Right now, he's getting all of the hoopla (although he seems to have stayed off Instagram/out of the media for 2 weekends in a row) while Hoyer is just keeping his head down and going at this competition in workmanlike fashion.

Manziel, as the starter, would be good for the national attention but I couldn't care which one of them starts as long as they win.
The fact that Haslam drafted Manziel (don't kid yourself, he made the call) was simply to replenish his wallet knowing he had to write a big check for the Flying J scandal. I highly doubt that the draft pick was solely based off of on-field performance.

A good team = more money than Johnny Manziel. It isn't like that $92M came out of his bank account. It comes out of the Company's taxable income probably. A smart business man isn't going to draft a guy based on a short lived uptick in income. He's a billionaire, not desperate.

    Homeless guy told him to.

I think it was a good move though for the Browns to draft him. Even with the off field shenanigans he is going to bring excitement to the offense. Other than some short lived spurts with Holcombe this offense has been atrocious for years.
SOme QB's have a way of elevating an offense and team and I think JM does this. It has def rejuvenated the fan base and will do the offense as well.

Just too bad for them that the other piece of the puzzle that was already in place will be suspended.

Anyway, I am pretty sure its a forgone conclusion on Gordon being suspended, but I think its fucking pathetic how the NFL still hasn't set up a timeline where a decision would be made well before training camp. Not to mention how pathetic it is that Dareus is roaming free right now on drug possession charges, Ray Rice beat the shit out of his wife (also they have had 5 arrests this off season), and Mike Tomlin is a cheating piece of shit that received a wrist slap.

Apparently you are unaware that the Browns had a team in 2007? Although he turned out to be fools gold, the offense was pretty damn good with Derek Anderson at the helm.

Yeah, I knew I was missing someone. They had a good offense with DA as well, but for the most part the offense has been the letdown for this club. The defense for the most part was good and you all just needed an offense to go along with it.

Moreso they need a QB to go with it. They've had teams that could've been playoff contenders but the QB held them back.

Just seemed like their play calling and offensive game plans have been so bland and conservative over the years for the most part. My friends/family members say that the browns have to lead the league in passing for 1 yard short of a first down when on third down! Even when a new OC would come in they still seemed to be the same passive scheme.

I thought when Chud came back that would change as he had some good offenses back in the day especially the season they lost in the playoffs at pittsburgh.

JM will be able to improvise and create plays. The biggest question mark will be his durability and if he tries to run often or keep his eyes down field and throw the ball. If he can scramble and makes plays vertically then this offense will be very good, well...if they still had Gordon.

Doesn't matter what play you call. It's all in the execution.

Yeah, I know. Some people dont realize that most pass plays have receivers at different levels but they always felt the browns always threw to the short guy who was open but wouldnt get the first down.

Will be interesting to see teh QB battle. YOu know JM will make a number of fantastic plays in training camp with his legs and will wow the crowd but I also think he makes a number of bonehead rookie mistakes. If Hoyer can produce more consistently he could win the job.

Initially, I thought if it was close, they'd go with JFF but now I think that JFF is going to have to blow Hoyer out of the water to win the job.

Also didn't read. You forgot rapistfucker raping 3 women only to get a 6 game suspension. Which then got reduced right in time to play the browns. Smh

rewatched the A&M/Bama game from last year tonight. Its a shame Manziel isn't going to have that fuck Gordon to throw it up to like he did with Evans.
  • BR1986FB
How dumb is this stupid little frontrunner? Good for Haden!

That was the game that sold me on Manziel's ability to succeed in the future in the NFL, at least talent wise.

The fact that Nick Saban had a whole year to prepare, and a defense filled with who knows how many future NFL players, and Manziel STILL did that.

I'm still concerned about him running around and then just chucking it up, especially since we don't have anyone who can go up and get it. I hope my concerns are unfounded.

And those are legit concerns. But what gets lost when people start harping on just that (and I'm not saying you are, just pundits in general), they ignore that the kid's some some serious arm talent.

Which cracks me up when I saw a JFF detractor citing his "weak arm strength."

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that at all--the kid has a gun. My concern is that he was able to successfully do that in college, and it just ain't gonna' work here. In Pettine I trust ;)

Oh I know, that's why I had to clarify that I was referring to pundits not you.

For some reason I can't explain, I'm feeling really good about Hoyer this year. Then I remember that we don't have Gordon. Sigh.

If the WR's they have stay healthy, I think they will be ok.

I know you want to be optimistic man, but taking away one of, if not THE, best WR in the league is going to be extremely difficult to overcome and even if their other guys stay healthy I dont think they will be OK. Taking away the top threat in the league allows the defense to focus on everyone else.
