    Maybe he meant 20/12

Best of luck with him. Seems like a monster cancer to me. His potential when he was on the Lakers was just ridiculous.

Of course it isn't a risk for the Cleveland fans.

You don't seem interested here. I know it's not a ridiculous contract at all....but this post doesn't say a lot about potential.

He obviously was talking as if they had to sign him to a long-term contract.

Your post above "good for Cleveland fans" no it's good for EVERYONE. Even Gilbert, because it shows people his team can sign a big free agent signing (something that is currently in doubt in Cleveland land)...the money is no object for Gilbert. The money has to be spent somewhere or else they'd be hit with a tax.
  • Ironman92
That's fine....he's an easy all-star+ talent and averaging 44 games a season the past 6 years he needs to prove himself again to get a huge contract in 2 years.

He should have a little chip on his shoulder.

I think you knew damn well what I mean, but I will explain it to you. Ridiculous contract would = multiple years and big money that would handicap the team cap wise. A one year deal with a team option does not handicap the team at all. As I said earlier, the only risk is to Gilbert's check book, and he clearly has shown the last few years he does not give a fuck about wasting money if it means setting the team up to be in a good position to succeed.

Nice reach with that quote though.

I'm not saying average. But he and Dwight are the only two guy who at the end of the game you look up a d they have 20/20

He had 2 20/20 games in 2012-13 which was his best and last year. That being said,I definitely think he's the 2nd best center In the league when healthy and would love to have him if he can play. Just thought the easy 20/20 post was a little crazy.

Yeah, I mean Im not saying he will be getting 20/20 once a week. Im just saying that he and Dwight seem to be able to pull down insane amount of rebounds and it doesnt even look like its hard for them. They routinely seem to be approaching 10 by halftime.

Good call. Griffin as well...but hes a douche, so fuck him.

I guess "potential" is the word that's killing me. I understand that he's got max deal talent and has a serious reason to have a great year and get a gigantic contract that can pretty much let him and his family do whatever they want for the rest of his life.

Your owner has something to prove and getting Bynum shows he's willing and that you gotta commend....but I just see Bynum as the ridiculously talented guy that is more "do the minimum amount to get by" than "work my tail off, never look back and show them how good I am"

In the end, I don't see you Cleveland fans liking him at all....but I do understand the potential he brings. If he does well and greatly helps the Cavs it won't bother me at all....and he can't be great for the Cavs if Dan doesn't go get him...so we'll see.

I said "potential," because he hasn't signed yet. The fact of the matter is if he is a complete flop, the only thing that will hurt is Gilbert's check book, which he drops money all the time.

This. Not to mention its rumored to be incentive laden so he wouldn't get the full $12M or whatever number is being thrown around by "getting by doing the minimum". Don't see any long term risk in a 1 year incentive laden contract with a team option in year 2.
  • Laley23
So what if he flops I92? I don't know why you are harping on that and Cleveland fans not liking him? Who gives a shit? If that's the case, he won't be back. It's not like they are tied to him for 7 years...

This is a win win situation for the cavs. They have no reason NOT to take the risk.

Outside of "losing" money, there aren't really any negatives IMO.

If(and of course this is a huge if right now) he plays to his potential, he will be a force inside. And if he doesn't, they cut him loose.

Cousins, Noah, and Vucevic were the only guys with multiple 20/20 games this season. First two had 2 each, Vucevic had 4.

Holy shit. 2010-2011, Love had eleven 20/20 games

    Yeah, he is a monster.

I think a healthy Bynum, with 35+ min a game can get a lot of 20/20 as well.

I'd say love, Dwight and Bynum would have the most when all 3 are healthy and getting minutes.

    Wayne Ellington signs with Dallas.
