fucking way I would do that -

Wouldn't be 100% sure about that. He looked fat, slow & worthless against Detroit and I think he's in Pettine's doghouse. He's #2 on the depth chart.Commander of Awesome;1643754 wrote:There is no fucking way we're giving up Phil Taylor. -

Disagree. Thought he played well.BR1986FB;1643759 wrote:Wouldn't be 100% sure about that. He looked fat, slow & worthless against Detroit and I think he's in Pettine's doghouse. He's #2 on the depth chart.
He's #2 bc he just got into camp. Injured during the first conditioning test that he had to recover from.
Also LOL at using a depth chart as indication for doghouse. Pettine isn't a bitch boy putting guys in a dog house.
Literally don't agree with 1 point of your post. -
BR1986FBAgree to disagree. He looked like shit. Ton of D-Line depth on this team.
-
Commander of AwesomeBR you just get on these hate trains with browns top players (Joe GOAThomas) and love shitty players (Weeden). It makes no sense.
Phil Taylor is a boss:
"Big Phil had a strong year, actually. His Stop Rate was in the top ten in the league, and the average run gain when he made the tackle was 1.4 yards, which is pretty robust. "
^From Football Outsiders -
BR1986FB
That's all fine & good from LAST year. With the D-Line depth, he's expendable. Let's see, they have shit for WR's but a plethora of strong D-Lineman? If they were going to take from one unit in a trade, where would it be to grab a stud WR? Hmmmmm......Commander of Awesome;1643762 wrote:BR you just get on these hate trains with browns top players (Joe GOAThomas) and love shitty players (Weeden). It makes no sense.

And I don't "hate" Phil Taylor. He's "been" a good player but if you have a chance to get an Andre Johnson, you do it. -

Phil Taylor is anything but expendable. Rubin/Bryant sure. Not Phil Taylor.BR1986FB;1643764 wrote:That's all fine & good from LAST year. With the D-Line depth, he's expendable. Andre Johnson is 3fucking3 yrs old. If we traded a starting QB, and a stud dline first round pick WHOM we just picked up their 5th yr option on for a 33 yr old WR I would want Farmer fired immediately. Jesus Christ, I'm sooo glad you're the not GM.
That trade would just be idiotic on all account. 26 yr old STUD dline player on a reasonable deal, for a 33 yr old WR with a huge contract? LMAO great trade!!!! /sarcasm -
BR1986FB
And I'm glad you're not a GM either. Otherwise, we'd have an unhappy Andrew Wiggins.Commander of Awesome;1643766 wrote:Phil Taylor is anything but expendable. Rubin/Bryant sure. Not Phil Taylor.

And you're reaching referring to Taylor as a "stud." He's good but not great. Again, another Cleveland fan overvaluing "ok" talent. -
sleeperYeah no way I want to trade PT for Andre Johnson. Why would the Texans want any more D-line anyway?

You trade your shittiest d lineman if you have depth and Phil Taylor isn't the worst. Andre Johnson is 33 and currently sidelined with a hammy. I would lol at their face of they asked for Phil Taylor to be included with our starting QB. I rather judge Phil off all the positives reviews I heard about him + his numbers last year instead of one fucking preseason game. Come on br, we ain't winning a SB this year. Why the fuck would you trade your best DT for an aging injury prone wr? That's beyond idiotic.BR1986FB;1643764 wrote:That's all fine & good from LAST year. With the D-Line depth, he's expendable. Bc he's a fucking stud elite run stuffing wrecking ball on a nice rookie contract. Who wouldn't want that? Guess the Browns if BR ran the team. He'd trade him and Joe Thomas for an all BSPN over hyped team wrecking our salary cap. LOLsleeper;1643771 wrote:Yeah no way I want to trade PT for Andre Johnson.
