Here we go, now that the numbers back up the argument, we're gonna talk about the difference in leagues.

You'd seriously take Leake and Arroyo over Bailey? That honestly shocks me.

    Mindgames with opposing teams.

Uhhh yeah, when you are going to compare stats of pitchers, one would think numbers should be skewed a bit in the NL's favor since they have a free out every 9th batter. Don't let logic get in the way of your hurt butt though.

You gotta go strictly by the numbers, and only this years numbers.

Do you think the Indians have a better pitching staff???

Not at all. But not including Masterson id a complete fail.
  • royal_k
And there is a big difference in facing a pitcher and facing a DH.
  • Rotinaj
7 of the top 12 ERAs are from the AL. I agree theres a difference but if it were a big one those numbers would be different.

You are all idiots. Seriosuly. How has no one pointed out that Brandon Phillips is starting on this fictional team over Jason Kipnis!!!!

    MAJORFUCKINGFAIL!

This catcher talk is all moot if Dusty is your manager.

I wouldn't have trouble with any of the catchers. Hanigan was one of our MVP's last year IMO....but not doing it this year. I love Santana's bat and on DH day he's the guy....but Gomes gets his fair share of starts. Teams don't really run much so Hanigan's ability doesn't get used much....and Hanigan's might be the best receiving catcher in the league.

Gomes and Santana get my starts....but Hanigan goes in if Gomes struggles with the bat.

I remember that and was thinking the same thing.

whoa whoa whoa. I skimmed through this REALLY fast, so I apologize in advance if I am mixing up posters/arguments.

But why are we going on this years numbers for pitchers, but we are going with Hannigans track record and the lack of one for Gomes as well as Santanas relatively disappointing career numbers?

My argument on the catchers was that Hanigan is a heck of a catcher and his career numbers prove it, but lhs wanted to look at this year only, so I conceded the catcher argument, and looked at this years numbers only for the pitchers.

Fun times. Almost 5 pages of discussion about a video game team. I guess that's what happens when both teams can't win their own damn games.

Lost on the WHOLE THING is the fact that the OP had Xavier Paul starting. Xavier Paul. I'd rank him about 8th overall in the OF if you combined the teams, and he was the starting LF.

I can't get past that to argue any other points...

Believe me, that was the first thing I noticed, Lol. Over Bourne nonetheless. Bruce, Choo, and Bourne is a niiiice outfield.

I'm sure that's the first thing everyone noticed, but it was so ludicrous it wasn't worth talking about.

    FTR:

    1. Bourn CF
    2. Choo RF
    3. Votto 1B
    4. Phillips 2B
    5. Santana C
    6. Swisher DH
    7. Cabrera SS
    8. Reynolds 3B
    9. Brantley LF

    BENCH: Bruce, Aviles, Hannigan, Frazier

    SP Cueto
    SP Masterson
    SP Bailey
    SP Jiminez
    SP Latos

    RP Kazmir
    RP Pestano
    RP Broxton
    RP Smith
    RP Marshall
    RP Allen
    CL Chapman

Struggled with Brantley/Bruce and Allen (in the pen) vs. another bench player. Since I went the extra BP guy, I went with Aviles who can play OF and 3 IF positions on the bench. Brantley is starting over Bruce because I have him in the 9 hole. If I was forced to shake the line-up around so he was middle of the line-up, Bruce might get the start.

I think Bruce is too much of a run producer to not be in the everyday lineup. Also, if Aviles can play 3rd, I would leave Frazier off, and maybe add Cozart.
  • SportsAndLady
Bruce not in the lineup? Lol come on
  • Rotinaj
If you aren't going to start Bruce in the OF hes a 100000% better option at DH than Swisher.
