killer_ewok@NEPD_Loyko: Te'o getting knocked for lack of athleticism.. but ran only .1 slower than Ogletree had better 3-cone and Shuttle..who is "a great athlete"
I'm honestly not trying to "defend" Te'o but I think his off the field fiasco is causing overreactions/extra scrutiny to his combine results. -
like_thatJust recieved an ESPN notification that the niners agree to trade Alex Smith to KC. Not sure what the niners get in return.
-
gorocks99No word on what the Niners are getting in return but it has been agreed upon: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8995035/san-francisco-49ers-agree-trade-alex-smith-kansas-city-chiefs-source

thavoiceThink its a good move for the chiefs. Smith will do well enough for a couple of seasons so they can build the team.

Some on twitter are saying for two 2nd round picks. -

This is really going to improve my mock draft team. :laugh:killer_ewok;1397096 wrote:Some on twitter are saying for two 2nd round picks. -
SportsAndLady2 second rounders is great for the niners. They've handled their QB situation flawlessly.
-
killer_ewok@AdamSchefter: Chiefs traded second-round pick, the second pick in the second round, to SF. Niners also got another conditional mid-round pick in 2014.
-
killer_ewokA 2nd round pick and a conditional mid-round pick.

I agree with that to a point, but I think a good amount of the scrutiny comes from that awful championship game where he was man-handled and whiffed on tackles.killer_ewok;1397064 wrote:@NEPD_Loyko: Te'o getting knocked for lack of athleticism.. but ran only .1 slower than Ogletree had better 3-cone and Shuttle..who is "a great athlete"

I agree. But we're talking about 1 game. Does it make sense to discount 12 games and put that much weight on 1? -
AutomatikSo now with Smith to KD, does that make Joeckel a lock for the #1 pick?
-

I think one needs to take a look at his performances against teams who had legit pro prospects on the other team taht he went directly against.killer_ewok;1397121 wrote:I agree. But we're talking about 1 game. Does it make sense to discount 12 games and put that much weight on 1? -

When it is his most recent showing against real competition, yes. Right or wrong, it's how the NFL world works. -
killer_ewokDo you guys mean like how he did against Oklahoma, Stanford, etc. or are those teams void of pro prospects and therefore not considered "real" competition? Honest question.

No, it's how the media works, not NFL. -

I think it's more how message boards and some sports media personalities work. I still would be surprised if he's not a 1st round pick. I'm gonna give pro scouts a little more credit than that. -
killer_ewokI get the whole "you're only as good as your last game" stuff but I think most would agree that is illogical. Not saying the guy is gonna be great...simply saying that there is plenty of extra scrutiny, and while some is justifiable, I think most of it is irrational.

I'm saying real competition as in a real game and not the combine. -

Just saw that Kiper has him at 21. For whatever that is worth. -

Got it. My mistake there. Question only applies to thavoice then. -

Against teams who have legit pro prosepcts on the OL and RB. I dont know the answer to that. I know he was eaten up by Bama..alot of players were.

I honestly have no idea where he will go and frankly I don't care. He was a really good college linebacker. Only time will tell how he does in the league. -

True and correct...a lot of players were. I think Te'o went up against some very formidable opponents and played well against them in 2012. Obviously that wasn't the case vs. 'Bama. I guess it just depends how much you read into that one game (and it was a huge game).
